Hi, I am new here also. I am desperate to get healthy again. I used

to be really healthy & active, but was " diagnosed " with severe

fibromylagia years ago, after they couldn't figure out what was wrong

with me. For those of you who don't know, fibromyalgia is supposedly

a muscle & joint disease that causes widespread pain to different

degrees & they don't know what causes it, or how to treat it, except

to give you pain meds & muscle relaxers for muscle spasms. since

then I have gotten steadily worse with my symptoms, have even gotten

new symptoms that worry me, but whenever I go to my doctor all they

do is try to push more medications on me, & don't even try to figure

out what is the cause of all this. I have lost my trust & faith in

traditional doctors, & have decided to take my health in my own hands

& try to research & figure out what is wrong with me, & what natural

cures & vitamins & herbs might help. I was only in my mid-twenties

when all of these symptoms started & have had to quit working & go on

disability because the pain & fatigue have gotten so bad that I can

barely get out of bed some days & doing everything hurts, the pain is

there just about 24/7 & I want to get off all the medications & get

my life back. I don't totally believe the diagnosis of fibro, but

don't know what else it could be.

Here are the symptoms that bother or worry me the most, but there are

others. Does anyone have any idea what might help? The main symptom

is severe pain in all my muscles & joints,(mostly in upper & lower

back, neck, shoulders, knees, hips) severe fatigue ( I have noticed

the fatigue is worse when the pain is worse), memory fog, trouble

concentrating, trouble sleeping deeply, chronic constipation, severe

migraine headaches on one side of my head from 1 to 4x a month,

nausea, weakness. And my immune system is shot, I get every virus &

bug that comes along & it takes me twice as long as everyone else to

get rid of it.

I just started taking more vitamins, eating healthier & more raw

foods, & am doing a " colon cleanse " thing, which seems to help a

little. Also I do epson salt baths when the pain & stiffness is real

bad 7 that seems to help a little. And extra Iron, vitamin C, & B-

vitamins seems to help with the fatigue.

Anyone have any idea's??

Thanks, Theresa in OR.

The number one thing is DO NOT take iron unless you have been tested

and know for a fact you need it. This is very serious for all to

note. Do some research on iron overload or hemochromatosis (genetic

disorder which I have) and you will see. Note: Senior vitamins do not

contain iron and Geritol is no longer a big seller. The number 2 thing

I would look into is Antibiotic Protocol. You may have a pathogen that

has made a home in your muscles and it is taking all your nutrients for

itself leaving you with nothing but profound fatigue and pain. Check

into Mycoplasma bacterial infection and see your symptoms. Insurance

will pay for test if you're positive, and longterm treatment, but won't

if you test negative. Too much trouble for doctors to risk, if

negative you'll scream about the cost, so they just go there.

Otherwise, at the least stick with vitamins and supplements to give

your body a fighting chance.

Good luck, Jan

Theresa, try natto (or nattokinase, the enzyme in natto). From David Williams,

DC, newsletter: " There are so many conditions that might benefit from natto

that it's hard to list them all, especially when you consider how many problems

benefit from improved circulation. American doctors are just beginning to use

natto, so more information is becoming available every day. It has applications

in treating practically any chronic illness, even those that are not generally

thought of as circulation problems, such as chronic fatigue syndrome,

fibromyalgia and multiple sclerosis. "

Hi, I'm new here also.

Have you checked your temperature? Take it 3 hrs after getting up in the

morning, then every 3 hours; total of 3 times a day and then average the 3. If

it is consistently lower on average than the normal 98.6, you might have

Wilson's Temperature Syndrome. Check this website:

www.Wilsonstemperaturesyndrome.com There ia a lot of information there for

people with a lot of unexplained symptoms.

I have this syndrome and I feel tons better when my temperature is up to 98.6;

everything in my body works better.

Hi Theresa, I to have fibro, I'm on the site tonight because I just

developed tinnitus, and I'm thinking...what next?

I know how depressing it can be. All I can say, is the warmer months

should be better for you (If you are in the u.s.a.) One of the first

things I found that worked for me was a Malic Acid and Magneseum mix

pill twice a day. I get the ones by SolorRay. They will help alot

along with the muscle relaxers you get etc.

Hope this helps. You sounded like you were hurting. This does not

agree with everyone either. Best to take with food, you know.

I can track my fibromyalgia back to at least my teen years. I would

get a pins & needles feeling from my soles to my knees when I tried

to run. I used to love water skiing but by the time I was in my late

twenties one circle around a small lake left my arm, leg and shoulder

muscles in spasms and pain. I spent 13 years on an industrial floor.

When the work triggered muscle spasms through out my back, shoulders

and arms the doctors said it was chronic tendenitis and put me on

Relefen. 15 or so years later it occured to one of my doctors that

perhaps my kidneys should be checked as the medication can cause

damage to these organs. Fortunately they tested out OK and now I only

take prescription meds when absolutely neccessary. Eventually I was

also diagnosed with hypoglycemia, nearly died from an under active

thyroid, experienced mega migraines (from basic to complex), asthma,

allergies, IBS and the list goes on. I suggested to the doctors (I've

seen several) that all these illnesses were connected. They were

adamant that there was no connection and kept trying to prescribe

medications for each illness. I am now in my 50s have decided to deal

with this as naturally as possible. I eat as much organic food as I

can afford.

Try to eat lots of greens as those of us with FMS seem to be low on

magnesium. I take magnesium supplements, 5-HTP which helps me to

sleep well, acidolphilis, watch my coffee intake, drink green and

white tea as well as herbal tisanes. I'm trying to eliminate as many

chemicals from my life as possible. Especially cleaning agents and

health and beauty items. Yes, I still have pain, but I'm still

functional. I've learned to live around the fibro fog and short term

memory loss. I do a lot of puzzles (Suduko), word games, free cell

etc that keep my mind sharp. My dog insures that I get out for a

walk. I have a cane for those days when one of my legs has so much

pain that just moving it is excruciating. Although I think crutches

may work better on those days when I've twisted, lifted or turned too

much and triggered massive muscles spasms. I refuse to let this

syndrome get the best of me. I keep researching, looking not only for

answers but what works for others. Support is important.

Have you had your thyroid checked??? I was also DX'd with Fibro many

years ago, and many, many of the women on the thyroid groups also

have been told they have Fibro and CFS - along with other endocrine

system issues such as adrenal problems - when you get your thyroid

and adrenals working again many find relief.

There are also saliva testings that can be done for adrenals,

hormones, thyroid etc at CanaryClub.com or org.

often the imbalance in hormones and a lack of testosterone can cause

fibro pain as well, and again a lack of proper hormones sometimes

points back to the endocrine system not working.

My fibromyalgia responded incrediabley well to Evening Primrose oil. I had to

adjust the dose, especially at first since I got a tonin release overload, but I

made steady improvement instead of decline after that.
