Guest guest
Hi Jasmine, Your body is way too acidic, and you aren't getting enough calcium in the foods you are eating. Read post #77077 to learn about the acid alkaline pH balance of the body and to change your Diet. Your digestion system isn't working properly, and you need to take some form of Probiotics, to supply the Friendly Bacteria into your stomach. If you follow the info in post #77077, your problems will go away. SNIP> > jasmine Hi Jasmine, First of all, Congratulations on your pregnancy! What a joy to be bringing in a new life for the new year! As far as heartburn, every pregnant mommy is different in what they can tolerate...just the smell of something can make one want to wretch and yet give great comfort to another! You will have to try a few things and see what works best for you. Here are some suggestions: Candied Gingeroot: Peel and slice into 1/4 inch thick slices of fresh, organic ginger. Barely cover slices with purified water and add 1 cup of raw honey (preferrably from near where you live) per cup of slices. Let simmer over very low heat until all of the liquid has evaporated and the slices are covered with a thick coating. Spread them on a stainless steel baking sheet that is lined with unbleached parchment paper and dry in your oven on the lowest setting until no longer gooey, or dry in a food dehydrator. Keep in a tightly covered jar after they have cooled off.. Chew on a slice whenever you feel the nausa coming on. Ginger Tea: Steep slice of fresh raw ginger in water and sip. Add raw honey to taste. Mint: Any type of mint that you like will suffice. Use fresh to chew on or used dried to make a tea to sip (the key is to sip not gulp!). Add raw honey to taste. Lavender buds: Fresh or dried lavender buds brewed into tea with some raw honey added. Use caution and do not over-steep as the lavender with get bitter if steeped too long. Sip as per the mint tea. Chammomile Tea: Steep one teaspoon of dried, organic flowers per cup of water. Sip with raw honey added if desired. Lemon Water: Add a slice of organic lemon to a glass of TEPID (NOT, I REPEAT NOT COLD!) OR YOU MAY USE WARM purified water and sip. TIP: VERY COLD WATER is not good for you. It upsets the internal temperature of your body and then your body has to do extra work to put your body back into balance and proper temp. NOONE should drink ice- water or very cold water (unless they are a lizard and then it does not matter-hehe!) Also, Aromatherapy is very helpful. The fragrance should be one that is comforting to you and DO NOT USE " FRAGRANCE " OILS, ONLY USE PURE ESSENTIAL OILS! Many of the fragrance oils on the market have toxic chemicals in them and you do not want to expose yourself to these while pregnant. Also, do not use any of the mass market room sprays, cleaners or other synthetic chemicals. Use only natural and organic products. Some of the oils that are soothing are lavender, basil, marjoram and roman chammomile. You may either use a diffuser, room spray made with the oils, personal inhaler or apply in a VERY diluted concentration in an organic carrier oil. I am an Aromatherapist/Herbalist and would be more than happy to help if you want to contact me off-list. Many blessings to you Jasmine and I hope you have a wonderful, joy filled pregnancy! Warm regards and Continue to be, Lori P.S. You may have noticed that I left off the traditional saltine crackers/or dry toast before rising out of bed in the a.m. These will just put your body out of balance as they are negative nutrients unless you make your own sprouted crackers, then by all means, give them a try! > > > ________________________________ >

Guest guest
Hi jasmine, The pH of the body will vary thru out the day depending on what we eat, after a person eats, the body is generally more alkaline and as the food is digested or passed thru the stomach, then the body will start to become more acidic, if one has enough alkaline mineral reserves built up in their body to help buffer the acids, then ones system will stay healthy. But if a person doen't have enough alkaline reserves built up to buffer the acids which build up , then the whole body will turn too acidic and one may become sick and Die, from a lack of Oxygen. This is what brings on the natural process of Death when we run out of Oxygen!! My nephews wife is now pregnant and she was having problems, and now has been taking some good Probotics and most all of her problems have gone away. She has been taking the Probotics for several months now. So yes you may take Probitoics and anything else which may help you. It may be helpful to consider that when a women is pregnant that her body then has to have many times more Calcium and other Alkaline minerals to build the bone structure of their children , if they want a Healthy child!! So this is part of the reason you have more problems when pregnant, because your body now is trying to provide you with a healthy child if you do your part and eat correctly!! If you do not eat correctly, then both you and your child will suffer!! A women requires 700 times more calcium to stay healthy than a man!! Heartburn is caused because the foods eaten do not contain enough Alkaline minerals to neutralize the acids created in the stomach as the body tries to digest these foods!! All Refined foods and processed foods will cause the body to become too acidic. Example: White flour, white sugar , sodas, candy, pasta's with meat and tomatoe is a real killer and is very good at causing Heartburn. You don't have to believe me, check it out for yourself!! Buy yourself some pH strips from the drug store and test your saliva and urine in the morning the first thing before eating or drinking anything. Then as you eat foods thru the day, make a record of what you eat, do this for a week and each morning check your pH and compare to what you ate the day before and you alone may determine which foods make you too acidic!! You don't have to believe me or anyone else, be your own judge for yourself!! If you stop eating refined and process foods and replace them with fresh fruits and vegetables, you will be much better off. Foods in the cole family are very important: cabbage, brocoli, brussel sprouts, as well as foods of , onions, carrots, green beans, celery, apples ,pears, and the like. On top of my > prenatal vitamins? Hi Jasmine, Lori, here. I hope Joy does not get offended here because she is truly a fount of knowledge, but I have to disagree with a few things. First, one should not take ginseng while pregnant. It may harm the fetus. Second, if one has a history of high blood pressure, then one should avoid licorice during pregnancy. As far as the L-Glutamine and Betaine, I, Personally, would not try this type of therapy while pregnant. I am not saying that they may not work, but I think that laboratory extracted components are not the best form of therapy to try while pregnant. I totally agree with the green drinks, whey and aloe juice...as long as they are fresh and organic! If you have a juicer then have fun with whatever satisfies your cravings...just make sure you only ingest ORGANIC juice from your fruits/veggie combos! Also, have you ever tried Kefir? I am not talking about the junk you buy from the store, but real homemade Kefir from raw milk and your own Kefir grains? It would be a highly nutritious drink for you and supply all of the " probiotics " that you would need without having to swallow more pills! If you absolutely cannot tolerate milk, then you can also culture fruit juice to get the probiotics, you would just not get the same level of nutrition that you would get from raw milk. Contact me off-list if you would like more info on Kefir. Also, do you eat enough fat? Whatever you do, do not skimp on fat whilst pregnant. Just be sure to eat the right kinds of fats. ABSOLUTELY NO HYDROGENATED FAT! ABSOLUTELY NO SOY OIL, CANOLA OIL, OR ANY REFINED " VEGETABLE OIL " . Only fat from ORGANIC meat, Extra Virgin Olive Oil (NOT PURE, THIS IS A MISLEADING LABEL, ONLY, I REPEAT, ONLY EXTRA VIRGIN AND PREFERABLY UNFILTERED!) Coconut Oil, Palm oil and Organic Butter are also highly nutritious to mommy and fetus! Also, I think you would do much better to take a whole food supplement such as Doc Ian's TN than the " prescribed " prenatals. Just my humble opinion. I custom blend nutritionals for people if you cannot tolerate certain ingredients, just contact me off-list if you need more info. Hope this helps! Guest guest
Chamomile is effective for soothing most stomach and esophageal distresses, If you have stomach or esophageal erosions or ulcers, yellow root tea helps stop infection and help the esophagus and stomach heal. Most ulcers are caused not by stress (although this might contribute to the inflammation) or spicy food, but by a bacteria called helicobacter pylorii. Yellow root is effective against this. Reflux (the washing of food back from the stomach into the esophagus) can cause inflammation as well, and this is generally what causes heartburn pain. If you've noticed a sour taste in your mouth when you've been in bed awhile, reflux is definitely part of your problem. There are several effective ways to reduce reflux, such as avoiding tight belts or other restrictive clothing around the middle, avoiding overeating or fatty, rich food, especially within 3-4 hours of bedtime, avoiding caffeine-containing beverages or foods in the afternoon or evening, reducing weight if you're overweight, and elevating the head of the bed 6" (blocks under the bed frame, pillows don't work). If you're taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs) like aspirin or ibuprofin, those are definite contributors. However what worked best for me to stop the reflux that was causing my heartburn was not an herb - it was dried papaya fruit. Most you find is preserved with sulfur, which maintains the fruit color. I used unsulfurated dried papaya, which is brown and leathery--somewhat like jerky. You can either chew it like jerky or suck on a small piece as you would hard candy. I've also soaked pieces in water and then would drink the juice and eat the softened fruit. It's quite tasty and relieves the heartburn almost immediately. Better yet, in my case, it seemed to actually "cure" the reflux over time. I haven't needed to use the papaya for any reason other than it tastes good in months.I am told that making a tea from papaya leaf is also effective, but I haven't tried that. Papaya juice should also be helpful, but again, I have no experience with anything but the dried fruit.Janet--- On Fri, 11/28/08, sandersp20032003 <sandersp20032003 wrote:sandersp20032003 <sandersp20032003{Herbal Remedies} Heartburnherbal remedies Date: Friday, November 28, 2008, 2:52 PM Hello, Does anyone have any natural remedies for heartburn? Guest guest
I agree with some of the other post about stomach acid with the exception of removing raw vegetables. Maybe add enzymes and I also agree with HCL when eating. I don't agree with drinking anything while eating. Coming from years of personal and professional experience, I have found people thrive on raw foods with a little supplemental help for as long as needed. I would also find a good chiropractor. Many times, adjustments or some nutritional suggestions can make great improvements. At 70, my mother has cured many years of heartburn with it. It can also be gall bladder symptoms and more than just stomach should be adressed. Good probiotics also help a ton. Guest guest
I agree with most here. . baking soda, pinch of salt, digestive enzymes, probiotics, etc. I would also add a teaspoon of good apple cider vinegar diluted with several ounces of water sometimes has an instantaneous effect. Of course the biggest help is changing one's attitude and lifestyle in regard to nutrition and choosing and preparing food to eat. Also, kefir, kombucha tea, and homemade yogurt and many other fermented foods helped me as well. It helped when I stopped smoking, heavy coffee drinking, and cut out fast food and much of the high stress of emergency and ICU nursing.
