A body needs a healthy diet and exercise. Our bodies should eat 80% alkaline

foods and 20% acidic foods.

Too much sugar, starches, dairy and white foods will cause illnesses, like

constipation. So increase fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans and nuts.

Olive oil coldpressed is the best oil. Organic yogurt is good for the digestion

and plenty of bottled water. So give your boy plenty of fruit and 3 Almonds

a day. I prefer the almonds in the shells. I tried the greek organic yogurt

and found it much tastier then the regular kind.

Just checking in.. I never heard back whether the boy was

experiencing the desire to eliminate. It may have sounded like too

weird of a question, let me explain why I was asking:

If he has desire but can't/won't: consider homeopathic Nux Vomica.

In the case of no desire, even for weeks- with stools that are very

dry and painful- consider homeopathic Alumina.

Hope he feels better soon...

Certainly look FIRST at diet. Unless there is some particular dis-ease of

the digestive system.. it can usually be traced back to the diet. Try

knockin' dairy out of the picture. Is he living on pizza at school? Gotta

love school diets.

Hello dear friends, I am so grateful for all your suggestions about my

grandson's constipation. I have collected them all and will send them to my

son

today. I have delayed doing this because when I tried to point out how

serious this can be, my kids took it as a criticism of their parenting skills

and

did not want to hear it.

But I did make one breakthrough and this is what my son just said in

response to your question about whether the boy had a desire to go to the

bathroom

or not:

" We've been doing pretty well with Eric getting him going every two days

which resulted in easier painless moves that don't clog the plumbing. I've

been

busier as of late and have not been reminding him and his performance has

slacked to 3 days, occasionally 4. It's obvious when it's been 3 or 4 days due

to the clog that has to be dealt with. Fortunately this happens much more

rare than in the past, so that's really good.

He's asked that we remind him to go because he doesn't make the effort,

forgets, I don't know. We have him draw a circle on the calendar so that he's

clear when he went last which used to be a point of argument. We've now got

months of records and he's generally much better. "

With this positive a response to my sticking my nose into their business, I

will forward all of your suggestions about what to do for the boy. This

seems so incredibly elementary, the importance of elimination, but apparently

people think nature will take care of itself and not to worry. But I know that

" death begins in the colon " as one book is titled, and major problems are in

the making right now in this boy.

Thank you all for your help. One thing, if anybody knows of a bowel

" cleansing " method that is advertised all the time, one that is approved for a

boy

of this age... he is small for his age too, so weight might make a

difference... I'd like to know. All of the products on the market are for

adults and my

kids would hesitate to try them for a young boy.

Thank you all again... I am not ungrateful for all of your help. I am

collecting it, but have been afraid to forward these ideas lest they be

rejected

out of hand. My kids have never forgotten that I was one of those " alarmists "

who prepared for Y2K !!! LOL! My track record for fear mongering is a bit

of a handicap.

Keep in mind, if you use psyllium, you have to drink lots of water

and sometimes children won't drink enough.

My granddaughter has an occasional problem with constipation and all

she requires is a couple of bran crackers.
