All About Candida

 

 

What is Candida?

 

Candida is the short name used to describe yeast overgrowth in the body. The

technical term for yeast overgrowth is " candidiasis, " caused by the

overgrowth of candida albicans. Candida albicans is a single-celled fungus that

belongs to the vegetable kingdom. Like their " cousins " the molds, they live all

around us.

Candida albicans lives in all our mucus membranes, i.e. intestines, eyes,

ears, bladder, stomach, lungs, vagina, etc. It is one of the billions of other

friendly organisms that serve a useful purpose in the body. One of candida

albicans' important functions is to recognize and destroy harmful bacteria and

toxins.

However, candida is not intended to overgrow and get out of control while

the body is still living. That change is only intended to happen when the body

dies, when candida's functions and characteristics change for the purpose of

breaking the body down.

Candida puts out over 79 different kinds of toxins, most of which are

alcohol, which breaks the body down, even causing brain lesions. When candida

overgrowth happens while the body is still alive it causes innumerable

symptoms,

diseases and malfunctions.

 

How Candida affects us

 

When candida albicans is under control it poses no problem, but when it gets

out of control it begins to overgrow causing numerous symptoms and health

problems from the top of the head to the tips of the toes, from migraines to

nail fungus. It can result in symptoms inside (pain and malfunction of organs,

even brain lesions) and outside (eczema and hives). It can also cause

problems with the mind and emotions.

Symptoms, diseases and infections caused by Candida

Allergies, Sensitivities and Intolerances:

· Symptoms that worsen in damp, muggy or moldy places or weather that

is damp, muggy, humid or rainy.

· Food sensitivities or reactions.

· Hay fever and asthma.

· Intolerances or allergies to perfumes, odors, fumes, fabric shop

odors, grass, cats, dogs or other animals, tobacco smoke, chemicals, smog,

molds, dust mites, dust, pollen, and other airborne substances.

Symptoms:

· Athletes' foot.

· Babies - colic, diaper rash, thrush (coated white tongue), and

cradle cap.

· Bruising easily.

· Cheekbone or forehead tenderness, pain.

· Cold hands or feet, low body temperature.

· Cold-like symptoms - excessive mucus in the sinuses, nose, throat,

bronchial tubes and lungs.

· Cravings or addictions for sugar, bread, pasta and other high carb

foods, and also alcohol.

· Cysts, abnormal formation of, in different parts of the body,

especially around the neck, throat, and ovaries, and in the bladder or scrotum.

· Digestive problems - diarrhea, constipation, abdominal distension,

bloating or pain, gas, mucus in the stools, hiatal hernia, ulcers, suffering

from bacteria, i.e. salmonella, E. coli, h. pylori, etc.

· Ears - ringing in the ears (tinnitus), sounds in the ears, ear

infections, dryness, itchiness, ear pain, ear aches, ear discharges, fluid in

ears, deafness, abnormal wax build-up.

· Eyes - erratic vision, spots in front of eyes (eye floaters) and

flashing lights; redness, dryness, itching, excessive tearing, inability to

tear, etc.

· Fatigue (chronic fatigue syndrome or Epstein Barr) or a feeling of

being drained of energy, lethargy, drowsiness.

· Flu-like symptoms.

· Glands — swollen, too little saliva (dryness in the mouth), blocked

salivary glands, swollen lymph nodes.

· Hair loss, scum on the scalp, dandruff, itchy scalp, scalp sores and

dryness.

· Heart palpitations and irregular heart beat.

· Headaches, migraines, brain fog, dizziness, etc.

· Hemorrhoids, and rectal itching, rash, irritation and redness.

· Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), and diabetes

· Hypothyroidism, Wilson's Thyroid Syndrome, Hashimoto's disease,

hyperthyroidism, erratic thyroid function, etc.

· Irritability, nervousness, jitteriness and panic attacks.

· Male associated problems - jock itch, loss of sex drive, impotence,

prostitis, penis infections, difficulty urinating, urinary frequency or

urgency, painful intercourse, swollen scrotum, etc.

· Feeling of swelling and tingling in the head.

· Female health problems - infertility, vaginitis, unusual odors,

endometriosis (irregular or painful menstruation), cramps, menstrual

irregularities, pre-menstrual syndrome (PMS), discharge, painful intercourse,

loss of

sexual drive, redness or swelling of the vulva and surrounding area, vaginal

itching, burning or redness, or persistent infections.

· Fungal infections of the skin or nails, i.e. ringworm, saborrheic

dermatitis, dark and light patches on the skin (tinea versicolor), etc.

· Joint pain, stiffness or swelling (arthritis).

· Kidney & bladder - infections, cystitis (inflammation of the bladder

with possible infection), urinary frequency or urgency, low urine output,

smelly urine, difficulty urinating, burning pain when urinating.

· Lack of appetite.

· Mind & Mood - anxiety attacks, crying spells, memory loss, feeling

spaced out, depression (including suicidal feelings), manic feelings,

inability to concentrate, mood swings, irritability, etc.

· Mouth sores or blisters, canker sores, dryness, bad breath, a white

coating on the tongue (thrush) and blocked salivary glands.

· Muscle aches and pain, numbness, burning or tingling, and lack of

strength and coordination.

· Nasal congestion, postnasal drip, itching, dryness.

· Odor of the feet, hair or body not relieved by washing.

· Respiratory - cough, bronchitis or pneumonia, pain or tightness in

the chest, wheezing, shortness of breath, asthma.

· Sick all over feeling.

· Sinus inflammation, swelling and infections.

· Skin — dryness, dry red patches, acne, pimples, hives, rashes,

itching skin, eczema, psoriasis, seborrhoea, ringworm, contact dermatitis,

rosacea, etc.

· Stomach — h. pylori bacteria (causes ulcers), heartburn,

indigestion, hiatal hernia, acid reflux, belching, vomiting, burning, stomach

pains,

needle-like pains, food that seems to sit in the stomach like a lump, etc.

· Sleep - insomnia, waking up frequently, nightmares, restless sleep,

etc.

· Sore throat, hoarse voice, constant tickle in the throat, laryngitis

(loss of voice), etc.

Autoimmune Diseases, Cancer & the Candida Connection

Autoimmune diseases and other diseases, such as cancer and autism, have a

candida connection. When the immune system is severely depressed it can cause

many viruses, bacteria, diseases and malfunctions, i.e. Adrenal malfunction,

Arthritis, Cancer, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Celiac Disease/Gluten

Sensitivity, Crohn's Disease, Epstein-Barr Virus (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome),

Fibromyalgia (muscle pain, stiffness and weakness), Thyroid Diseases, HIV/AIDS,

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Liver Disease, Lupus, Multiple Sclerosis,

Myasthenia

Gravis (a neuromuscular disease), Sjogren's (glands become blocked and

inflamed, interfering with the production of tears and saliva), Rheumatoid

Arthritis, and many others.

Candida is very opportunist when the immune system malfunctions, with

candida overgrowth found in most cases of disease, including cancer, AIDS,

infection, etc. Diseases and malfunctions listed above, and all autoimmune

diseases

respond very well to this candida program, particularly the diet, because it

builds up and strengthens the immune system enabling the body to heal itself

naturally.

 

What causes candida to get out of control?

 

A healthy immune system keeps Candida in balance with other micro-organisms

in the mucous membranes. But under certain conditions Candida begins to

overgrow and get out of control. Anything that causes the immune system to

become

depressed can cause Candida, but antibiotics are the biggest culprits because

they wipe out friendly micro-organisms, particularly in the digestive

system.

Candida is resistant to antibiotics so this imbalance of micro-organisms

allows it to take over. Other factors that depress the immune system include

poor nutrition, environmental toxins, drugs, vaccines, and stress, to name a

few.

Poor Nutrition

Poor nutrition is one of the major contributors to Candida because it

weakens the immune system which allows candida to overgrow. Today's standard

diet

lacks the necessary nutrients to maintain a healthy immune system. It is

loaded with sugar, high carbohydrates, man-made oils and fats (margarine,

Crisco,

Mazola oil, Canola oil, etc., includes all vegetables oils except olive oil),

white flour products, processed foods, food additives, preservatives,

pesticides, and heavy metals. Sugar is the biggest contributor to candida

overgrowth.

The average person living in the western world consumes about 125 pounds of

refined table sugar every year! In addition to the many other damages to

health, sugar is the main food supply of Candida.

The average person also consumes a diet very high in carbohydrates which

also feeds Candida. Even the food pyramid published by our governments is

turned

totally upside down, with grains and other carbs at the bottom, and fats at

the top, but the opposite is actually healthiest for human health.

Our high consumption of sugar, carbs and poor nutrition has been greatly

influenced by the food industry. The food pyramid was greatly influenced by the

food industry in order to save sell their nutrient-devoid foods and

chemicals. Their main motivation is money! The food industry would have us

convinced

that we restrict our eating to only dead foods that have no nutritional value

whatsoever!

Every year the food industry spends millions of dollars lobbying for laws so

they can save time and money processing and storing foods, that allow

chemical preservatives, additives, coloring agents, foaming agents, binders,

thickeners, stabilizers, emulsifiers, and many other chemicals.

These laws benefit the food industry but it means foods are stripped of

nutrients, damaged by chemicals, high heat, hydrogenation, and pasteurization

which are very toxic and damaging to the human body.

Some laws allow the food industry to kill foods by irradiation, a process

where foods are exposed to high levels of radiation, which disrupts the DNA of

bacteria so that it cannot reproduce, thus extending shelf life; this is the

same as microwaving. But in certain cases they are not required to label such

foods. The current permissible radiation dosage is about 200 million times

greater than a chest x-ray.

When food is irradiated the radiation breaks up the molecular structure of

the food and creates a whole new set of chemicals known as " unique radiolytic

products " (URPs). These URPs include benzene, formaldehyde and a host of

known mutagens (capable of inducing mutation) and carcinogens (capable of

inducing cancer). Irradiation kills vitamins, friendly bacteria and enzymes,

and

effectively renders the food " dead. "

This makes these foods totally useless to your body. Radiation is used to

clean up foods unfit for human consumption, such as spoiled fish, by killing

odorous contaminating bacteria. It also kills some friendly bacteria that

naturally control the growth of harmful bacteria.

There are hundred's of tests that prove the damage irradiated foods cause to

humans. Short term studies were done on children in India, and blood tests

showed chromosomal damage to the children after 6 weeks. Short term tests were

done on dogs using irradiated beef; the dogs ended up with enlarged spleens

and swollen lymph nodes.

Other studies, including those done under contract for the U.S. Government,

indicate the possibility of immunotoxicity (destroys cells), kidney disease,

cardiac thrombus (a fibrinous clot that forms in one of the chambers of the

heart), testicular damage and fibroplasias (the formation of fibrous tissue).

However, the food industry would rather irradiate instead of cleaning up

their production system.

Since the early 1970s, hormones have been used extensively in the production

of beef and milk in North America, with hormone development research

starting as far back as the 1950s.

Two-thirds of cattle raised in the U.S. are treated with these hormones. The

hormones are implanted or injected into cattle at various stages of maturity

in order to promote faster growth.

Hormones used in beef cattle include the male hormone testosterone and its

synthetic equivalent trenbolone acetate, and the female hormone progesterone

including three synthetic derivatives. This synthetic form of progesterone

shares similar characteristics with a class of other molecules called endocrine

disrupters that imitate other human hormones in the body and have been linked

to diseases such as cancer.

Endocrine disrupters are exogenous (originating from outside the body)

substances that cause adverse biological effects by interfering with the

endocrine

system and disrupting the production and function of hormones.

The foundations of the endocrine system are the hormones and glands.

Hormones are the body's chemical messengers, and they transfer information and

instructions from one set of cells to another. Although many different hormones

circulate throughout the bloodstream, each one affects only the cells that are

genetically programmed to receive and respond to its message.

The endocrine system mainly consists of the adrenals, thyroid, pituitary,

and reproductive glands, which include the ovaries and testes. Hormones are

also produced by the pancreas, brain, heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, thymus,

skin, and placenta.

Meanwhile most of our food is grown on soil that is sadly depleted of

life-giving nutrients, and many toxic chemicals are contained in our foods

because

of chemicals used to fight off predators, insects and disease. Again, these

are done to save time and money, but they have absolutely no benefit for the

consumer. In fact, the reverse is true.

None of us choose to have hazardous pesticides in our bodies yet the Center

for Disease Control found pesticides in 100% of the people tested. The

average person in this group carried a toxic cocktail of 13 of the 23

pesticides

that were analyzed. Many of the pesticides found in test subjects have been

linked to serious short- and long-term health effects including infertility,

birth defects and childhood and adult cancers.

The combined effects of multiple exposures are unknown, but a growing body

of research suggests that even at very low levels the combination of these

chemicals are very harmful to our health.

Environmental Issues

Environmental issues also adversely affect the immune system, i.e. molds,

chemicals, smoke, pesticide spraying, smog, electro-magnetic and radiation

exposure (computers, TVs, microwave ovens, electrical outlets and appliances,

power lines, etc.)

The immune system is also depressed by many toxic substances including

drugs, medicines, birth control pills, vaccines, fluoridated water, as well as

toxic ingredients contained in household and personal care products, i.e.

shampoo, body lotions, makeup, detergents, air fresheners, cleaning agents,

synthetic carpets, etc.

Emotional stress, losses, accidents, injuries, and financial worries and

concerns also depress the immune system. Chemical compounds are found

everywhere

in our food, air, and water are now found in every person.

The accumulation of these compounds in some individuals can cause a variety

of dysfunctions, and in some cases outright disease. The systems most

affected by these xenobiotic compounds (a chemical or substance that is foreign

to

an organism or biological system) include the immune, neurological, and

endocrine systems.

Toxicity in these systems can lead to immune dysfunction, autoimmunity,

asthma, allergies, cancer, learning difficulties, mood changes, neurological

illnesses, changes in sexual desire and functioning, reproductive dysfunction,

and upsets in blood glucose levels, etc. with candida overgrowth the central

factor in all of these health issues.

Drugs

No one ever gets sick from a lack of drugs. Any and all diseases and

illnesses are due to a lack of nutrients and an overload of toxins. One of the

major

sources of toxins are drugs, including over-the-counter medicines, birth

control pills, hormone replacement treatment, blood pressure lowering drugs,

pain killers, anti-depressants, which are extremely toxic and poisonous to the

body. The difference between drugs and natural substances is:

Drugs " force " therapeutic actions to take place in the body that suppresses

symptoms and has negative side-effects, while natural foods and substances

nourish the body's ability to decide needed actions as it sees fit.

Drugs are can only be legalized by the FDA (Food & Drug Administration),

however the FDA relies on drug company studies and research, and a significant

portion of their budget is funded by the very companies they are supposedly

regulating. That means we are paying our own government agency, which is

supposed to protect us, to actually make us sicker or kill us with drugs.

Senator Grassley stated that " things that go on in the FDA don't really

protect the consumer. " Moreover, the FDA, in Senator Grassley's opinion,

doesn't

deserve the automatic " seal of approval " it possesses when it comes to drugs.

 

Representative

Joe Barton, Texas, stated " prescription drugs approved by the FDA should keep

you out of the hospital, not send you to one. "

 

Prescription drugs supposedly taken for medical reasons often have no true

medical function, like Ritalin, which is mainly used to keep children docile,

and statin drugs to lower cholesterol, which treat symptoms but not actual

health problems. On the other hand, many drugs that are banned, like marijuana,

have demonstrated medical benefits. That in addition to the fact that many

prescription drugs are addictive, and they kill more people each year than all

illegal drugs combined.

The real factor that determines whether a drug is legal or whether it is

banned is not safety, addiction or medical function, but whether corporations

or

the government profits. Sometimes substances are banned in some forms but

not others, i.e. Ephedra is banned when found in the unpatentable Chinese herb

ma huang, but legal when found in profitable Sudafed and cold medicines. It's

all about the money!

The truth is that the current system produces a well-organized system for

manufacturing, promoting, delivering and selling deadly, addictive drugs, in

order to create corporate profits and tax revenues. What a sad state of affairs

that is!

Vaccines

 

 

Vaccines are based on the " antibody theory " and the " germ theory of

disease. " Both of these theories are totally false. First of all you cannot and

do

not " catch " germs, bacteria or viruses, nor can you " catch " candida overgrowth

or cancer. The following text disproves the " Germ Theory of Disease " as

promoted by the medical industry today which started with Louis Pasteur in the

early 1800s.

Louis Pasteur was a French microbiologist and chemist, born on December 27,

1822 in Dole, in the region of Jura, France. His discovery that most

infectious diseases are caused by germs, known as the " germ theory of disease, "

became the foundation for the science of microbiology, and a cornerstone of

modern

medicine.

" Pasteur also developed 'pasteurization', which was named after him.

Pasteurization is a process by which harmful microbes in perishable food

products

are destroyed using heat, without destroying the food. " However, this is not

true. Pasteurization does NOT kill ALL harmful microbes and it DOES damage the

food by destroying natural enzymes and nutrients.

However, Louis Pasteur was not an honest creditable individual. If you look

back into the history of the medical profession and the various ideas

regarding the cause of disease that were held by leading physicians before

Pasteur

first declared his notorious " germ theory " , you will find convincing evidence

that Pasteur discovered nothing, and that he deliberately appropriated,

falsified and perverted another man's work.

His true character and methods were brought to light by Miss Ethel Douglas

Hume in her book " Pasteur or Bechamp " written in 1923, the title of which has

since been changed to " Pasteur Exposed "

It was Antoine Bechamp (1816--1908), a contemporary of Pasteur, who

discovered the true nature of germs, bacteria, viruses, etc. and that they

change

form, called pleomorphism. He discovered they all arise from microbes called

microzymas which exist everywhere in nature and are found in all animals, fish,

plants, rocks, insects, and in human bodies.

Under certain non-optimal conditions when the immune system is depressed or

the body is overloaded with toxins microzymas change into viruses in order to

affect healing and detoxifying of the body. When the body's condition is not

improved viruses change into bacteria and so on. Eventually, in the

deteriorating cycle, candida and other fungus evolve, and also cancer.

Therefore viruses, germs, bacteria, candida, and even cancer, are not the

cause of, but the result of, disease, arising from tissues rather than from a

When it comes to the antibody theory please remember that antibodies are

tested only in a laboratory, and as the article " Jabs and Journeys " states: " .

.. vaccinations [to build up antibodies] are artificial procedures which can

be found to be protective in artificial situations. What we want to know is

how effective are they in the natural situation of the real world? The

laboratory can tell us little about this. "

This, in addition to the fact that the medical community follows these

antibody rules:

1. High antibodies equals an allergy.

2. High antibodies equals immunity.

3. However, in the case of HIV high antibodies means you are infectious!

That doesn't make sense! The rules change when it comes to HIV? Yet the

opposite is true for all other diseases? The fact is:

1. People who are the most immune have low antibodies levels.

2. If HIV tests were not diluted to a ratio of 1:400 everyone would have

infectious HIV.

3. Antibody allergy tests are based on the theory that high circulating

levels of IgG antibodies correlate with clinical food allergy signs and

symptoms, however high serum levels of IgG and other allergy tests has not been

studied, nor verified, therefore it is quite a leap to conclude that IgG to

food

antigens correlates to signs and symptoms of food allergy. Also the fact is

that laboratories do not use pure antigens to test the blood samples from

patients.

How candida overgrows, causing symptoms, diseases and dysfunction

 

When Candida is allowed to get out of control it changes its shape and

starts branching out raising large families called colonies. These Candida

colonies excrete over 79 different types of toxins (chemicals) that circulate

throughout the body weakening the immune system and causing numerous symptoms

and

dysfunctions throughout the body.

Two toxins that are particularly devastating are called acetaldehyde and

ethanol (a type of alcohol). Both act like poisons on the various tissues of

the

body and can cause lesions.

These chemicals cause all of the cells in the body to go rigid, even white

and red blood cells. Flexibility is very important for the functioning of

cells, which allows nutrients and hormones to go in, and waste materials to go

out, as well as other important activities.

Red blood cells carry oxygen throughout the body and must be flexible enough

to squeeze down to about one-seventh their normal size in order to travel

into the body's tiny capillaries. When they become rigid the transport of

life-giving oxygen to all the tissues and organs is impaired. This causes the

tissues and organs to lose their ability to function. It is also why many

candida

sufferers have cold hands and feet.

White blood cells fight infection by wrapping part of itself around a

bacteria or other foreign invader, swallowing the invader, and eventually

destroying it. White blood cells that have become brittle and rigid by yeast

toxins

can not do their job. The result - you can't fight off infection as easily.

There's more. Defective cell membranes may interfere with the ability of

glucose (blood sugar) to penetrate the cells, a job normally accomplished with

the help of insulin. When cell membranes are damaged, the insulin will have

trouble doing its job — and insulin levels may have to be increased.

This causes low blood sugar levels (hypoglycaemia; also called insulin

reaction) resulting in low energy, light headedness, and sometimes even a coma.

This exhausts the pancreas, causing it to dysfunction as well.

Hormones regulate various body functions by traveling through the

bloodstream to vital areas of the body, and Candida toxins interfere with this

process.

Candida toxins make all of the cells rigid in organs responsible for

producing hormones, so they are less capable of producing hormones. Hormones

that

are produced enter the bloodstream yet they have trouble getting to their

intended destination.

Once they arrive, they have difficulty getting into rigid cell membranes.

Hormones can not do their intended job if they don't achieve adequate levels in

the body's cells! Such hormones include thyroid, estrogen, progesterone,

testosterone, and many others, even those that regulate digestion and the

release of digestive juices.

Nutrients such as potassium, calcium, and other minerals also have trouble

getting into rigid cell walls. This can result in fluid retention, electrolyte

imbalances, and a number of other problems.

In fact every nutrient required by the body will have difficulty getting

into rigid cells throughout the body, including protein (amino acids), fats,

carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals. Rigid cells are also not as able to get

rid of their waste and regulate water.

If that isn't enough problems caused by candida, Candida also produces very

long root-like structures that penetrate intestinal walls. These root-like

structures cause considerable damage to the walls of the intestines resulting

in poor digestion and mal-absorption of nutrients.

This, in addition to foods being irradiated (exposed to high levels of

radiation to extend shelf life), foods being grown in nutrient- depleted soil,

long storage and transportation times, and improper handling, along with

improper cooking and microwaving that goes on in most homes, all result in

depleted

nutrients.

All of these factors contribute to a weakened immune system. A weakened

immune system cannot keep Candida in check, allowing it to overgrow and get out

of control.

 

How do you know you have candida?

 

With such a wide variety of symptoms that mimic many other diseases, how do

you know that your problem is candida overgrowth? Unfortunately most

laboratory tests cannot confirm the presence of candida. The reason is because

candida is a normal inhabitant in all our bodies and everyone will have a

certain

number of yeast antibodies which are produced by a healthy immune system to

keep yeast under control.

However, even if you do not have candida yet you are very ill, if you follow

the main principles of this diet and take the basic supplements recommended

you will improve your health tremendously. This is a " healing " program, just

as much as it is a candida program.

Your body does not get sick from a lack of drugs; it gets sick from a lack

of nutrients plus an overload of toxins, which includes drugs.

In order to get Candida overgrowth under control four things need to be

done, as listed below. It is best to start this program by making changes one

at

a time in order to allow your body time to adjust to each change so it is

does not become overwhelmed or confused.

A gradual approach will also not tax your ability to cope beyond what you

can comfortably handle, giving you more control and success, therefore avoiding

feelings of failure and despair.

Steps 1 and 2 should be worked on at the same time. While you are

eliminating sugar, grains, high carbs, etc., at the same increase proteins and

good

saturated fats. Good saturated fats provide an excellent, and much more

efficient, source of energy than carbs. They will also heal and strengthen the

digestive system, and help pull nutrients out of foods.

Proteins and good fats are much easier for the body to digest than any

carbohydrates (any foods not classified as a protein or a fat).

When you are ready for Step 3, antifungals, you would also continue

following Steps 1 and 2. After adding Step 4 you will be doing all 4 steps at

the

same time. You would continue doing all 4 steps until you have cured your

candida.

As you make changes you will experience withdrawal symptoms and cravings, as

it needs to heal. Also the diet and supplements alone will kill off candida

causing detoxing symptoms. Many good unadulterated foods will cause healing

Step 1) Eliminate foods that feed Candida

 

1. Sugar of all kinds, including fruit and dairy (except butter).

2. Foods high in carbohydrates.

3. All grains, nuts, seeds and legumes.

Candida's main food supply is sugar and all forms of it such as lactose

contained in dairy products (except butter), honey, maple syrup, molasses,

glucose, fructose, lactose, and sugar substitutes, i.e. NutraSweet, aspartame,

saccharin, etc. — see list below. Eliminating sugar is the most important

part of

the Candida Program.

All fruits, except lemons and limes, are also very high in sugar (fructose)

and should not be eaten until you have cured your candida. Some vegetables

that are also high in sugar must also be eliminated, i.e. carrots, yams, sweet

potatoes, parsnips, beets and others.

Even though lemons and limes are allowed on the candida diet, providing many

health benefits, they should not be consumed in large amounts because they

contain fructose, which will feed candida.

Sugar is also contained is most processed foods such as smoked luncheon

meats, ketchup, soup, etc. so reading labels carefully is very important.

labels can be tricky if you don't know the many names of sugar and

Please note, not all sugar substitutes directly feeds Candida, but all of

them damage the immune system, and most are neurotoxic (causing damage and

disturbances to the brain and nervous system). Stevia is the only sweetener

that

is allowed for candida sufferers, but it should only be consumed in very

small amounts, because like all sugar it will increase cravings for sugar and

high carbohydrate foods.

The fact that sugar greatly depresses the immune system has been known for

many years, mainly because of Linus Pauling. He is the only person ever to

receive two unshared Nobel Prizes — for Chemistry (1954) and for Peace

(1962).

He concluded that white blood cells need a high dose of vitamin C, and so he

developed his theory that high doses of vitamin C were needed to combat the

common cold, the flu and even cancer.

Did you know that vitamin C and sugar have similar chemical structures so

that means they compete with one another for entry into the cells. If there is

more sugar around less vitamin C is allowed into the cell, and vice versa.

It is interesting that taking vitamin C also helps curb sugar, alcohol and

high carbohydrate cravings. Since our bodies cannot make vitamin C on it's own

it must be obtained from foods or supplements on a daily basis.

Insulin Resistance

Insulin is a hormone secreted by the pancreas. It helps the body utilize

blood glucose (blood sugar) by binding with receptors on cells like a key would

fit into a lock. Once the key insulin has unlocked the door, the glucose can

pass from the blood into the cell. Inside the cell, glucose is either used

for energy or stored for future use in the form of glycogen in the liver or

muscle cells.

The body's cells become insulin resistant because they are trying to protect

themselves from the toxic effects of high insulin which is required to

regulate blood sugar levels when the diet is high in sugar and/or

carbohydrates.

This causes the cells to down-regulate their receptor activity and the numbers

of their receptors so they don't have to receive 'that noxious stimuli' all

the time.

It is like having this loud disgusting music being played and you have to

turn down the volume. Insulin resistance leads to blood sugar problems like

hypoglycemia and diabetes, and to high blood pressure.

A less known fact is that insulin also stores magnesium. But if your cells

become resistant to insulin you can't store magnesium, so it is lost through

urination. Intracellular magnesium relaxes muscles. What happens when you

can't store magnesium because the cell is resistant? You lose magnesium and

your

blood vessels and muscles constrict.

This causes blood pressure to increase and reduces energy since

intracellular magnesium is required for all energy producing reactions that

take place in

the cell. But most importantly, magnesium is also necessary for the action

of insulin and the manufacture of insulin. When your insulin is raised, you

lose magnesium, and the cells become even more insulin resistant.

It becomes a vicious cycle that begins even before you were born. This is

another very good reason not to eat sugar and high carbohydrate foods.

2. Eliminate foods high in carbohydrates

Candida also feeds on high carbohydrate foods such as starches and grains,

including breads, pasta, pizza, cereals, baked goods, beans, potatoes, peas,

lima beans, etc. Some vegetables must also be avoided because they are also

high in sugars and/or carbohydrates, i.e. beets, squash, corn, parsnips, sweet

potatoes, yams, carrots, etc.

These high carb, or starchy, foods store their energy as complex strands of

sugar molecules (starch), which acts just like sugar in the body. That is why

grains are just as addictive as sugar. After being off all sugar and grains

for a few days you will find your craving for both of them will decrease. A

high-complex-carbohydrate diet is nothing more than a high-glucose diet or a

high-sugar diet.

All carbohydrates turn into glucose (blood sugar) in the body, and 58% of

protein and 10% of the fat are also converted by the body into glucose. Our

bodies can fulfill all of its blood sugar requirements by a diet of proteins

and

good nature-made fats alone. That is why Eskimos are very healthy on their

natural diet of only meats and fats.

These are all good reasons why Candida sufferers must eliminate starches and

grains, and some high carb vegetables.

3. Eliminate all grains, seeds, nuts and legumes*

*Note: Legumes (French) are plants with seed pods, i.e. beans and peas, but

not green, yellow or string beans.

All grains feed Candida because they have a high glycemic index just like

sugar, and like sugar they feed Candida and create insulin resistance within

the cells.

Also, some grains contain gluten, which is an elastic gluey protein found in

wheat, rye, barley, oats, spelt, kamut, triticale, and it is hidden in an

endless variety of processed foods. Triticale is a new hybrid grain with the

properties of wheat and rye, while spelt and kamut are gluten-containing wheat

variants (despite claims to the contrary) and are likely to cause problems

similar to other wheat varieties.

Gluten is a protein that is very difficult to digest, and causes a great

deal of intestinal damage. This damage, combined with the effects of yeast

overgrowth, makes the intestines incapable of absorbing nutrients such as

proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, and even water, in some

cases.

Most Candida sufferers are gluten intolerant, and have often been diagnosed

with celiac disease prior to finding out about candida.

Our grain food supply also contains mycotoxins (a toxin produced by a

fungus), especially found in corn and wheat. This inherent in the grain during

growth and it cannot be removed. Mycotoxins suppress immune function. See the

section on Yeast, Mold and Fungus for more information.

Grains that are safer to consume are more seed-like than grain-like, and

they do not contain gluten. These grains include amaranth, buckwheat, millet

and

quinoa. Brown rice is also a safe grain. However, these grains are high in

carbs, like all other grains, which feeds candida.

They should not be consumed until you've progressed far enough on the

candida program so your body can handle them. Some people who are losing weight

too

rapidly might have to eat small amounts of safe grains to stop their weight

loss, but even then they should only consume a maximum of 1/4 cup per day.

Even when it is safe for you to consume grains, nuts, seeds, and legumes,

they must all be properly prepared in order to make them fit to eat. This is

because they all contain phytic acid which combines with calcium, magnesium,

copper, iron and especially zinc in the intestinal tract and blocks their

absorption.

This is why a diet high in such foods may lead to serious mineral

deficiencies, bone loss and other related diseases, including Parkinson's, and

erratic u

nstable heart beats. Also improperly processed grains, seeds, nuts, legumes,

bran, etc. can cause irritable bowel syndrome, colon cancer, and many other

adverse affects.

Proper preparing involves soaking which allows enzymes, lactobacilli and

other helpful organisms to break down and neutralize phytic acid and their

protein blocking enzymes. Therefore all grains must be properly soaked, spouted

or

leavened with sour dough, to make them fit for anyone to eat, and all nuts,

seeds, and legumes must be soaked in an acidic medium or salt.

Animals that nourish themselves primarily on grain and other plant matter

are called herbivores. Some have as many as four stomachs, with longer

intestines and their digestion transit time is also longer. Many animals,

including

man, have one stomach and a much shorter intestine compared to herbivores.

These features allow man to digest animal products and natural fats easily,

but they make him less well adapted to digest plant foods, particularly

grains, legumes, nuts and seeds. In fact the human digestive system is totally

unable to break down fibers in plant foods.

The more fibre foods eaten the harder it is on the intestines, which have to

work very hard to get rid of all of those fibers, making the bowels move too

quickly. This also means fewer nutrients are being absorbed from foods.

Fibers are never a solution for constipation, in fact grains cause

constipation.

The solution to constipation is plenty of " good " saturated fats.

Lacto-Fermented Vegetables

The best way to eat plant foods is by lacto-fermenting them, i.e.

sauerkraut, kimchi, etc. Lacto-fermentation means the friendly bacteria of the

microscopic world do some digesting, but in a container. Lacto-fermented

vegetables

are pre-digested which makes them much easier for humans to digest than raw or

cooked vegetables.

Lacto-fermented vegetables also stabilize stomach acid in the stomach,

meaning that if acid is too high they will lower it, and if acid is too low

they

will raise it. It is recommended that you eat at least one tablespoon of

lacto-fermented vegetables with every meal. Buy unpasteurized organic

sauerkraut

from the health food store or make your own.

All candida sufferers must eliminate grains, seeds, nut and legumes in order

to overcome candida, and it is highly recommended that you eat some

lacto-fermented vegetables with every meal.

 

Step 2) Build up your immune system

 

1. Bee's Candida Control Diet.

2. Take essential supplements.

3. Eliminate yeast, mold and fungi.

4. Improve digestion.

Curing candida cannot be achieved if the wrong diet is constantly consumed,

or if yeast overgrowth damage is never reversed from previous drug and

antibiotic use, toxins, and poor nutrition. Eating the right foods is the most

important aspect of getting Candida under control, with the main purpose of

building up the immune system.

1. Bee's Candida Control Diet:

a. High protein, mainly from animal meats, eggs, and seafood (high

protein means " higher " than recommended on the current food pyramid or in most

people's diets today).

b. High " good " fats and oils, including oil soluble vitamins and omega-3

essential fatty acids.

c. No bad oils and fats, soybeans or soy products, or processed foods.

d. Low carbohydrates.

The recommended ratios of proteins to fats/oils to carbs are calculated

according to " The Optimal Diet " — see details at the end of this section,

just

before Essential Supplements.

All foods must be as fresh and natural as possible (unprocessed), and free

of additives, pesticides, heavy metals, irradiation, mycotoxins, neurotoxins

(MSG, carrageenan, etc.), etc.

· Mammal meats such as beef, lamb, and bison should be from " certified

organic " grass-fed free-range animals.

· Pork should be from pigs that are free-range and fed their natural

diet.

· Chicken should be free-range and allowed to eat their natural diet

which includes insects, worms and meats, like other birds.

· Fish should be from non-farmed sources, and as free of mercury and

other pollutants as possible.

· Good fats and oils include coconut oil, butter, palm oil, lard,

chicken fat, tallow, goose fat, fish oils, etc. The reason these are good fats

is

explained later on in this section. Fats and oils should not include any

" new-fangled " man-made fats, including all oils, shortening, and margarines,

from vegetable sources, except extra virgin olive oil.

Bad man-made fats and oils include those from Canola, safflower, soybean,

corn, etc. and any hydrogenated fats or oil (trans-fats), and any improperly

processed oils.

· Vegetables should be from reliable organic or " certified organic "

sources. Use of the word " organic " is not regulated, therefore it can be used

by anyone at will and therefore it has no meaning. " Certified organic " is

highly regulated and has to meet certain standards in order to carry the

designation.

" Certified organic " standards are different in each country, with places

like Chili and Mexico having lower standards than the United States and Canada.

a. High protein, mainly from animal meats, eggs, and seafood

It is important that Candida sufferers eat the amount of protein required by

their bodies from a selection of quality protein foods such as animal meats,

eggs, and seafood. Proteins are found in all types of food, but only meats,

eggs, cheese and other foods from animal sources contain complete proteins,

providing the eight essential amino acids that your body cannot produce on its

own.

Vegetables, fruits and grains contain incomplete proteins, and also do not

contain the fat-soluble vitamins required by the body for utilizing protein

and other nutrients.

Amino acids (made by the body from protein) provide the structure of all

living things and in the human body they make up the muscles, ligaments,

tendons, organs, glands, nails, hair and body fluids (except bile and urine).

Enzymes, hormones and genes also are comprised of various amino acids.

Protein in the diet has the unique quality of slowing the breakdown of

carbohydrates, which decreases the need for insulin secretion by the pancreas

and

it also stimulates glucagon release, that hormone that unlocks our stored

fuel. Protein also helps produce hydrochloric acid in the stomach.

The best protein sources are meats that are not mass-produced, such as lamb,

buffalo, bison, ostrich, venison or other wild game, or naturally raised

meat, including poultry, eggs, beef, and pork, and seafood that are not

farm-raised.

Poultry - Chickens and turkeys that are pastured naturally will come from

farms that are lush with pastures, and they will be healthy, producing deep

yellow to orange colored egg yolks and yellow fat. Local farms are a good

source

of free-range certified organic poultry that are free of antibiotics,

hormones, pesticides and herbicides.

These poultry are not " stressed, " while mass-produced chickens are raised in

severely cramped quarters and fed foods that are unnatural to them. This

results in not only reduced health value, but less taste and less good fat.

Please note: Use of the term " free-range " is not a regulated, so it can be

used by anyone at will, just like the words " natural " or " organic. "

Eggs are one of the most nutritious foods you can eat - They are a great

source of high-quality protein and are rich in vitamins and nutrients essential

to health, including B vitamins, vitamin A and vitamin E. In fact the only

reliable and absorbable sources of vitamin B12 are from animal products,

especially organ meats and eggs. Vitamin B12 is vital to a healthy nervous

system

and healthy blood and the one of the important nutrients lacking in

vegetarians.

Raw, whole, organic eggs are phenomenally inexpensive, and are an incredible

source of high-quality nutrients that many of us are deficient in,

especially high-quality protein and fat. While it may take getting used to

them,

eating raw eggs is a simple way to improve your mind and your overall health.

Eating cooked eggs will not have the same effect, although the less you cook

the egg yolk (such as soft-boiled), the better it will be nutritionally. The

Grass-fed beef — Beef that is truly grass-fed is a natural source of omega-3

fats (essential fatty acid) and vitamins A, D and E. True vitamin A, or

retinol, is only found in animal fats and organs like liver. On the other hand

plants contain beta-carotene, a substance that the body can convert into

vitamin A (retinol) if certain conditions are present.

But some people have difficulty converting beta-carotene, especially those

with thyroid problems. Most candida sufferers have thyroid problems.

Beta-carotene is not " true " vitamin A.

Grass-fed beef is also an ideal source of taurine and carnitine, needed for

healthy eyes and a healthy heart, and it contains coenzyme Q10, another key

nutrient for the cardiovascular system. Beef is also an excellent source of

minerals like magnesium and zinc.

All cattle are grass-fed to some small extent, but during the few months

prior to being processed most cattle are fed grains in order to fatten them up.

Feeding them grains seriously depletes the nutrients in the meat and also

makes the animals sick, which requires high doses of antibiotics.

The best sources of grass-fed meats are local farmers that practice organic

farming and provide their animals with lots of room to free-range and forage

on grass. Beef should be butchered in the fall after a summer of feeding on

fresh grass.

Fish, unlike mammals, birds and reptiles do not respond to sunlight and must

feed upon phytoplankton and other fish in order to obtain and store

significant vitamin D in their fat, flesh, skin, and organs.

Unfortunately, most fish available contains high mercury levels and other

toxins, particularly farm-raised trout and salmon. The safest sources of fish

are fresh and wild-caught from the ocean, and not from inland lakes, rivers or

streams.

Fresh fish is not labeled thoroughly so it is wise to ask about the source

of the fish, i.e. from farm, lake or ocean, in order to find out whether it is

fresh, wild-caught ocean-going fish, or shell fish and fish roe (fish eggs)

in season from clean waters.

Good fish include Wild Alaskan or Pacific salmon, Summer Flounder, Croaker,

Haddock, Arctic Char, fresh sardines, shrimp, herring, and anchovies. Fresh

cold-water fish are also good, i.e. tuna, cod, haddock, herring, perch, and

snapper are also good since they spend their lifetimes in the open seas distant

from contaminated coastal waters.

Canned skipjack or albacore tuna are safer than canned bluefin or yellowfin

tuna. Small seafood, such as oysters, sardines, anchovies and shrimp are okay

to eat since they are small enough to have minimal contamination. Buy all

canned fish that is packed in olive oil or spring water.

Avoid fish species that stay in coastal waters, or from inland lakes, rivers

or streams, and those that consume near the top of the food chain, i.e.

bluefish, carp, catfish, striped bass, trout, etc.

b. High " good " fats and oils, including oil soluble vitamins and omega-3

essential fatty acids.

Good fats and oils are equally important to protein in the diet and they are

essential to health. They not only increase the body's ability to absorb

nutrients from the foods but also provide the most efficient source of energy.

Carbohydrates require a lot of the body's resources and energy in order to

be digested and utilize them, whereas good saturated fats go directly into the

bloodstream, providing a direct efficient source of energy and nutrients.

They also provide the building blocks for cell membranes and a variety of

hormones and hormone-like substances.

Good fats act as carriers for important fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K

and for the conversion of carotene to vitamin A, for mineral absorption and

for a host of other processes. The kinds of fats consumed greatly influences

the assimilation and utilization of vitamin D as well.

Cholesterol is a molecule which is also called a lipid or fat. It is a soft,

waxy substance found in all cells in your body. Contrary to propaganda from

the drug and medical industry, cholesterol is produced in the liver from

carbohydrates, not from fats or oils. It is an important part of a healthy body

because the body uses it to form cell membranes, some hormones and for many

other important functions.

The word " cholesterol " is confusing because foods also contain cholesterol,

which are fats or oils, i.e. animal meats, egg yolks, dairy products, nuts,

Hormones, like estrogen and testosterone, are made from cholesterol and bile

times more cholesterol than you eat, and because cholesterol is made from

The right kind of fat is nature-made saturated fat, in spite of what we've

low-fat diets in order to sell drugs.

The truth is, natural nature-made fats and oils have components found only

in them, which are health-promoting, and all newfangled man-made fats are now

known to be disease-causing. Health-giving saturated fats are stable and do

not become rancid easily, and they do not draw upon the body's reserves of

antioxidants, nor do they initiate cancer or irritate the artery walls like

Healthy saturated fats are an important part of any healthy meal. It draws

Coconut oil is highly resistant to spoilage and has a long shelf life (2 years

at room temperature), so it is not kept refrigerated. It is kept in the

cupboard or on the kitchen counter. Like other saturated fats coconut oil goes

solid when cooled below room temperature.

Coconut oil has a high burning point and is the perfect oil for cooking. It

can be used alone, or mixed with butter, lard or other good fats for cooking

and frying.

Coconut oil can be taken by the spoonfuls with meals to aid digestion or

melted on cooked foods. The recommended therapeutic dose for candida sufferers

or anyone who is unhealthy is 5-6 tablespoons per day, in divided doses,

preferably with meals that contain protein.

Since coconut oil is antifungal, antiparasitic, antibacterial and antiviral,

etc. it will create die-off or healing reactions in people who are

unhealthy, but it will be particularly pronounced in candida sufferers.

The most common healing reaction is diarrhea because coconut oil helps clean

out toxins, and diarrhea is a way for the body to get rid of toxins. Other

healing reactions may include increased mucus in the intestines, nose,

sinuses, lungs, etc.

To minimize healing reactions or die-off start taking coconut oil at a low

dose (1/2 to 1 teaspoon 3 times a day) and gradually increase the amount every

4-5 days until you reach the maximum therapeutic dose of 5-6 tablespoons per

day. It is also important to take coconut oil in divided doses during the

day and not all at once.

Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) - There are also two types of essential fatty

acids that must be obtained from the diet and these are omega-3 and omega-6.

They are called essential because we have to get them from food because our

bodies can't manufacture them from other fats.

Most people's diets contain an excessive amount of omega-6, therefore it is

important to ensure the diet contains more omega-3 rich foods to offset this

imbalance.

Good sources of omega-3s are animal meats and eggs. But there is an

important difference in the ratio of omega-6s to omega-3s according to how the

animals are fed and raised. For example, grain-fed beef can have ratios that

exceed

20:1, but grass-fed beef is down around 3:1.

These ratios are also found in all grain-fed versus grass-fed livestock.

Grass-fed livestock are rich in all fats that are health-enhancing. Similarly

free-range chickens produce eggs with an omega-6 to omega-3 ratio of 1.5 to

one, whereas commercial eggs have a ratio of 20 to one.

One of the best sources of omega-3 is found in fish. That is because omega-3

in fish is high in two fatty acids crucial to human health, which are called

eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). These two fatty

acids are essential to health, and also in preventing heart disease, cancer,

and many other diseases. EPA and DHA do not require conversion by the body

like alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) contained in flaxseed oil.

Flaxseed oil is not recommended as a source of omega-3 because it contains

alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) that must be converted in the body to useable

forms, which are EPA and DHA (form found in fish oils, and cod liver oil)

Most candida sufferer's bodies are incapable of making the conversion to EPA

and DHA, therefore they need to take fish oils or cod liver oil and not

flaxseed oil. Fish oils (Omega-3) are taken during the summer when enough

vitamin

D can be obtained from the sun, along with vitamin A, and cod liver oil is

taken during the winter, which contains vitamins A and D, and Omega-3.

Evening primrose oil and borage oil are recommended by many health

practitioners however they contain omega-6 and no omega-3, and the diet

contains

plenty of omega-6 without taking any extra supplements.

Fat-soluble vitamins include true vitamin A, called retinol, vitamin D,

vitamin E and vitamin K, as well as all of their naturally occurring cofactors.

All of these fat-soluble vitamins are essential to health and a healthy immune

system.

Vitamin A is all-important in our diets since it enables the body to use

proteins and minerals, ensures proper vision, acts as an antioxidant, enhances

the immune system, enables reproduction, and fights infections. It is also

important for the formation of bones and teeth. Protein cannot be utilized by

the body without Vitamin A.

Beta carotene found in plants is not a true Vitamin A since it requires

conversion from carotene to vitamin A in the intestines in order to be utilized

by the body. Most candida sufferers and unhealthy people are unable to make

this conversion, so it is best to consume enough " true " oil soluble vitamin A

from meats, liver, eggs and cod or halibut liver oil supplements.

Vitamin D is required for calcium and phosphorus absorption and utilization.

It is necessary for growth, for healthy bones and teeth, for proper

development of the brain and nervous systems and for normal sexual development.

Vitamin D normalizes blood sugar when there is adequate calcium in the diet.

Vitamin D is actually more of a hormone than it is a vitamin.

In order to achieve optimal levels of vitamin D from the sun 85% of body

surface needs exposure to prime midday sun (10:00 AM to 2:00 PM). Most people

require 800 — 1200 IUs of vitamin D daily. About 100-200 IUs of vitamin D are

produced for each 5 percent of body surface exposed.

Light skinned people need 10-20 minutes of exposure, while dark skinned

people need 90-120 minutes. It takes about 24 hours for UV-B-stimulated vitamin

D

to show up as maximum levels of vitamin D in the blood. Please note that

natural body oils are critical to this absorption process.

Because the body needs 30-60 minutes to absorb these vitamin D containing

oils, it is best to delay showering, bathing, or swimming in a chlorinated pool

for one hour after exposure.

Vitamin E is a very effective antioxidant that can be depleted by a low-fat

diet. Vitamin E improves circulation, promotes normal clotting and healing,

repairs tissue and reduces blood pressure.

Vitamin K is needed for blood clotting and plays an important role in bone

formation. It also converts glucose into glycogen for storage in the liver.

Vitamin K is made by the body in the large intestines. Most candida sufferers

have digestive problems and may not be able to make vitamin K but there is an

abundant supply in many foods, so there is no need to take extra supplements.

 

The best sources of these important fat-soluble vitamins are animal meats

and their by-products, i.e. grass-fed beef, free-range poultry, cod liver oil

or fish oil, lard from pigs exposed to sunlight, liver, wild fish, butter, and

eggs from free-range properly fed chickens, to name a few.

However, it is recommended that candida sufferers supplement some of these

all important oil soluble vitamins in order to obtain enough to boost their

Cod Liver Oil & Fish oils - Vitamin D and essential fatty acids contained in

fish are so essential to health it is important to take a supplement to

of

vitamin D is contained in some supplements, which is D2, also called

During summer months when sun exposure provides good levels of vitamin D by

acting on the natural oils of the skin it is advisable to take fish oils

that are high in omega-3s, such as salmon, krill, mackerel, etc., along with

vitamin A found by itself in fish oil or halibut liver oil capsules designated

as such (without vitamin D).

During winter months cod liver oil provides three important nutrients,

vitamins A and D, and omega-3. The amount of each of these nutrients varies

c. Eliminate man-made fats and oils, soybeans and soybean products, and

processed foods.

Candida sufferers cannot afford to jeopardize their health by consuming

toxic and damaging oils and fats, so they must avoid all of man-made

hydrogenated

(trans-fats) and polyunsaturated fats and oils made from vegetables oils,

except extra virgin olive oil. These man-made fats and oils are not only toxic

and increase the body's need for vitamin E and other antioxidants, but they

also greatly depress the immune system.

They are only one molecule away from being plastic, and they act just like

plastic in the body. You wouldn't melt down Tupperware and eat it, so you do

not want to eat any plastic fats and oils.

The hydrogenation process makes trans-fats, which are more damaging than any

The plants from which these oils and fats are produced have evolved a

variety of toxins designed to protect themselves from " predators " such as

grazing

animals, and their seeds contain a variety of toxins that seem to be specific

for mammalian ingestion.

The seed oils themselves block digestive enzymes that break down protein in

the stomach, and these digestive enzymes are necessary for proper digestion,

production of thyroid hormones, clot removal, immunity and general

adaptability of cells. Therefore using such plants to produce oils and fats is

unnatural, and very damaging to the body.

Unfortunately the body will incorporate these fats and oils into every cell,

which changes the cell membrane's structure. When these plastic fats and

oils are incorporated into the cells it makes them flabby so that they lack

Soybeans contain large quantities of natural toxins or " anti-nutrients, "

including potent enzyme inhibitors that block the action of enzymes needed for

protein digestion. These inhibitors are " not " deactivated during ordinary

cooking and can produce serious gastric distress, reduced protein digestion and

chronic deficiencies in amino acid (proteins) uptake.

In test animals, diets high in enzyme inhibitors cause enlargement and

pathological conditions of the pancreas, thyroid malfunction and other diseases

including cancer.

Soybeans also contain haemagglutinin, a clot-promoting substance that causes

red blood cells to clump together, and it contains one of the highest

percentages of pesticides of any of our foods, as well as being 99% genetically

modified. Soy causes a great deal of damage to the thyroid and other organs in

the body.

Soybeans are also high in phytic acid, present in the bran or hulls of all

Processed Foods should be avoided whenever possible. Not only do they

contain damaging substances and ingredients like additives, preservatives,

pesticides, emulsifiers, etc., but it almost impossible to find products that

do not

contain soybean products and man-made oils and fats such as canola,

safflower, corn, etc.

Processed products such as grains, nuts, seeds and legumes are not properly

prepared prior to processing so enzymes that block mineral absorption and

interfere with protein digestion are still intact. Even healthy people should

not consume such processed foods.

d. Low Carbohydrates

Low carbohydrate consumption is an important aspect of the Candida Control

Diet because high carbohydrate foods feed the Candida. Carbohydrates are any

foods not classified as protein or fat, including vegetables, grains, nuts,

seeds, legumes, and fruits.

Since grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, and most fruit (except lemons and limes)

are not allowed on the Candida Control Diet this leaves a wide variety of

vegetables that are healthy to consume. Vegetables that contain the lowest

How to Calculate Ratios of Proteins to Fats/Oils to Carbs

Ratios of proteins to good fats/oils to carbs are calculated according to

" The Optimal Diet " formula, which is based on your height in centimeters:

· Take your height in inches, i.e. 5' 6 " = 66

· Multiply your height in inches times 2.54 to get your height in

centimeters, i.e. 66 x 2.54 = 168.

· Subtract 100 from your height in centimeters, i.e. 168 — 100 =

68.Therefore 68 is the amount of protein grams you should eat daily.

· Take your protein times 2.5 to calculate the lower range of

fats/oils, i.e. 68 x 2.5 = 169 grams of fats/oils.

· Take your protein times 3.5 to calculate the higher range of

fats/oils, i.e. 68 x 2.5 = 237 grams of fats/oils.

· Take your protein times .8 to calculate carbs, i.e. 68 x .8 = 54

grams of carbs.If you are overweight take your protein times .5 to calculate

carbs, i.e. 68 x .5 = 34 grams of carbs.

2. Take essential supplements

Candida sufferers need to build up their immune system, not only with a

nutrient-rich diet, but also by supplementing with basic essential vitamins,

minerals and other nutrients.

Only Take Recommended Supplements

Most candida sufferers are much more successful if they only take the

essential supplements listed below. If you are currently taking any other

supplements it is best to gradually go off of them. Many supplements

recommended by

others, i.e. naturopaths, dieticians, and other healthcare professionals, are

because they do not understand what a truly good diet is. This leads them to

recommend supplements that are obtained from the nutrient-dense foods that are

Why Other Supplements are Unnecessary

Most " extra " supplements are totally unnecessary, often causing adverse

effects, or they are a complete waste of money. Kelp, seaweed and other green

supplements are good examples of this. Not only are many green supplements too

strong for sick people to handle, often overwhelming the body, but they also

contain too much iodine.

Iodine is only required in trace amounts in the body and you will get all

that your body requires by eating butter and by taking the recommended amount

of good ocean sea salt (1 1/2 teaspoons minimum per day). Too much iodine

causes just as much problem for the thyroid as too little.

Amino acids in supplement form or in powders are another example. Such

supplements are processed in pill or powdered form, often from soy, which has

glutamate (MSG), and MSG is a neurotoxin, meaning that it is poisonous to nerve

tissue or to the brain or spinal cord.

Such products may be advertised as " all natural, " but they are far from it,

Macrominerals

There are only seven (7) macrominerals required by the body in amounts of

1. Calcium/Magnesium Citrate, with " elemental amounts " (meaning the amount

that is absorbed) indicated on the label, with an equal ratio of calcium to

magnesium. Most supplements contain about 350 mgs of calcium per tablet. Take

one or more a day depending upon how much is contained in the diet from other

sources. Many calcium/magnesium supplements contain a ratio of 2:1 (calcium

to magnesium), in which case a separate supplement of magnesium citrate is

necessary to equal out the proportions.

Usually 1,000 to 1,200 mgs of calcium are recommended daily, with half that

amount of magnesium, but that not correct. In fact taking such a high amount

of calcium will cause imbalances in the body and be very damaging in the long

run. Most of us are more deficient in magnesium than in calcium, so it is

important to take at least an equal amount until you see how your body reacts.

Most candida sufferers will do very well on 600 mgs each of calcium and

magnesium per day in divided doses. Muscle cramps indicate you need more

magnesium, and possibly less calcium, and deep muscle pains indicate you've

taken

too much calcium. If you have more cramps and muscle pains on your left side it

indicates that your calcium intake is either too high or too low, and if you

have more cramps and muscle pains on your right side it indicates that your

magnesium intake is either too high or too low.

It is very difficult to balance calcium and magnesium, but each individual

must find their own optimal levels by experimentation. Your body can only

handle a maximum of 500 mgs of calcium at a time, so if you are taking more, it

must be split into smaller doses.

Eggshells are a great source of calcium. Eggshell calcium contains healthy,

balanced calcium because it also contains trace amounts of other minerals.

Eggshell calcium is probably the best natural source of calcium, and it is

2. Liquid Chlorophyll — Chlorophyll is a whole-food that contains a wide

array of vitamins, minerals and enzymes. It helps build the immune system,

detoxifies heavy metals (mercury, lead, cadmium, etc.), and other pesticides in

the body, improves the digestive system, improves energy levels and normalizes

blood sugar and blood pressure levels.

Note that chlorella used to be recommended, but too many candida sufferers

were intolerant of it, and it is difficult to find a good brand. Therefore,

only liquid chlorophyll is recommended. If you are currently taking chlorella

without any ill effects, you can continue taking it. One of the best liquid

chlorophyll products is Chlorofresh by Nature's Way, which is derived from

alfalfa.

It is available in 16 fluid ounce glass bottles. Liquid Chlorophyll Dose:

Take 1 tablespoon of liquid chlorophyll 3 times a day in 4 ounces of filtered

water.

3. Cod Liver Oil in the winter and Fish Oil in the summer

Cod liver oil provides omega-3, vitamin A and vitamin D. Get a good quality

product that is unrefined, containing naturally occurring vitamin A and D.

their cod liver oil is naturally occurring or synthetic.

Recommended Daily Nutrients for Candida:

Vitamin A: 20,000 to 30,000 IUs

Vitamin D: 800 to 1,200 IUs

Omega-3: 2,000 to 3,000 mgs

Fish Oil contains omega-3 only, and it is taken in the summer providing you

can get enough exposure to the sun. In order to achieve optimal levels of

vitamin D from the sun, 85% of body surface needs exposure to prime midday sun

(10:00 AM to 2:00 PM). About 100-200 IUs of vitamin D are produced for each 5

percent of body surface exposed.

Light skinned people need 10-20 minutes of exposure, while dark skinned

people need 90-120 minutes. It takes about 24 hours for UV-B-stimulated vitamin

D

to show up as maximum levels of vitamin D in the blood. Please note that

natural body oils are critical to this absorption process.

Because the body needs 30-60 minutes to absorb these vitamin D containing

oils, it is best to delay showering, bathing, or swimming in a chlorinated pool

for one hour after exposure.

The best fish oils are from " wild-caught cold-water fish, " i.e. anchovy,

arctic cod, herring, krill, mackerel, salmon, and sardine. Fish Oil & Vitamin

Dose: Take 2,000 - 3,000 mgs of fish oil per day, along with 20,000 — 30,000

IUs of vitamin A from halibut liver oil or other fish oil capsules (without

vitamin D).

4. Vitamin B Complex (balanced only), containing the following B Vitamins

(Note: Some supplements do not contain all of the following B Vitamins):

· 50 mg Vitamin B-1 (Thiamine)

· 50 mg Vitamin B-2 (Riboflavin)

· 50 mg Niacin (not niacinamide which is synthetic) — see Note.

· 50 Vitamin B-6 (Pyridoxine)

· 50 mcg Vitamin B-12

· 50 mcg Biotin

· 1 mg Folic Acid

· 50 mg D-Pantothenic Acid

· 50 mg Choline

· 50 mg Inositol

Note: If you cannot buy a Vitamin B Complex that contains niacin, you can

buy one that contains niacinamide, but you should also buy niacin separately

and take it in addition to the Vitamin B Complex tablet. Niacin causes

flushing, redness, and itchiness of the skin because it dilates blood vessels,

even

the tiniest capillaries, which releases radiation from the body.

Radiation from the sun and other sources accumulate and build up in the body

— remember all those terrible sunburns? Niacin also chelates out heavy

metals from of the body. Vitamin B Complex Dose: Take 50 mgs twice a day plus

50

mgs of niacin, if it is separate.

5. Vitamin C, containing rosehips, citrus bioflavonoids, hesperidin and

rutin. Take 4,000 mgs in divided doses (1,000 mgs 4 times per day). The best

combination of vitamin C to take is:

· 1,000 mgs from a Vitamin C supplement containing rosehips, citrus

bioflavonoids, hesperidin and rutin plus

· 3,000 mgs of sodium ascorbate.

Sodium ascorbate is a combination of powdered ascorbic acid crystals and

baking soda. Most ascorbic acid contains 1,000 to 1,200 mgs of vitamin C for

1/4

teaspoon. Mix equal amounts of ascorbic acid and baking soda, and then add

filtered water. If you get loose stools by taking 4,000 mgs per day you might

need to start with less and gradually increase it — only increase the amount

every 5 days. Vitamin C Dose: Take 4,000 mgs or more daily in divided doses.

6. Vitamin E (natural source only). Natural source vitamin E is indicated

by the small " d " in front of the different types of vitamin E, such as

d-alpha-tocopherol. The synthetic version begins with " dl " , i.e.

dl-alpha-tocopherol. Most vitamin E supplements are derived from soy, which

must not be taken.

Clear Base or dry formulas are more likely to be soy-free. Vitamin E Dose:

Take 200 IUs twice a day, or 400 IUs once a day (if you have been taking 800

IUs

a day you can continue on that amount.)

7. Minerals — The best way to obtain minerals is:

· By consuming a balanced diet as noted in the article " How to

Successfully Overcome Candida. "

· By taking calcium/magnesium supplements.

· By drinking good filtered water that contains plenty of minerals,

along with at least 1-1/2 teaspoons of ocean sea salt, which contains over 84

minerals, i.e. Celtic Sea Salt (Nature's Cargo in Canada), Himalayan, etc.

Electrolyte Drink: 1/4 teaspoon of ocean sea salt and the juice of 1/2 of a

freshly squeezed lemon added to 6 ounces of filtered water - drink 6 times a

day (drink 3 of those glasses with meals to aid digestion).

Mineral Dose: Take a minimum of 1-1/2 teaspoons of ocean sea salt per day

in addition to good filtered water that contains minerals.

8. Coconut Oil — Coconut oil is included as part of the diet, so it would

not be started later on like other antifungals, but it is listed here in order

to clarify the amount to take. Buy a good quality coconut oil that is

expeller pressed, and not refined, bleached or deodorized.

Start with one 1/2 to 1 teaspoon per day and gradually increase it every 4-5

days up to 5-6 tablespoons per day (taken in split doses). Note: 3 teaspoons =

1

tablespoon.

3. Eliminate yeast, mold and fungi

Elimination of yeast, mold and fungi in foods, drinks, and the environment

is important for most Candida sufferers in the initial stages of the program,

and it may be longer for sensitive individuals. Candida overgrowth can

greatly increase the chances of an immune reaction to all types and forms of

fungi.

 

This results in an allergic response to yeast, mold and fungi, including

mycotoxins. Many of our foods contain mycotoxins that are chemicals made by

fungi.

Mycotoxins are found in grains and other processed foods that have been

contaminated with fungi and mold, including processed meats. The most commonly

contaminated crops are peanuts, corn, and wheat. Often, other foods such as

barley, apples, sorghum and rye can also be contaminated. Antibiotics and

alcohol are also mycotoxins, and they must not be consumed.

Yeasty, moldy, and other fungi-type foods and drinks that must be eliminated

(foods that not allowed on the candida diet which are also in this category

are not listed):

· Canned or boxed foods of any kind.

· Most leftover foods that easily collect mold.

· Vinegar and vinegar containing foods like mayonnaise, pickles,

mustard and relish — see Note*

· Malt products or foods containing malt.

· Edible fungi, including all types of mushrooms and truffles.

· Processed and smoked meats: sausages, hot dogs, corned beef,

pastrami, smoked fish, ham, and bacon.

· Fruit juices (no fruits are allowed on the candida diet, except

lemons and limes): all packaged fruits and fruit juices may potentially contain

molds, including Real Lemon and other concentrated lemon or lime juices.

· Dried foods: seaweed.

· Pickled foods.

· Some vitamins and minerals, including most B vitamins, " unless

otherwise stated on the label that is does not contain yeast " .

*Note: Some candida sufferers may do okay consuming good apple cider vinegar

that is unpasteurized and unfiltered like Bragg's and Eden's. But be

cautious because most candida sufferers do not tolerate any kind of vinegar.

Environmental molds can also adversely affect Candida sufferers and the only

way to minimize exposure is to remove as much as possible from your home.

Molds are simple, microscopic organisms, like Candida Albicans, whose purpose

in the ecosystem is to break down dead materials, and they are everywhere.

Molds reproduce by very tiny particles called spores. Spores are very light

and can travel on air currents. They need moisture, food, and a surface to

grow on and can be seen throughout the house, mostly in bathrooms. Mold growth

can often be seen in the form of discoloration, and can appear in many

colours, i.e. white, orange, pink, blue, green, black or brown.

Keep rooms dry, warm and light. Molds are living organisms that will only

grow in cold, dark, damp places, so if you have a recurrent mold problem, bring

more light, heat, or fans into the area to move the air.

For major mold problems, put a portable electric heater in the room, and

turn it to the highest setting. Close the door and let it bake all-day or

overnight. The mold will dry up into a powder that brushes right off. For

concentrated areas, use a hand-held dryer to dry the mold in just a few

minutes.

This is not the most energy-efficient method, but it will definitely solve

the immediate problem. If you are sensitive to molds you should get someone

else to handle such problems in your home, or wear gloves, protective clothing

and a good facemask.

Let textiles dry before storing. Hang wet towels after bathing to let them

dry before throwing them in the hamper. Hang clothes so there is space between

them, and if you don't launder clothing that is damp with perspiration, at

least allow it to dry before putting it back in the closet.

It is important to determine why mold is growing. Investigate any areas that

are moist, and repair the source of the moisture. There could be a roof or

plumbing leak, or groundwater leaking into the basement. Air duct systems

could be contaminated with mold. Clothes dryers generate humidity and should

never be vented inside the house. Substances that are porous can trap molds and

if contaminated should be thrown out, i.e. ceiling tiles, drywall, carpeting,

paper, rags, and wood. They are nearly impossible to clean and will produce

more spores when dry.

After making repairs, it is time to clean. For those who are extremely

sensitive to molds it is advisable to call professionals in to rid their homes

of

molds. For those who can do their own cleaning, make your own mold and mildew

remover. Mix borax and water in a spray bottle (amounts to mix are indicated

on the borax box).

Spray it on and the mold wipes right off. Borax inhibits mold growth, so

wash down the walls in your bathroom with a borax solution and just leave it

on,

or sprinkle borax in damp cabinets under the sink. Do not use products that

contain formaldehyde, phenol, kerosene, pentachlorophenol. Note " DANGER "

warning on package label.

Wear gloves when handling moldy materials and also wear a

particulate-removing respirator or face mask. Also wear protective clothing

that is easily

cleaned or may be discarded.

4. Improve Digestion

Most people with candida have digestive problems, including stomach aches

and upsets, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), gas, bloating, diarrhea,

constipation, etc. While many candida programs recommend cleansing or cleanses

of the

bowels and other organs in the body, these treatments can be very harsh.

Liver, kidney and gallbladder cleanses dump too many toxins into the body at

one

time, which most candida sufferers are too sick to handle.

There have been cases of people with life threatening conditions caused by

such cleanses, requiring emergency room treatment. Also, liver and gall

bladder cleanses can release liver and galls stones into the bile ducts that

can

block and tear them, requiring emergency surgery.

All cleanses are a combination of herbs or ingredients which many candida

sufferers cannot handle, not only because it causes too many toxins to be

dumped into the system at one time, but also because the ingredients themselves

are often too strong, causing adverse reactions.

However, this candida diet contains high " good " saturated fats, which are

very important for liver and gall bladder health. Over time the diet will

normalize functioning of all organs, including the liver, gall bladder and

adrenals, and it may dissolve any stones that present.

The candida diet, supplements and other treatments recommended will do a

good job of increasing digestion, strengthening the walls of the intestines

(mostly with good saturated fats), increasing good motility of the intestines,

clearing out the liver, adrenals and gall bladder, increasing kidney function,

etc. and will affect any cleansing that the body sees necessary, and it will

even chelating out heavy metals such as mercury, lead and aluminum, etc.

Therefore such treatments are not recommended at any point during the

candida program, including liver, kidney, gall bladder or bowel cleanses,

except

for enemas — see the Enema articles

Fasting is also not recommended. Even though fasting is intended to give the

body a rest and/or to allow it to clear out toxins and wastes, while your

body is fasting it is also not getting the nutrients it needs for healing and

energy. It is more important to give the body what it needs to build up the

immune system and to affect healing, allowing it to cleanse itself as it sees

fit.

Between meals it is important that your body fast so it can assimilate and

utilize the nutrients without having to direct its energies towards digesting

more food. That is why snacking is not recommended.

Some people do a type of fasting where they only consume the raw egg drink

for a few days at a time. That is not considered " true fasting " and it

wouldn't cause problems because you would be getting plenty of nutrients and

energy.

 

To improve digestion the following initial steps are recommended:

1. Avoid raw vegetables until digestion has improved, except for

lacto-fermented vegetables, which are actually pre-digested.

2. Do not over cook meats, and under cook egg yolks, leaving them runny.

3. Use spices liberally when cooking, and add ocean sea salt to foods

after they are cooked.

4. Drink about 3-4 ounces of the electrolyte drink (lemon juice and ocean

sea salt in water) just before you begin to eat a meal, and sip the

remainder of the 6 ounces throughout the meal.

5. Chew foods thoroughly to stimulate digestive enzymes in the mouth, to

break up foods into the smallest particles as possible for better digestion.

6. Eat enough foods at each meal that contains a good balance of

proteins, good fats and vegetables.

7. Eat at least 2 complete meals per day, but not more than 3 meals.

8. Avoid snacking in between meals.

9. Eat at least 1 tablespoon of unheated sauerkraut or kimchi with each

meal.

10. Take digestive enzymes as needed.

If the chyme (mixture of food, water and enzymes) coming out the stomach

does not contain enough stomach acid, digestive enzymes and liquid it will not

sufficiently trigger digestive enzymes in the duodenum, which is the first

part of the small intestines. Some foods stimulate stomach acid production, but

sometimes it is necessary to also take digestive enzymes.

Foods that aid digestion:

· Protein

· " Good " fats such as coconut oil, butter, lard, naturally occurring

animal fats, etc.

· Ocean sea salt

· Lemon juice

· Gelatin-rich bone broths

· Lacto-fermented foods and drinks, i.e. cabbage rejuvelac,

sauerkraut, kimchi, etc.

· Spices, teas and herbs, i.e. chamomile, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg,

etc.

Test Stomach Acid Levels - To see whether you have enough stomach acid do

this test:

· Mix 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda in 8 ounces of cold water, and drink

it first thing in the morning before eating or drinking anything.

· Keep track of how much time it takes you to burp or belch.

· Time up to five minutes. If you have not belched within five minutes

stop timing.

If your stomach is producing adequate amounts of hydrochloric acid you

should belch within two to three minutes. Early and repeated belching is

consistent with excessive stomach acid. This is because belching is caused by

stomach

acid and baking soda reacting to form carbon dioxide gas. If you do not burp

or belch with 2 — 3 minutes it is advisable to take digestive enzymes.

Digestive Enzymes - The most beneficial digestive enzyme to take is Betaine

Hydrochloric Acid with Pepsin, except for individuals with peptic ulcers.

Capsules are taken in increasing doses with meals until symptoms of excess acid

are evident, at which time you would cut back on how many tablets taken.

If you get symptoms of too much stomach acid, which is mostly a burning

feeling, sip on this drink until symptoms subside: 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda

in

4 ounces of warm water.

This is what a typical digestive enzyme program would be:

Meal 1: Take 1 capsule (500-700 mg) at the beginning of your meal.

Meal 2: Take 2 capsules at the beginning of your meal.

Meal 3: Take 3 capsules at the beginning of your meal.

Meal 4: Take 4 capsules; two at the beginning of your meal and two in the

middle of your meal. And so on, up to 8 capsules per meal.

NOTE: When taking several capsules they will help you more if you take them

throughout the meal (beginning, middle and end). For individuals that are

daring and want more rapid results, you could increase the dose by two capsules

each meal instead of one.

If, irritation occurs (heartburn, stomach ache, heaviness, nausea), you can

take baking soda in water to neutralize the excess acidity (1/2 teaspoon of

baking soda in 4 ounces of warm water), but sip it only long enough to

alleviate the symptoms. At your next meal you would take 1-2 capsules less than

the

number that caused symptoms.

Sometimes small meals do not require as many capsules as required for a

larger meal. Remember that symptoms of high stomach acid are exactly the same

as

low stomach acid, i.e. heartburn, stomach ache, heaviness and nausea.

Is your gallbladder ready for fat? If you live in North America, chances

are you've experienced problems with your gall bladder at one time or another.

Typical gallbladder symptoms include: gas (especially burping after meals), a

full or heavy feeling after meals, bloating, " acid reflux " (after meals and

at night when lying down), pain in the right side radiating into the right

shoulder blade, and loose or light colored stools that float.

Two things the gallbladder doesn't like are bad fats and no fats. Bad fats,

like man-made processed vegetable oils, are difficult to digest and put a lot

of stress on the gallbladder. The gallbladder is a little sac that sits

alongside your liver. The liver produces bile, a substance made from

cholesterol

that emulsifies fat and makes it easier to digest.

The gallbladder stores and concentrates bile, and then secretes it into the

small intestines when fats and proteins are present. If you do not eat fat,

the gallbladder won't get any exercise and can begin to atrophy.

If you've eaten mostly man-made fats in your life or have spent many years

on a low-fat diet, chances are your gallbladder will need a little work before

you will be able to completely digest generous amounts of good fats in your

diet. Start by eating the recommended amount of proteins, fats and carbs and

by practicing good digestive (above).

Other helpful remedies include Swedish Bitters, 1 teaspoon in water taken

just after meals, and a minimum of 1 tablespoon of lacto-fermented sauerkraut

or kimchi with each meal. Ox bile is also helpful (take as directed on the

label).

All nature-made saturated fats, i.e. coconut oil, butter, lard, etc. are

very easy on the gall bladder because they do not require bile salts in order

to

be digested. If you are just beginning to add fats to your diet after many

years of low-fat foods, your best choice is to start with coconut oil or

Step 3) Kill off Candida overgrowth with antifungals

 

Antifungals (coconut oil and Pau D'Arco tea are considered part of the diet)

can be started when your " die-off " symptoms have diminished after being on

the diet. Some people need to stay on the diet 3-6 months before they can

tolerate antifungals.

You will know whether you are ready for a strong antifungal when you try it.

If your " die-off " symptoms are intolerable you should stop taking the

antifungal and stay on the diet longer.

Antifungals that kill off Candida overgrowth:

· Clove Oil.

· Coconut oil

· Garlic.

· Oil of Oregano.

· Pau D'Arco tea (mild antifungal)

· Nystatin, an antifungal medication.

A word of caution! Oil of Oregano and Pau D'Arco are not recommended during

pregnancy nor while breast feeding. All of the above antifungals, except Pau

D'Arco tea, are considered strong.

Foods that kill or inhibit the growth of candida

There are also many foods that inhibit the growth of, or kill, candida, i.e.

all of the cabbage and onion families - arugula, bok choy, broccoli, brussel

sprouts, cauliflower, collards, horseradish, hot peppers, kale, kohlrabi,

mustard greens, radishes, rutabaga, shallots, Swiss chard, turnips, turnip

greens, watercress, etc.

Note: You only need to take one strong antifungal at a time (garlic or oil

of oregano or clove), in addition to coconut oil and Pau D'Arco, and only take

the amounts recommended. " More is not better! " Taking more than one strong

antifungal, or taking too high of a dose, is not only a waste but it can also

overwhelm and confuse the body. The body needs to be allowed to utilize

treatments in its own way and time. Pushing the body too hard is not

recommended.

 

Resistance does not develop against naturally-occurring antifungals such as

coconut oil, garlic, oil of oregano, clove oil, and Pau D'Arco. Even nystatin

has not caused resistance to occur. Bee took nystatin powder for 2-1/2 years

and still cured her candida.

The reason drugs cause resistance is because viruses and bacteria, which are

created in the body, change into different forms in an effort to find one

that will get rid of toxic drugs. Viruses and bacteria are created to clean up

Drugs, other than Nystatin, i.e. Diflucan (Fluconazole), Nizoral,

Itraconazole, Ketoconazole, Miconazole, etc., are not recommended. They are all

very

hard on the liver, and can often cause irreparable damage. Natural substances

are much more effective, without the dangerous side effects of these drugs,

except for Nystatin. This is because Nystatin is not absorbed past the

intestines to any significant degree. Natural antifungals are at least equally

effective, if not better, than Nystatin.

There are many other antifungals available on the market today, but the

antifungals recommended have been researched the most and they have the most

information and reported success. If you are currently taking another type of

antifungal you can finish taking it, and then you can switch.

Clove Oil

The clove is an evergreen tree, called Eugenia arena, reaching a height of

15 to 30 feet tall. It is native to the Spice Islands and the Philippines but

also grown in India, Sumatra, Jamaica, the West Indies, Brazil, and other

tropical areas. The bark is pale yellowish grey in color and smooth.

It has opposite ovate (egg-shaped) leaves 3-6 inches long. Its flowers, are

red and white, bell-shaped, and grow in clusters. The flowers when gathered

are at first of a reddish color, but on drying they assume a deep brown cast.

The familiar clove used in the kitchen is the dried flower bud. Clove oil is

prepared by steam distillation.

Traditional uses in America include treating worms, viruses, candida, and

various bacterial and protozoan infections. Clove is also used for toothaches,

bad breath, dizziness, cough, earache, colitis, epilepsy, palsy, and

digestive upsets, as a sleep-inducer, anti-inflammatory, blood-thinner, mental

stimulant, etc.

Clove oil kills intestinal parasites and exhibits broad antimicrobial

properties against fungi (candida) and bacteria, supporting its traditional use

as

a treatment for diarrhea, intestinal worms, and other digestive ailments.

Clove may help relax the smooth muscle lining of the digestive tract. A few

drops of the clove oil in water will stop vomiting, and clove tea will relieve

diarrhea, gas, bloating, intestinal spasms and nausea.

Athletics foot, nail fungus, & skin problems: Clove oil is just as effective

as oil of oregano in treating these conditions. It can be applied directly

to the skin or nails several times a day. If the skin is sensitive or broken

clove oil can be diluted with extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil.

One drop of clove oil applied to the roof of the mouth can instantly relieve

many headaches. Long used in aromatherapy to relieve pain, it is also

uplifting oil with a delightful scent. For general pain relief, add 3 drops of

clove oil to 1 teaspoon of coconut oil or extra virgin olive oil. It can also

be

used topically to relieve general aches and pains.

Clove Dosage:

· Clove Tea: Use 1 teaspoon of ground cloves, or ground up whole

cloves (a coffee grinder works best) per cup of boiling water. Boil the water

first, and then set it off of the heat. Add 1 teaspoon of ground cloves Steep

to 20 minutes. Drink 4 cups a day. Only organic or certified organic herbs

and spices should be used since all commercial sources are irradiated (zapped

with radiation).

· Clove Oil: 1 drop of 100% clove oil 3 times per day, increased

gradually up to 3 drops 3 times per day. NOW brand is excellent. Ask your

health

food store to order it if they do not have it in stock.

Coconut Oil

Coconut Oil is taken as part of the diet, but it is listed here to emphasize

it's effectiveness as an antifungal, and to list it's other health benefits.

Coconut oil is rich in lauric acid, a proven antiviral, antibacterial, and

antifungal agent. Here are some other very interesting facts about Coconut

Oil:

1. It reduces our need for Vitamin E.

2. It is an antioxidant and fights " free-radicals " (toxins).

3. It can be used on the skin to restore and repair it, and to moisturize

it.

4. It can be used as a hair conditioner. It softens the hair, conditions

the scalp and controls dandruff or cradle cap (caused by candida).

5. Antiseptic fatty acids in coconut oil help to prevent fungal and

bacterial infections in the skin when it is consumed, and to some extent when

applied to the skin.

6. The biggest chemical barrier to infectious organisms is the acid layer

on the skin. This is why sweat and the oil produced on our skin are good for

us. Taking fewer showers and baths is advisable because it allows the skin

to build up natural oil, which is a good acidic protective barrier, and also

helps the skin make vitamin D when exposed to the sun.

Soap washes off the protective layer of oil and acid on our skin. After a

shower or bath apply coconut oil to the entire body to quickly re-establish the

skin's natural antimicrobial and acid barrier.

Start with one teaspoonful and gradually increase it every 5-7 days up to 5-6

tablespoons per day (taken in divided doses during the day). Coconut is part

of the diet, so it is not started later on like other antifungals.

Garlic

Garlic contains a large number of sulphur containing compounds that exhibit

very potent broad-spectrum antifungal properties. Among the most studied are

allicin, alliin, alliinase and S-allylcysteine. Some studies have found

garlic to be just as potent as nystatin (drug) at killing Candida overgrowth.

It

also enhances the immune system.

In one study it was found that candida is sensitive to garlic; resistance to

the broad spectrum of active principles present is unlikely so that its

anti-candida effects may provide an important alternative route to drugs.

Some of the most traditional uses of garlic have been for colds, flu and

other infections, such as earaches, vaginal yeast infections, and high blood

pressure. Modern research has focused on four main areas: heart disease,

cancer,

infectious disease, and antioxidant effects. The effects of garlic on

cardiovascular health have been studied for more than 30 years with good

results.

Garlic is a natural antibiotic, but unlike manufactured antibiotics that

kill all bacteria, garlic only destroys the unfriendly bacteria, and at the

same

time assists the development of the friendly bacteria present in the

digestive system. It contains the volatile oil, allium, which converts to

allicin

when crushed.

Fresh garlic is significantly more potent against Candida Albicans than any

other form, including tablets, oils and pills. Fresh garlic is also a

suitable alternative to drugs for serious systemic yeast infections in patients

with

severe immune suppression. Adding fresh garlic to food (raw and crushed), or

crushing and swallowing raw cloves is a cheap and powerful antifungal

treatment.

Garlic also stimulates the immune system, improves circulation, lowers high

blood pressure, kills intestinal parasites, and is a powerful antioxidant and

antibiotic, in addition to many other health benefits.

To obtain the most benefit from garlic buy " certified organic " garlic and

crush it with the flat of a broad knife, or put it through a garlic press.

Crushing breaks the cell walls releasing and mixing garlic's beneficial

properties. Exposed to air, allicin converts to diallydisulphide, which is a

powerful

bactericide and fungicide (also effective against many viruses). In addition,

garlic contains vitamins A, B and C.

Raw Garlic Dose: To kill off Candida overgrowth start with 1 average sized

raw clove per day in order to minimize " die-off " symptoms, and gradually

increase it to 4 or 5 cloves per day, mixed in foods or taken with meals.

Garlic

can also be taken as tea, and garlic tea can be used in douches or enemas.

Garlic Tea (drink 4 cups per day, starting with 1 cup and gradually

increasing it)

Boil 4 cups of water and remove

· it from the heat (make 1 cup by dividing the recipe).

· Add 4 to 5 medium to large crushed cloves of garlic and the juice of

one lemon (freshly squeezed).

· Let it steep 20 minutes and strain. It can be drunk hot or cold. If

the taste is unpalatable it may be mixed with a vegetable juice like tomato.

It can be re-heated, but do not bring it to a boil.

· Drink a minimum of 4 cups a day, but again start with less and

gradually increase the amount.

To minimize " garlic breath " chew on fresh parsley, fennel seeds or whole

cloves. If you do not want to take raw garlic, the best alternative is Kyolic

brand garlic capsules. Start with 1 capsule taken in the middle of meals, three

times daily, and gradually increase it to 3 capsules 3 times a day.

Oil of Oregano

Caution! Oil of Oregano is not recommended during pregnancy nor while breast

feeding.

Oil of oregano is a very versatile herb that provides many other benefits

other than as an antifungal. As an antifungal it is extremely effective, just

like raw crushed garlic or clove oil. The key element in oregano is the oil,

which Foster points out in his book " In Herbal Renaissance " " contains

carvacrol and thymol as the primary components. " Foster attributes the

" fungicidal

and worm-expellant properties " of oil of oregano to carvacrol and thymol.

" These two phenols may constitute as much as 90% (of the oil). " Cass Ingram,

D.O., writes in his book " The Cure is in the Cupboard " " these two phenols

work " synergistically " and that is the reason " oil of oregano " packs a double

punch in antiseptic powder and explains why it is infinitely more potent than

commercial phenol in microbial killing power. "

All of this helps make oil of oregano a significant factor in treating

internal and external fungi, including dandruff, cradle cap, nail fungus and

athlete's foot. Skin conditions such as rosacea, psoriasis and eczema can be

improved with the treatment as well. Ingram explains the astonishing discovery

that " oil of oregano outright destroys all variety of fungi and yeasts,

regardless of where they reside. "

Oregano oil is also a significant immune-booster. The benefits of oregano

have gone largely unnoticed and under-publicized for far too long. As Ingram

notes, oregano is " one of the world's finest natural medicines, if it's true

oregano. "

Oil of oregano is a completely natural substance derived from wild oregano

Oil of Oregano is a potent antiseptic used both topically and internally.

Research demonstrates that it is effective in killing a range of organisms,

especially yeast and bacteria. Oil of oregano at relatively low doses was found

to be effective against Staphylococcus bacteria and was comparable in its

germ-killing properties to antibiotic drugs such as streptomycin, penicillin

and

Researchers at the Department of Food Science at the University of Tennessee

reported that, among various plant oils, oil of oregano exhibited the

greatest antibacterial action against common pathogenic germs such as Staph, E.

researchers reported oregano oil had antibacterial activity against 25

different

The growing problem of antibiotic resistance has health authorities

extremely concerned. It is already the case that various germs are showing

to vancomycin (strong antibiotic), particularly to intestinal bacteria

Oil of oregano is not to be confused with common oregano in the kitchen

spice cupboard, which is usually Oregano marjoram rather than true oregano

(Oregano vulgare).

Oil of Oregano Dose: Oregano oil is strong if placed directly in the mouth,

but you can dilute it with coconut or extra virgin olive oil - put 1 or more

drops in 1 teaspoon of oil. You can also put oregano oil in gelatin capsules

(buy No. '0' gelatin capsules at the drug store). Start with 1 drop three

times a day, and increase it slowly to 3 drops 3 times daily. It can be taken

on an empty stomach or with foods.

Oregano oil, even those containing 75% carvacrol, does not irritate the skin

if there is no rash and the skin is not broken. In that case mix drops into

1 teaspoon or more of coconut oil or extra virgin olive oil before applying

it. Full strength it can be used to treat nail fungus.

Pau D'Arco

Caution! Pau D'Arco is not recommended during pregnancy nor while breast

feeding.

Pau D'Arco is the bark of a rain forest tree which is inherently anti-fungal

(also known as Taheebo or Lepacho). It is a much milder form of antifungal

than garlic, oil of oregano, clove oil or coconut oil therefore it can be

started at the beginning, along with the Candida diet. Because it is powerful

antioxidant it helps alleviate die-off symptoms. It can be consumed along with

other antifungals.

Pau D'Arco Dose: Pau D'Arco is best taken as a tea. Pau D'Arco tea bags are

available; follow the directions on the package. The best quality Pau D'Arco

is the pure loose bark, but it very difficult to find. When using loose bark

follow this recipe:

How to make Pau D'Arco Tea using loose bark:

· Put 1 heaping tablespoon of tea in a sauce pan and add 1 quart of

water.

· Simmer on the lowest heat possible for at least half an hour.

· Allow the liquid to cool. Strain and pour into a glass jar with a

tight sealing lid.

· Keep it in the fridge and sip the cooled tea. It may be reheated if

you prefer to drink it warm but do not boil it. It keeps for two days.

· Drink 4 cups or more per day.

Nystatin

Nystatin is a broad spectrum fungicidal (kills fungus) drug available only

by prescription in some countries. It is fast-acting and well tolerated,

killing candida on contact. It is not absorbed past the intestines to any

significant degree, therefore it a very safe drug, compared to the others which

cause

severe liver problems. Nystatin is virtually free of side effects or drug

interactions, and does not cause resistance.

Nystatin can only be obtained by prescription in most countries. It is

available as a cream or powder for topical use, suspension (liquid), and

tablets,

but powder is the purest form and it can be used both externally and

internally. However, there is a powdered form of nystatin that is not intended

for

internal use so please ensure the pharmacist knows what he is dispensing. There

is a powder for external use only which also contains talcum powder.

The suspension form is usually prescribed in amounts of 2 ml 2-4 times per

day for infants and children. The tablets are prescribed in the amount of 2-3

tablets 2-4 times per day for older children and adults. Be sure it does not

contain sugar!

Powdered Nystatin is preferable since it is more easily tolerated than the

tablet form and as it is swallowed it kills Candida in the mouth, throat and

esophagus. However, some people cannot tolerate the bad taste and have to

resort to taking the tablets. Be sure to buy tablets that do not contain sugar!

Nystatin Dose: Nystatin powder is taken orally four times a day. Start with

1/8th teaspoon of dry powder added to 4 ounces of water. Stir well. This

mixture must be used immediately after mixing. Do not mix and store it for

later

use. Take one mouthful and swish it around in your mouth for as long as

possible, gargle, and swallow. Be sure to use all the liquid to get the full

dose

of medicine.

Gradually increase the amount of Nystatin over a month's period of time or

more, up to a maximum of one teaspoon four times a day. Nystatin may have to

be taken for months and sometimes years, along with the diet. Even if symptoms

disappear completely continue taking Nystatin until the full prescribed

amount is finished. Stopping it too early may allow the Candida to get the

upper

hand again.

Keep Nystatin powder refrigerated, free of moisture, and away from heat and

light. Nystatin may be stored for 90 days after opening, but any unused

Nystatin powder can kill Candida in many different ways:

· Sniffing or inhaling Nystatin for nasal passages and sinuses. Many

Candida sufferers can clear nasal congestion, postnasal drip and mental and

nervous symptoms by inhaling or sniffing Nystatin. Here's how to do it: Shake

your bottle of Nystatin powder vigorously. Remove the cap and hold the bottle

just under your nose. Sniff or inhale very cautiously. Another method is to

hold one nostril and put a dot of Nystatin powder on your index finger and

sniff gently. Repeat for the other nostril. The number of sniffs or inhales can

be gradually increased to 3 or 4 in a row up to three times a day or more,

depending upon how well it is tolerated.

· Mouth (thrush) - mix 1/4 teaspoon of Nystatin powder in 1-2 ounces

of water. Hold it in the mouth up to 2 minutes, swishing it around and then

swallow.

· Athlete's foot, nail fungus, diaper rash, dry skin spots or rashes -

For athlete's foot the powder can be dusted on the feet, and inside shoes

and socks. For diaper rash the powder can also be dusted, carefully, onto the

affected areas. To make a cream that can be rubbed into affected areas mix one

teaspoon of Nystatin powder into two teaspoons of a very mild cold cream or

a coconut based cream. Apply two times a day or more.

· Rectal and vaginal suppository - fill gelatin capsules (available

at health food stores) with Nystatin powder. Push one capsule high up into the

rectum at bedtime. For vaginal yeast infection use one or two capsules at

bedtime.

· Vaginal douche - mix one teaspoon in one quart of water and douche

once or twice a week, and alternate with a powdered acidophilus douche (one

teaspoon to one quart of water) the same number of times a week.

· Enema - The benefits of a Nystatin enema cannot be overemphasized.

Many people have experienced tremendous relief of their symptoms and renewed

energy levels after having an enema. The main purpose a Nystatin enema is to

kill Candida in the lower bowel because it is not easily reached by antifungal

agents.

Nystatin enemas should be alternated with probiotic enemas, and enemas

should never be done more than once every 4-5 days to allow the bowel to return

to

normal. The large bowel is responsible for balancing water and electrolytes

in the body, and it makes some B vitamins and vitamin K, along with other

important functions. For instructions on how to administer an enema see the

Section " Antifungal, Probiotic and Coffee Enemas " later on in this article.

 

Step 4) Plant good bacteria in the digestive tract

 

When your " die-off " symptoms have started to subside after taking

antifungals for awhile, you can start taking probiotics. At this point you are

doing

all 4 Steps at one time, i.e. Diet (Steps 1 & 2), Step 3 Antifungals, and Step

4 Probiotics. You continue doing all 4 Steps until you have completely cured

your candida.

Probiotics are the 'friendly' or 'beneficial' bacteria/micro-organisms that

normally live in the digestive tract. As yeast colonies are reduced, space

becomes available for colonizing these healthy bacteria. Lactobacteria make up

95% of the beneficial bacteria found in the small intestines, so it is most

important to colonize it, rather than other friendly bacteria.

When you start on probiotics you will find these friendly bacteria can cause

gas and bloating. This is a die-off response to the friendly bacteria.

Friendly bacteria literally eat candida, which in turn release gases (carbon

dioxide).

This is why probiotics are added to the program after antifungals. This

allows enough time for the diet and antifungals to reduce intestinal yeast so

that gas and bloating will not be so extreme. Anyone who experiences tremendous

gas and bloating after starting on probiotics has excessive intestinal

candida, and they should continue taking antifungals awhile longer before

adding

probiotics.

Cabbage Rejuvelac — the best probiotic!

The easiest and least expensive way to plant healthy bacteria in the

digestive tract is to take cabbage rejuvelac. Cabbage is a vegetable that is

teeming

with several healthy strains of lactobacteria, including lactobacillus.

Cabbage Rejuvelac Recipe

No starter is needed for making this recipe.

Ingredients: 3 cups of cabbage and 1-3/4 cups of water

1. Use distilled water or prepare tap water; tap water contains chlorine

which will interfere with the production of bacteria. Boil tap water for 30

minutes, uncovered, to remove chlorine, or leave out uncovered jars containing

tap water for 24 hours so the chlorine will dissipate out of the water.

2. Start by blending together 1-3/4 cups of distilled or purified water

plus 3 cups of coarsely chopped, loosely packed fresh cabbage.

3. Start the blender at a low speed and then advance the blender to high

speed for 15 seconds or less. Do blend it too much. If the cabbage is too

fine it will create a strong tasting rejuvelac.

4. Pour the mixture into a wide-mouthed jar which allows 1 inch of space

above the mixture.

5. Cover it tightly, and let stand it at room temperature for 3 days.

6. After 3 days strain off the liquid rejuvelac, saving 1/4 cup for the

next batch. The first batch of cabbage rejuvelac takes 3 days to mature, but

succeeding batches only take one day (24 hours).

Each morning:

a. Strain off the fresh rejuvelac liquid, but set aside 1/4 cup for the

next batch. You will be drinking the rejuvelac liquid. You can discard the

cabbage or use it to make kimchi

b. Blend together 1-1/2 cups (Note: this is 1/4 cup less than the first

batch) of distilled or purified water plus 3 cups of coarsely ground, loosely

packed fresh cabbage, and blend as in #2 above.

c. Pour the mixture into a wide-mouthed jar which allows 1 inch of space

above the mixture, and add 1/4 cup of the fresh rejuvelac just strained off.

d. Cover it tightly, shake well to mix the fresh rejuvelac into the

mixture, and let it stand at room temperature until the next morning and repeat

from Step a.

Cabbage rejuvelac can also be made without using a blender. Finely chop

2-1/2 cups of cabbage, instead of 1-3/4 cups, but use the same amount of water.

Good quality rejuvelac tastes similar to a cross between carbonated water

and the whey obtained when making yogurt. Bad quality rejuvelac has a much more

putrid odor and taste and should not be consumed.

Refrigerate rejuvelac if it is to be kept overnight. Discard any rejuvelac

on hand 24 hours after it is poured off the cabbage.

Taking Rejuvelac - Drink each day's rejuvelac liquid during the course of

the day by taking 1/2 cup three times per day, preferably with meals.

Probiotic supplements

Probiotic supplements are also good for planting good bacteria in the

digestive tract. Since 95% of beneficial organisms in the digestive tract are

lactobacteria, the simplest form of lactobacillus is recommended. Freeze-dried

acidophilus lactobacillus is the most common form available:

· Buy acidophilus-lactobacillus that is not based on dairy.

· It should be free of: soy, wheat, dairy, sugar, yeast, gluten, and

artificial coloring or preservatives.

· It should be in dark bottles or opaque containers to avoid

deterioration by heat and light, and kept refrigerated, even at the store.

· It is best to get powdered probiotics so you can measure out the

correct amount of units. If you buy capsules you may need to dump them out in

order to get the right dose.*

*Note: Dose is a maximum of 10 billion units per day, taken in divided

doses.

There are numerous probiotic and prebiotic products available, with many

companies making wild claims about their products in an effort to increase

sales. These companies are using " marketing " ploys in order to distinguish

their

products from others on the market, for example:

· Enteric Coated - A number of companies are selling " enteric coated "

capsules and claim that they survive high acids in the stomach. First of

all, the stomach also has mucus membranes, which can have candida overgrowth,

and it also contains lactobacteria. Therefore the stomach also needs

probiotics. Secondly, since lactobacillus is a normal inhabitant of the

stomach, how

can stomach acids possibly kill it? When I was curing my candida 20 years ago I

took powdered probiotics.

· Quick Fix - Take this product and you do not have to follow a

candida diet! The company that makes ThreeLac makes just such a wild claim.

Many

candida sufferers can attest to the fact that this totally untrue. Here are

four very good reasons not to take ThreeLac:

o They claim you can take ThreeLac without doing the diet, which is

totally false and misleading. This promises a " quick fix " just like the medicos

and drug companies do, which has been the major cause of candida in the first

place. It also gives people totally false hopes. For that reason alone it is

not recommend it, but there are other reasons.

o It is expensive, probably because it is very highly marketed.

o It is processed and contains several ingredients, making it a complex

product, so a person would not know what they are reacting to if they

experience adverse affects from it.

o One of ThreeLac's questionable ingredients is refined yeast powder.

· Primal Defense and Fungal Defense produced by The Garden of Life.

They are not only extremely expensive, when there are so many other viable and

less expensive products available, but they are also complex products,

containing many ingredients that may cause adverse reactions in some people.

· FOS and Inulin are sugars that are added to probiotics in order to

distinguish products for marketing purposes. Manufacturers claim that Inulin

and FOS specifically feed only good bacteria. The reality of the situation is

much different. If you examine the scientific literature about Inulin and

FOS you will find that is not true.

The best example is concerning Klebsiella bacterium. Recent studies have

shown that Inulin and FOS encourages the growth of Klebsiella, a bacterium that

increases intestinal permeability. It is also questionable that Inulin and

FOS promote the growth of lactobacillus bacteria, but at the same time it would

also promote the growth of candida and other potentially harmful bacteria.

· When I was curing my candida 20 years ago, probiotics were measured

in millions, not billions. But now it seems there are very few products

measured in millions.

Probiotic Dosages — Start with 1 billion units 3 times a day (or less),

with or without food, and gradually increase it to a total of 10 billion units

per day in split doses. It will not hurt you to take more, but taking

excessive amounts is a waste of money and it will not speed up the process of

implantation.

Yogurt & Kefir

Yogurt and kefir would ordinarily be a good sources of probiotics, however

many candida sufferers cannot tolerant them, for a number of reasons. It has

been found that candida sufferers are also intolerant of homemade yogurt and

kefir, where most of the lactose (sugar) content is removed by longer

fermentation times. Please note that the higher the butterfat content in dairy

the

lower the lactose content (butter contains the least amount of lactose).

The problem for candida sufferers is caused by more than just lactose

content. It is because candida sufferers have inadequate digestion, making it

is

difficult for them to break down nutrients in all foods, but dairy products,

other than butter, are particularly difficult to digest. This is mainly caused

by pasteurization and homogenization which damages dairy products. It is more

evident in dairy products, other than butter, even in homemade kefir and

yogurt.

Pasteurization destroys all valuable enzymes, including lactase for the

assimilation of lactose; galactase for the assimilation of galactose;

phosphatase

for the assimilation of calcium. Literally dozens of other precious enzymes

are destroyed in the pasteurization process. Without them, dairy is very

difficult to digest, which puts undue stress on the human pancreas.

However the pancreas is not always able to produce these enzymes;

over-stress of the pancreas can lead to diabetes and other diseases, in

addition to

interfering with the digestion of other foods. Sally Fallon of the Weston A.

Price Foundation states that: " Pasteurization destroys enzymes, diminishes

vitamin content, denatures fragile milk proteins, destroys vitamin B12 and

vitamin

B6, kills beneficial bacteria, and promotes pathogens. "

Milk proteins like casein also make dairy very difficult to digest. While

most candida sufferers can have butter without any problems, others can only

tolerate ghee (clarified butter) which does not contain these proteins. For

Commercially made yogurt and kefir is high in lactose content because they

are made from low fat milk products, in addition to being made from

pasteurized and/or homogenized milk. Even though some of the problems

associated with

processed dairy may be eliminated by using raw dairy it still doesn't seem to

Even when yogurt and kefir are homemade from raw dairy and fermented long

enough to lower the lactose, it still causes problems for candida because

lactose is changed into another sugar called galactose during the fermentation

process, and it also contains casein.

It has been found that candida sufferers who hang on to their dairy

products, other than butter, continue to have problems until they entirely

eliminate

them. Later on some candida sufferers may be able to tolerate small amounts

of homemade yogurt and kefir, but they should still proceed with caution until

they have cured their candida.

 

Antifungal, probiotic and coffee enemas

 

The benefits of a coffee, nystatin or probiotic enema cannot be

overemphasized. Many people have experienced tremendous relief of their

symptoms and

renewed energy levels after taking enemas. The reasons for doing enemas are:

The healing crisis, " die-off " symptoms, handling symptoms & other tips

 

 

 

The Healing Crisis

 

is an acute reaction that is the result of the activity of nature's healing

forces in overcoming chronic disease conditions. It is brought about when the

body becomes overcrowded by wastes and toxins. Cells and tissues begin to

throw off the waste and carry it from the bloodstream to various eliminating

organs including the bowels, kidneys, lungs, skin, nasal passages, ears,

throat, and genital organs.

These organs, in turn, become congested and irritated, producing symptoms

such as colds, boils, skin problems (rash, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, etc.),

kidney and bladder infections, headaches, ear or eye infection, diarrhea

and/or constipation, and fever, to name a few.

That is the healing crisis, which is a form of healing and elimination.

First the toxins are removed and then the tissues are renewed. These symptoms

and

the process of elimination are part of the cure and should not be

suppressed. Although a healing and disease crisis may look alike they are very

different.

A disease crisis is when the body is loaded to the toleration point with

wastes and toxins. The body arouses itself in self-defense and brings on an

acute inflammation such as a cold, fever, etc. If the wastes and toxins are not

eliminated the body adapts itself to function at a lower energy level. However

these wastes and toxins accumulate and inhibit the organs from performing

their normal functions until a chronic disease occurs.

On the other hand a healing crisis develops because the healing forces are

strengthening. By changing the diet to a highly nutritious one, and by

eliminating as many sources of damaging substances as possible, i.e. sugar,

soy,

grains, chemicals, mycotoxins, preservatives, molds, etc. the body gets

stronger, digging into the tissues and eliminating old chronic waste and

toxins.

Skin problems occur because of toxic elimination through the skin, but also

because the body externalizes healing to the skin to protect vital inner

organs.

The most important aspect of the healing crisis is to never go to extremes

when making changes to your diet or life style. It is important to gradually

introduce changes one at a time, allowing the body to adapt to the changes and

adjust itself.

Trying to change too many things at once can be counter-productive,

discouraging and postpone the goal of overall superior health. Make changes one

step

at a time. As you make positive changes to your diet or life style and as

each one becomes well-integrated into your daily routine, they will replace old

" bad " habits with new " good " habits resulting in a healthier happier

existence with your body. This also allows your body to do its job better,

which is

Hering's Law of Cures

 

These natural laws can be very comforting when it appears as if your

symptoms are too severe or are lasting too long.

1. Symptoms of a chronic disease disappear in definite order, going in

reverse through every illness, symptom, disease, ache, pain or injury. This

called " re-tracing. " During " re-tracing " you will not experience the " actual "

disease, injury or illness. It will be a much milder form that is more like a

" copy " of it.

2. It takes about one month of natural healing for every year the

symptoms have been present.

3. Healing progresses from the more vital organs to the less vital

organs; from inside of the body towards the skin and from the top of the body

down.

 

 

Die-off symptoms and how to handle them

 

When you change your diet, particularly when you eliminate foods that feed

candida, candida starts to die off. The reactions and symptoms you will

experience as a result are called " die-off " symptoms. When the numbers of

candida

begin to depopulate you will feel the effects, which causes many symptoms and

reactions.

Withdrawal Symptoms are some of the reactions you will experience. That is

when your cravings for sugar, carbohydrates, alcohol, grain products, etc.

will increase. At times it may make you feel as if you are starving, when you

actually aren't.

Cleansing Reactions - " Die-off " symptoms include cleansing reactions, which

produces " flu-like " symptoms. This is because the body is trying to deal

with the large numbers of toxins being released by the dead candida. This will

results in excessive mucus being produced in the sinuses, nose, throat and

lungs.

These flu-like symptoms will also include and upset stomach, gas, bloating,

belching, muscle and joint aches and pains, clumsiness, headaches, " brain

fog, " etc. Often you may feel like you have been drugged, with symptoms similar

to a bad hangover. This is because most candida toxins are alcohol, which

would cause hangover-type symptoms.

" Die-off " symptoms are also called the Herxheimer reaction, which is caused

by the rapid killing of candida and other harmful pathogens, with large

quantities of yeast toxins, cell particles, and antigens being released into

the

bloodstream and the entire body.

Healing Reactions — In addition to withdrawal symptoms and cleansing

reactions you will experience symptoms that are clearly healing reactions. The

severity and/or number of healing reactions you experience depends upon how

often

your body has been exposed to toxins and/or traumatized during your lifetime

with injuries, disease, or illnesses, and how much detoxifying and healing

the body can accomplish at one time.

To help you " endure " this onslaught and continue with your program, keep in

mind that any reactions means you are succeeding in ridding your body of toxi

c minerals, chemicals, bacteria, viruses, and parasites, and that " healing "

is taking place. Every drugless healing practitioner is well aware of the

healing reaction phenomenon.

The Cancer Clinics in Mexico explain to their patients that without a

healing reaction within the first two weeks of the program they must be

re-evaluated for what could be causing the delay. (This could be from ingesting

things

that counteract the program or from using personal care items such as lotions,

cosmetics, hair care items, etc. that interfere with the program, or not

taking the prescribed amount of coffee enemas.) When a patient experiences a

healing reaction all of the staff rejoices with the patient.

Increased Symptoms - When high numbers of candida are being killed off, any

symptoms experienced while candida was out of control may intensify. This is

different person to person, depending upon areas of their body that were

most affected by candida overgrowth. Women who have had vaginal yeast infection

will find these symptoms will become more intense and they may change as

well.

If someone has experienced a lot of digestive problems, their digestive

upsets and disturbances will increase. If someone had a lot of head-related

symptoms, their symptoms will become worse. And so on.

Symptoms will get worse before they get better. Eventually your good days

will increase and your bad days will decrease. Natural healing takes time,

patience and persistence on your healing program.

 

Healing Reactions are Not Allergic Reactions

 

An allergy is defined as: " A condition in which the body has an exaggerated

response to a substance introduced by inhalation, ingestion, injection, or

skin contact, often manifested by itchy eyes, runny nose, wheezing, skin rash,

hives, diarrhea, gas, bloating, headaches, aching muscles, joint pain, and

many others. Please note that these reactions are exactly the same symptoms as

healing reactions.

These reactions are created by the immune system, as a healing response,

indicating that it is working very hard to eliminate and/or minimize the

effects

of toxic overloads on the body, or the ingestion of a poison. Candida

overgrowth itself contributes over 79 different types of toxins, most of which

are

alcohol.

Handling this overload is like trying to handle a hangover every single day

of your life until you get rid of the candida overgrowth. There are many

other toxic sources in our environment and foods as well, which add to the

toxic

overload on the body. Some substances aren't merely toxic; they are

poisonous, which causes direct debilitating damage.

It is widely published that allergies are caused by a depressed immune

system. At the same time allergic responses and symptoms means the immune

system

is working extremely hard. When the immune system isn't working up to par, it

results in a total breakdown, so that bacteria, viruses or diseases, such as

cancer, are allowed to take over. However, a healthy immune system is

designed to destroy bacteria, viruses, cancer cells, etc.

Many people mistakenly assume they are allergic to many healthy foods,

herbs, spices, etc. because of allergy tests or body reactions, which doctors

also

label as allergic. Please note that almost all allergy tests are inaccurate

and they should not be relied upon to determine your allergies. Some

allergies are obvious, because they are caused by toxic substances, i.e. room

deodorizers, smoke, chemicals - in the air, body care products, cleaning

products,

etc.), smog, chemtrails, pesticides, etc.

But allergies to animal dander, dust mites, dust, mold, pollen, etc. are

less obvious. However, not everyone reacts negatively to these substances,

which

obviously points to a depressed immune system in those that do.

It is a fact that the body can, and will, react to good unadulterated foods

with " allergic-like†symptoms, which is exactly the same way it reacts to

toxins or poisons. However, reactions to good foods are not allergic reactions,

they are healing reactions. When the body receives the nutrients it needs to

heal, it goes into high gear, doing its job of healing, which creates healing

symptoms.

The long list of healing symptoms are exactly the same as the long list of

allergic reactions, i.e. increased mucus in all mucus membranes (nose,

sinuses, throat, lungs, intestines, stomach, etc.), headaches, stomach upset,

gas,

bloating, difficulty breathing, inflammation, heart palpitations, swelling,

rashes, hives, diarrhea, constipation, fever, etc.

In fact hives are a healing reaction too. It is caused by the immune system

releasing histamines and other chemicals into the bloodstream to handle

toxins or to affect healing. Histamines causes hives, rashes, itching,

swelling,

and other related symptoms. Although hives may be uncomfortable, they are

generally quite harmless and disappear on their own.

Therefore, do not be alarmed if you get healing reactions from good foods

like eggs, coconut oil, butter, and other good healing foods. If you get

reactions that are alarming or intolerable just cut back on the amount and

gradually increase it.

Treatment for severe die-off and healing symptoms, and digestive problems -

try this mild treatment. While doing this treatment do not take any

supplements, antifungals, or probiotics. Your die-off symptoms will be much

less after

this treatment.

Note: Every day of this treatment take two enemas each day of clear, room

temperature warm purified water only. These help to physically remove a

substantial amount of yeast present in the large colon.

Day One - Consume plenty of clear, salted meat and vegetable broth (salted

with an ocean sea salt like Celtic). Do not eat any no solid foods.

Day Two - Add solid purred foods; they should be only protein, fats and low

carbohydrate vegetables - cook and highly puree all foods in a blender to

maximize absorption, thus minimizing the food residue in the intestines.

Day Three - Eight — Eat cooked pureed foods as described in Day Two above,

and gradually add more and more solid foods each day over the next five days

until you are completely back on a solid food diet.

Day Nine - Start adding any supplements, antifungals and probiotics you were

taking prior to this treatment.

 

Die-off symptoms can also be alleviated by the following:

 

· Vitamin C - take 4,000 mgs when the symptoms first start to appear,

and take 1,000 mgs every hour until the symptoms subside or bowel tolerance

is reached, i.e. loose stools or diarrhea. When you reach bowel tolerance take

less vitamin C each hour until you reach bowel tolerance again, and so on.

Vitamin C helps the body detoxify since it is a powerful antioxidant.

· Ensure you are taking enough calcium/magnesium according to the

Essential Supplements list above. It helps minimize aches and pains.

· Take baths with Epsom salts, salt or 35% food grade hydrogen

peroxide. Baths help draw toxins out through the skin which helps minimize

symptoms.

Add two cups, or 500 grams, of Epsom salts or one cup of salt to the bath

(you can also mix Epsom salts and salts half and half). Soak for 15-20 minutes.

Use 1/2 cup of 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide in 1/2 a bathtub of very

warm water. Soak in the tub until you sweat.

· Drink 4 cups of Pau D'Arco tea per day. It is a powerful antioxidant

and it will help your body detoxify.

· Clove tea or clove oil. Cloves are an excellent powerful antioxidant

which makes it a great detoxifier, and it also contains a natural antibiotic

and it is antifungal. Only buy spices that are organic or certified organic

at the health store because commercial spices are all irradiated.

Clove Tea:

· Boil 4-1/2 cups of water.

· Take it off the heat

· Add two level teaspoons of ground cloves.

· Let it steep for 20 minutes. Strain well, and drink 4 1/2 cups hot

or cold every day, or when needed.

Whole cloves are more effective — put them in a heavy plastic bag and

pulverize them with a hammer. Use 1 1/2 teaspoons in 4 1/2 cups of water.

 

Simple Things to Help You

 

· For relaxation do this for 15 minutes every day. Lie on the floor

with your feet on a chair so your thighs are at a right angle to the seat of

the chair and the calves of your legs are lying across the seat of the chair.

It is as simple as that.

· Do dry skin brushing which will stimulate the liver and adrenal

glands, increasing their ability to handle the toxins — see the Candida Group

· Thump your thymus to stimulate it. Using your knuckles thump gently

but firmly on your middle of your breast bone. Thump about 10 times in a row.

Do this several times a day to wake up your thymus which is very important

part of the immune system.

 

Cooking and Food Storage

 

When cooking and handling food it is important to handle, store and cook

food correctly in order to retain healthy live-giving nutrients available in

them.

Do not over cook any meats or vegetables, in order to retain their healthy

nutrients and active enzymes, which are important for digestion. Cooking at

low temperatures for a longer period of time is better than cooking at high

temperatures that damage foods.

The best cooking oil is coconut oil - Of all the available oils, coconut

it is nearly a completely

saturated fat, which means it is much less susceptible to damage when it is

heated, and it can withstand higher heat than others (up to 375 degrees

Fahrenheit). It can be mixed half and half with butter to increase the flavours

in

certain foods.

Anytime you need an oil to cook with, coconut oil can automatically be used

in place of butter, margarine, olive oil or any other type of oil in all

recipes. Buy a good quality coconut oil for cooking as described in the Coconut

Oil section above.

Do not microwave food, water or drinks - The most important rule in cooking

is not to microwave any food, not even to heat leftovers, water or drinks.

Recent research shows that microwaved food causes severe molecular damage in

the body. When eaten it causes abnormal changes in human blood which can be

viewed in a live blood cell analysis.

These changes cause deterioration and damage to the immune system. In simple

terms, microwave ovens change the molecular structure of food with

radiation. If manufacturers would have more accurately called them " radiation

chambers " it's doubtful they would have ever sold one, but that's exactly what

a

microwave oven IS.

Do not buy irradiated foods - When food is irradiated the radiation breaks

up the molecular structure of the food and creates a whole new set of

chemicals known as " unique radiolytic products " (URPs). These URPs include

benzene,

formaldehyde and a host of known mutagens and carcinogens. Irradiation kills

vitamins, friendly bacteria and enzymes in food, and effectively renders the

food " dead " and therefore useless to your body.

Regulations vary from country to country, and even in the United States they

can vary between states. Check regulations in your area to find out what

foods have been approved for irradiation. As far as we know all spices in the

United States and Canada are irradiated, and in the United States some fresh

produce and meats are also irradiated.

The kinds of pots and pans to use - Cooking pots and pans must not be

aluminum nor Teflon coated. Teflon releases a gas that is harmful when ingested

in

foods cooked in them.

Pots and pans made of cast iron are best. They need to be well-seasoned with

coconut oil before use. There are also good pots and pans made of cast iron

and coated with heavy enamel, which are very good too. High grade stainless

steel pans are also good, as well as glass or stone.

Containers for storing foods - All containers for food should be made of

glass, and not plastic, because plastic releases gases that leach into foods.
