Guest guest
There has been discussion about this topic on this list in the past. You might want to search the archives on the website. Lots of strong opinions on both sides of this debate. To my knowledge there is NO hard research to back up the claims that synthestic vitamins are inferior. As you point out, the so-called natural vitamins are quite expensive, and when I compared labels back about 25 years ago, the so-called natural vitamins had much less potency. Right now, I take lots of herbs and vitamins. If I switched over to the so-called natural vitamins, I would have to take far less of them, which I feel would endanger my health. I suppose if I earned ovedr $100,000 a year I probably would go with the so-called natural vitamins. But as I barely am able to pay rent, utilities, buy food and supplements, switching over is just not feasible for me. Synthetic vitamins seem to do me well. Some supplements like Alpha Lipoic Acid and Benfotiamine are only available as synthetic. So I am quite happy taking synthetic vitamins. Personally I think the crusade against synthetic vitamins is just hype to sell consumers really expensive vitamins with no proven value. But each of us has to evaluate and decide for ourselves. If you locate any websites with real information, not just assertions, please post the URLs here. I'd like to read them. Guest guest
I have read that B complex vitamins cannot be made naturally. They are always synthetic. Brewers yeast is the only way to get them naturally other than food. I read this in an Adelle Davis book years ago. Whether things have changed since this very knowledgeable pioneer of healthy wrote the book I don't know. I find a capsule with high equal doses and have taken them for over 30 yrs. Guest guest
I find the biggest problem to be with oil soluble vitamins.Synthetic vitamin A is more toxic than natural.Synthetic vitaminD also is more toxic;the best source is sunshine then fish oil.Vitamin E presents a different problem ..The synthetic version is a left handed molecule and is hard for the body to use.I believe that mixed topical is better than just alpha. In any case most synthetic vitamins are petroleum based and I doubt that to be good for us. Joe Alobar <Alobar wrote: There has been discussion about this topic on this list in the past. Guest guest
Well, i think i had to agree to you very much, coz some people. especially for those who had barely enough money to buy other so called natural vitamins , are relying only to synthetic vitamins...but greatly they are improving and their health too..the natural so called vitamins are so expensive...but most of them are done by manufacturing process also..so it may be synthetic too.. So, the best thing is..eat moderately..and don't forget your vitamins...especially vitamins C..I'm taking synthetic vitamins too n your body doesn't know whether the vitamins you are taking is natural or synthetic..but synthetic vitamins have strong efficacy also against viruses n bacteria...
