Guest guest
High quality cod liver oil it totally D3. Contact the manufacturer if in doubt. I would stay away from capsules because of high cost and needing to take so many of them. I use Carlson's lemon flavored cod liver oil which tastes pleasant. I have no know D deficiency, but I rarely get sunlight because I work nights and sleep in the day. I take a tablepoon a day. I'm uneasy about taking cod liver oil given the controversy I keep reading about, that the vitamins are destroyed in processing and synthetic ones are added back in, including a synthetic vitamin A. So I'm considering taking a D3 supplement in capsule form. If I go this route, what would be the right amount to take per day to correct my deficiency? Thanks, Mark
Guest guest
Hi Alobar, Carlson's is rumored to be one of the brands that add back D3 made from lanolin, along with vitamin A, and they don't say anything to the contrary on their website. Do you know if that is true? I take 12 grams of chlorella and 6 grams of spirulina every day, so I get plenty of vitamin A from beta carotene. A straight vitamin A supplement may not be safe. Some brands like Nordic Naturals do not add back the vitamins. You can see that the vitamins are destroyed in processing because the A and D content of Nordic Naturals is extremely low. Guest guest
Yes, this is the site that scared me away from CLO. It says to take D3 capsules instead. Guest guest
I suspect the bad talk about Carlson's is simply wrong. Why don't you e-mail them and ask directly. Being diabetic, I can't take beta carotene because it messes with my glucometer readings. I have no idea why. Carlsons has removed some of the Vitamin A. Some people feel the fear about vitamin A is incorrect also. See Vitamin A toxicity, about 2/3 the way down this webpage: http://www.westonaprice.org/basicnutrition/vitaminasaga.html Alobar On 12/4/08, Mark Fletcher < wrote: > Hi Alobar, > > Carlson's is rumored to be one of the brands that add back D3 made > from lanolin, along with vitamin A, and they don't say anything to > the contrary on their website.
