Scar Prevention

A relative was treated for a second-degree burn a few weeks ago, and we learned

a bit about scarring. The staff at the burn center said if you can heal the skin

within two weeks and avoid getting a scab (using antibiotic cream and

moisturizer), you can probably avoid a scar.

My relative did not need scar treatment, but when it was discussed we asked what

the active ingredient is and were told it's salicylic acid (aspirin), which

works by reducing inflammation.
