Guest guest
When sciatica flares it's ugly head, I usually find relief with gentle stretching and yoga.
Guest guest
Here's one recipe for the treatment of Sciatica worth trying. http://www.mothernature.com/Library/Bookshelf/Books/41/101.cfm Sciatica Ginger (Zingiber officinale) and sesame (Sesamum indicum). Medical anthropologist John Heinerman, Ph.D., author of Heinerman's Encyclopedia of Fruits, Vegetables and Herbs, recommends this Egyptian treatment for sciatica: Mix two tablespoons of grated ginger with three tablespoons of sesame oil and one teaspoon of lemon juice. Rub this mixture into the affected area. My guess is that this helps because ginger, too, is a rubefacient. Guest guest
For me, sciatica problems are a result of oxalates in the nerve and muscles. Going on a low oxalate diet helped some, but rubbing the area with a saturated solution of Nigari (Magnesium Chloride) nightly before bed worked wonders! Guest guest
Alobar, What a wonderful piece of advice! Just wondering though, why would Magnesium Chloride make a difference? Why is it effective? Does it change the internal Ph? Does it affect the electricity/signal quality of the nervous system somehow? Disrupt the signal? Affect swelling? Spasms? If rubbing it in topically works, then would including it in a poultice work as effectively? Can this be ingested safely? What constitutes a " saturated solution " ? Please explain. Thank you. -richard- --- On Thu, 10/30/08, Alobar <Alobar wrote: For me, sciatica problems are a result of oxalates in the nerve and muscles. Guest guest
Sciatica problems have many causes. I have problem with dietary oxalates which cause sciatica and leg cramping in me. Other people complain of eye pain from oxalates. Not everyone is sensitive. Folks with leaky gut tend to be sensitive to oxalates. Epsom salts works also, but not as effectively for me. I bathe in epsom salt baths, but apply Magnesium Chloride on trouble areas and let it dry. I mix Magnesium Chloride with water. Let it sit. If all of it dissolves, add more Magnesium Chloride. Magnesium Chloride tastes pretty wretched, so I prefer oral Magnesium as Magnesium Citrate in capsules. No idea about poultice. Might be irritating to the skin.
