Guest guest
I have gallstones as seen by CT scan and ultrasound. I've done liver flush/cleanses on many an occasion very successfully in the past, but I have a new issue and hope someone from the Alternative Medicine Forum might have some knowledge about this issue. I went to a well known alternative doctor in California recently for a second opinion regarding the above. I asked him about the liver cleanses and he said that when the gallstones are in the bile ducts of the liver the stones can be gotten rid of by doing a liver cleanse. But, he warned me that if the gallbladder is full of stones a gallstone flush can bring on an emergency with a stone clogging one of the bile ducts and the gallbladder may have to be removed then surgically on an emergency basis. He has seen this on a number of occasions in his practice. I wanted to do another " cleanse " to rid of the gallstones in the gallbladder, but he advised against it. My health provider (Kaiser) wants me to have the gallbladder removed. I went to the alternative doctor to get a second opinion and the above is what he told me. Now I am not sure of what to do. I had terrible gallbladder pain in December and November 07, but it seems better now. If anyone has any suggestions about this or if any of you know what the gallbladder is for, please respond. Thank you very much. I am in a quandry about this since the alternative doctor is advising surgery as well. Linda
Guest guest
For Linda: I had a gall bladder attack a few years ago. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. After an excruciating and lengthy emergency room visit, I received the diagnosis along with the instruction that I had to have it removed as it was full of stones. However, I had a reprieve long enough to learn its function and decide that I didn't want to lose it if I didn't have to. I checked the net and found instructions for an old fashioned flush consisting of olive oil and lemon juice. Fairly awful, but it worked very well. I cruised the net some more and read some testimonials about a product called " Stone Free " made by Planetary Herbals. I was both pleased and surprised that it worked and continues to work for me. You're supposed to take them regularly, but I will take about a dozen when I get a twinge, then follow-up with a few for a day or two. It has been over two years since I was told to get the surgery. You really don't want to lose parts of your digestive system unless it's absolutely necessary (for example if it is diseased). Some people have the gall bladder removed and report no negative after-effects. Others report significant and debilitating problems after having it removed.
