RareJewel,

No need to lower your cholesterol.

The cholesterol charts are inaccurate.

High cholesterol is a myth.

There are better indicators of health.

I have been working with my own choleesterol for a very long time. It is not

always the level but the quality - high LDLs are not good no matter what any

article says to the contrary. Besides diet, taking Omega-3 and Red Rice Yeast

(plus many other supplements), my cholesterol can be 200 or 225. When it is

200, my HDLs are about 79 and, when it is 225, the HDLs are almost 100. This is

excellent and no concern.

In the past, many people on this list have given excellent suggestions for

lowering cholesterol, which I have successfully followed. I do not seem to get

it below 200 but this is not a concern with the HDLs so high. So, it is not the

total but the HDLs and your Triglycerides (should be low).

Do not allow the doctor to just push cholesterol drugs....check your

cholesterol numbers. I hope this helps. Also, so a cholesterol search for past

posts on this topic. There is a wealth of invaluable information, links and

personal experiences on this forum.

Two books I suggest as well are " The Cholesterol Myth " by Dr. Ufe

Ravinskov a brilliant retired nephrologist from Scandinavia

and " Overdosed America " by Dr. John Abramson a professor of medicine

at Harvard. I had the pleasure of being on a medical panel at

Boulderfest 2005 with both of them and they have spent a lot of time

dispelling the nonsense about cholesterol. It was a pure money

grabbing ploy by the pharmaceutical industry and now in small part by

the alternative industry who touts supplements to lower cholesterol

knowing that this is not the problem. Inflammation is the cause of

the damage that leads to cardiovascular disease. Much of it is due to

environmental toxicity, stress and infection.

Just in case someone know, I have looked for a scale on the net, about

converting the Americans cholesterol numbers in to Europeans, but so

far not found any. Do you know any.....
