Two great sites to look up medications

( I don't use prescription drugs, but thought this might be useful for those

that do.)

Someone wrote:

Several years ago, an idiotic primary care physician who was apparently

trying to kill me and some other patients, prescribed meds for me that were

contra-indicated for another drug I was taking. I learned then that I would

NEVER

fill a prescription without doing my own independent examination of the drug

prescribed. [in my case, my NEW doctor, when he heard about my old doctor,

said, " You're lucky to be alive. " I said, " you're kidding of course, " He said,

" no, I am dead serious. " ALWAYS check a prescription before you take it or

fill it.

Remember HALF of all doctors graduated in the LOWER half of their class.

Sadly I think the contraindicated medications thing happens all too

often. When I looked into what my father was taking he had something

like that, so I made him discuss it with his doctors.

And my sister-in-law died last year: coroner's verdict? Kidney failure

from medication(s).

I think a big problem in the States, is that a lot of people see

several different doctors. Each doctor acts independently,

prescribing medication for whatever symptom that is presenting to them

at the time. Sadly, I think many symptoms 'pop up' as a result of the

additional med, resulting in yet something else being prescribed, so

that you often see people taking 5 or more prescription meds. And not

one of their doctors is aware of all of them, nor probably what their

interactions are.
