Guest guest
My friend had an interesting question. Is raw cane sugar really better for you than refined white sugar? Is the differance significant. I have also been wondering for a while now how Stevia works. It's not sugar so what exactly is in it and what does it do to your body?? No one I've asked so far knows... Does anyone here have any info?
Guest guest
Cane sugar is from the juice of the sugar cane and then dried. The refined sugar is treated with ACIDS that is why it is not good for the body. The more refined, the more acid ... so you can imagine the white sugar's content of acid. I use stevia, the powderized leaves - the green stevia, and all i need is just a tiny pinch to sweeten food. Stevia helps regulate blood sugar too. I just love it. Aftertaste comes when you use too much. Once in a while i used the liquid for cooking. I don't use the white powder because it has a stabilizer. Guest guest
Hello Dave; The less any food is processed, the less harmful it is . Sugar is refined and higly processed which is one reason that anything not processed such as honey for example, is better then sugar. Unprocessed honey has many nutrients it it - sugar has none. Here are some urls about sugar. The url for Weston Price is also below - you can do search there. Steveia is a natural sweetener - it is actually a plant and some people do grow it. It is safe even for diabetics. blessings Shan The Saccharine Disease This is a book; according to it, many illlnesses are actually caused by sugar. White flour breaks down into sugar too. _http://journeytoforever.org/farm_library/Cleave/cleave_toc.html_ (http://journeytoforever.org/farm_library/Cleave/cleave_toc.html) Replacing Refined Sugars with Natural Sugars One Step At a Time Sugar has absolutely no nutritional value whatsoever. Not only does it totally lack nutrients, but when you eat sugar it actually robs your body of nutrients-- vitamins, minerals and even enzymes. Sure sugar may be temporarily pleasing to the taste buds, but the rest of the body suffers for it. The sad thing is that most people are not aware of the devastating effects that excess sugar consumption has on the body. The cartoon illustrates a typical day for many Americans and how the standard American diet affects our health, especially the way we think and feel. Artificial sweeteners in use today pose significant dangers. There are many healthy alternatives to both refined sugar and artificial sweeteners, including maple syrup, dehydrated sugar cane juice (sold as Sucanat and Rapadura), date sugar, raw unfiltered honey and molasses. Consumed in moderation as part of a nutrient-dense diet that includes plenty of good quality fats, these mineral-rich, naturally sweet foods allow us to enjoy the sweet taste while nourishing the body at the same time. In strict moderation, they can even be used by diabetics in conjunction with a nutrient-dense, high-fat diet. _http://www.westonaprice.org/transition/sugars.html_ (http://www.westonaprice.org/transition/sugars.html) Sugar: Too Sweet to be True Health experts agree that the overuse of sugar is directly linked to many growing health concerns ranging from obesity and tooth decay to depression. _http://www.alamedasun.com/index.php?option=com_content & task=view & id=2906 & Item id=22_ (http://www.alamedasun.com/index.php?option=com_content & task=view & id=2906 & Itemid\ =22) _The Kitchen Transition_ (http://www.westonaprice.org/transition/kitchen.html) Now that you've eliminated the sweet sugar from your kitchen, your next step is .... Guest guest
Stevia is an excellent sweetness source that has demonstrated no harm to diabetics. I find the liquid not as good or as tasty... ************************************************************** , " moonphish_65 " <moonphish wrote: > > > My friend had an interesting question. Guest guest
Posted by: " melly banagale " " The refined sugar is treated with ACIDS that is why it is not good for the body. " This reminds me of an incident with my brother and his wife about 8 years ago. They both work at a sugar beet factory, and when they were visiting us they saw my brownish organic sugar. My s-i-l exclaimed how it was clearly inferior sugar because of its color. Why, at her job that would be sent back for more " washing. " She couldn't understand how we could eat sugar that wasn't bright white and CLEAN! Nevermind that what they are " washing " away are the nutrients. They use the terminology " washing " the way dentists take " pictures. " Carolyn Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile. Try it now. Guest guest
I would go with organic sugar. Raw sugar is usually just glorified white sugar with a little molasses added for color.
