Guest guest
I take the exact opposite approach. I never take sudafed, tylenol, or any other such medicines. Most of them attempt to dry out sinuses. The body eliminates viral and bacterial crud thruough mucous, so those " remedies " make the body work harder and prolong the healing process. NSAIDs like Tylenol and Advil have long term toxicity, so I never use them. I always take cod liver oil in winter for vitamin D3. Plant based D2 is not nearly as useful. When I have a viral infection, I up my daily dose of D3. Taking vitamin C to bowel tolerance is something I find very useful. See here: http://www.orthomed.com/titrate.htm Be sure to get plenty of bedrest. When I have a flu, I generally need over 10 hours sleep a night. Stinting on sleep makes the healing process take a lot longer. Using a Netti pot is something I do daily, but is especially useful when sinuses are gunky. Guest guest
Kathy A lot of those over the counter drugs are extremely dangerous and toxic to our liver and some other organs. What should be done is natural remedies and taking immune boosting supplements. I am not familiar with Homeopathic remedies but am here to learn. I am a cancer survivor on my third round but have refused all chemo/rads and adjuvant hormone therapy. For immune boosting I would gor for IP-6 and Epicor. June - > Need some help. Guest guest
I almost never get anything that is going around, but I got that flu! Just when I thought I was over it, I had a relapse and it was much worse the second time. I did have a fever, both times...the second time was 101.7 for 5 days. so be really careful about doing too much, too soon. I also drank lots of water, took lots of vit. C, used Zinc lozenges to help with the cough. I had trouble sleeping for most of the time, but rested every chance I got. Eat lots of veggies, fruits, soups, etc to get all the vitamin help you can. I don't take NSAIDS, either. They don't really help me and I don't know what harm they may be doing. I'd rather stick with the natural stuff and eating healthy and drinking lots of water.
