I am wondering if st johns wort really helps with mild depression. I

eat good garden vegtables, stay away from the sodas, and work a

physical job. Due to some health issues of my wife which I think are

finally getting to me after a year, I am feeling tired lately and

really don't seem to care about anything. I am hoping to stay away

from medications for depression. I hope to find a herbal remedy if

posible If ST johns won't work, what may help? thanks

>I had to answer you question about St. Johns wort since I have been

using it off and on for at least 15 years as I need it. Yes, It does

work and have alway been happy with the results. I only use as needed

and also took me through the change of life and mood swings that I had

and still using it with my 3 grandson's always around and gradeschool

age. I have my hands full and high stress levels most of the time and

this really does help. Also for sleeping that helps if having a hard

time getting to sleep and still waking refreshed do to stress or even

pain in my case with arthritis I use Melatonin x 1 or 2 about 1/2 hour

or so before going to sleep. Postive effects will always come with

both products. Donna, Pa.

Ravenflight,

Get your magnesium checked. I would sometimes wake up feeling depressed and

could not even get out of bed. sluggish not wanting to do anything. My

magnesium was low...So go have your mag checked

How much should I take? The bottle says 1 capsule 3 times a day.

That seems a little much. I was also under the impression that it

takes about 3 weeks to see a change in behaviour. Please advise. ---

When taking don't take with other antidepressents! This is so very

important.

My bottle says serving size 3 per day. I only us when needed

sometimes only once a week but if just starting I would give it a

try as directed on the bottle that you have. Since I have been using

it for a long time as needed I know it will not take 3 months to

help with your problems and you should see a difference in no less

than a few days. Of course this may depend you how depressed the

person is and how long it takes you system to get use to the St

Johns Wort.

Watch at first for any side effect or reactions esp. to your skin.

If you notice any problems quite using it ASAP! Some people are

alergic to the product.

Also try to eat a balanced diet and improve you daily food intack

with a lot of green veggies and extra fruits and reduce red meats.

This is the way I eat and you will be amazed how much a diet with a

lot of fresh fruits and veggies will help your over all health.

There are a lot of pros and cons like everything with taking herbs

and vitamins including St. Johns Wort and I had done a search on

taking St. Johns Wort and you can do the same thing and learn the

pros and cons and what is said about using the product. For me I

have never had a problem and it has always helped me over very

stressful times w/o taking any meds for anxitity over the years.

Hope this will help you just a little. A note about me: I had been

in the emergency medical field for a good many years EMT and MEDIC

and have seen so many problems with all the different meds and

operations that are done over the years. This also includes problems

that my family and friends have going though including an early

death with my dear father at an early age due to medical mess-ups.

For me they will not touch me unless I'm dying or it's a true

emergency that needs taken care of in the future. I have see to much

to trust very many Doctors any more!!!! This I'm sure is what a lot

of people have going to alternative medicines. Sorry this is so

long but I have trying to convince others including family members

this is the way to go. Good Luck!! Donna,PA.

St Johns Wort works if you take it for long term effects. Try Vitamine

B complex, it works immediatly and you can take it just when you need

it!!! also calcium is a natural relaxer!!!
