Bottled Water Vs. Filtered Water

Filtering out the chlorine, lead and other contaminants with a

quality home

water filtration system, at the point of use, just prior to

consumption, is

the only way to know for sure about the quality of your water.

 

 

My comments:

 

Granted much bottled water is a scam, even to being

municpal water with a picture of a pristine mountain

stream on the label. Some one should sue them for false

advertising. And I agree that the standards for testing

the quality and purity of bottled water

are far short (when existant) of what they should be.

 

I buy Mountain Valley Spring bottled water in glass bottles.

 

 

Before I signed up to have it delivered to my home, I called

the company headquarters and questioned them extensively about the

water source, mineral content as revealed by what tests they

had done, their quality controls, and how they process and bottle and

ship

it.

 

 

I don't drink bottled water because its trendy. Or convenient.

I drink it to avoid chlorine and more importantly flouride.

 

There are times when tap water smells like swimming pool water.

And the bottled water I buy tastes better than my local tap water.

 

 

But my main concern is flouride. I don't want that crap in

my body but my city does not care what I want.

 

Yes I will

get it in many bought products and when I eat out. But mostly

I cook my own food and make my own beverages. So using

bottled water at least minimizes my intake of flouride.

 

 

I can get rid of the chlorine, relatively

easily. One way is to dissolve ascorbic acid in water for drinking,

cooking, and bath use -- and its even effective for dechlorinating

water

for fish ponds. And when I make compost teas or use biologically

active fertilizers in the garden, I can add humic acid to complex the

chlorine.

 

 

But getting the flouride out???

 

As I understand

it, reverse osmosis (does distillation work for that?) is the only

way and it wastes so much water.

And is expensive to buy and not easy to install DIY.

 

So as long as I can afford it, I'm not giving up bottled water.
