Guest guest
Once upon a time I asked a high executive in a major US company that was engaged in the manufacture and sale of water treatment equipment, " Where is the best place to send my well water to be tested? " His reply was, " Send it to an out-of-state lab. " " Why out-of-state? " I asked. His reply essentially was, That is because labs are licensed by the state in which they operate and often they do business with their state government. So they may be reluctant to reveal embarrassing information about well water in their state or in certain parts of their state. Remember, they depend on their state government for their license renewal. If you think there is never any hanky panky involved in lab licensing by government officials and lab license renewals, suspensions, etc. you are living in dreamland. It is not an uncommon practice in dealing with labs of any kind to send out more than one specimen of a given item to be tested. Sometimes the two identical specimens go to the same lab with different labels and sometimes they are sent to different labs.
