Statins and Post-Operative Cognitive Disturbance

'Delerium after elective surgery among elderly patients taking statins,' is the

title of a massive study involving 284,158 consecutive patients in Ontario,

Canada aged 65 years and older who were admitted for elective surgery.

The study found that 3,195 patients experienced postoperative cognitive

disturbance and that 7% of the patients were taking statins. The rate of

postoperative cognitive disturbance was much higher among patients taking

statins than among those not taking statins.

Aging and Vitamin C

Vitamin C, found in a variety of fruits and vegetables, is essential not only

for our good health, but our very survival. Without vitamin C, human beings will

certainly die of scurvy. Vitamin C also has many other essential roles in the

body.

Primary among these is the synthesis of collagen, which is a main structural

protein in our bodies, giving support to tissues, including strengthening blood

vessels, ligaments, tendons, bone, and teeth. It is for this role that we,

millions of years ago, transformed our capacity for vitamin C synthesis into

that for making highly thrombogenic lipoprotein (a).

If you are on a statin drug or are thinking of going on a statin, this fully

referenced book, Statin Drug Side Effects, is a " must read " for you.

The unacceptable legacy of statin drug use at today's high doses is a trail of

chronic aches and pains, numbness, weakness, confusion, fatigue, shortness of

breath and even heart failure in hordes of unsuspecting victims.

Only by knowing this information, and in consultation with your healthcare

professional, can you make an informed decision about your health care.

When Dr. Duane Graveline, former astronaut, aerospace medical research

scientist, flight surgeon, and family doctor is given Lipitor®to lower his

cholesterol, he temporarily loses his short-term memory.

Urged a year later to resume the drug at half dose, he lost both short-term and

retrograde memory and was finally diagnosed in a hospital ER as having transient

global amnesia (TGA).

This is the  account of his search for answers that the medical community didn't

have.
