Guest guest
Hi Fran, My suggestion is high-dose niacin treatment. Also, get your Free T3 checked. Getting this to the top of the range (if you are hypothyroid) can help eliminate the 'high cholesterol' symptom. Other thing that has helped my hubby is oils and lecithin. Guest guest
May I suggest that you do some heavy reading before you go onto a cholesterol lowering diet? Dr. Mercola's site would be a good place to start; then read News Target (Mike Adams and his group). Mike Adams has some good, free online books that cover this topic nicely. The fact is, in terms of heart health, there are bigger fish to " fry. " Cholesterol is a relatively weak marker that garners way too much attention these days mainly because of the huge pharma influence with the multi-billion dollar statin industry. One thing that you can be pretty sure of if you are under 80 years of age: If your cholesterol is at or above the 300 range, you need to make some changes in diet and balance your omega 3 to omega 6 & 9 ratio. This means that you need to eat fewer grains and grain based foods and eat more greens. If you happen to be in the over 80 age group and have a very high total cholesterol number, you are in luck statistically, because the higher your total cholesterol number is the longer you will live! That fact alone should give you something to consider no matter what your age is. And by the way, no fried :0) foods if you are intent on staying healthy. Guest guest
My dad was able to cut his cholesterol in half, by adding 3000 mg of Fish Oil daily, under the direction of his physician. He was already on a cholesterol reducing medication, which was not lowering to what it needed to be. Added the fish oil and within a month or two, it was cut in half....and miracle for him as he's adjusted his diet and taken meds for years. His physician told him that he routinely prescribes this for his patients as it works in almost all of them. Hope this helps! Roni from Kansas **************Start the year off right. Any info. appreciated I don't pay close attention to my cholesterol or worry about it, but I have had my blood tested a few times, and over the past three years my total cholesterol dropped from 208 to 169. The 208 reading was taken in June 2004, about 8 months after I had reduced my carb intake and lost 30 pounds over 5 months. The 169 reading was taken a few months ago, and the biggest changes in my life over the past three years are an added 25 pounds of muscle from weight training 3x per week, a doubling of my meat consumption in order to get the protein to sustain my workouts, and an almost complete purging of polyunsaturated vegetable oil from my diet. The fats in my diet are from meat and any other whole foods containing fat, coconut milk, virgin coconut oil, butter, and minimal amounts of olive oil. Needless to say, I was greatly amused that my cholesterol would drop 39 points after eating a diet that favors all the fats that mainstream nutritional dogma says will raise cholesterol. As far as I'm concerned, it just confirms what people like Gary Taubes and the Weston Price folks have been saying for years.
Guest guest
Pretty much ditto except I used Niacin about 25 years ago- 500mg TID with lab work etc with an MD. Mine went from 310 to 167 within 6 weeks. Of course oat meal, grapefruit, brocolli, cabbage, garlic, and tea replaced tamales, pork, fried chicken, and beer. - reneerm601801 Monday, January 07, 2008 6:37 PM Re: Re: lowering high cholerterol My dad was able to cut his cholesterol in half, by adding 3000 mg of Fish Oil daily, under the direction of his physician. Guest guest
I use Garlinase brand garlic extract always with assured sucess. Sensible reduction of saturated fat intake and limiting carbs to 50 grm or so a day also help. Keep in mind that unless you have very elevated cholesterol, the villains are the tryglicerides and the oxidated LDL fraction. Take natural antioxidants such as curcumin, green tea, etc. Finally I always always treat the adrenal glands. Too much adrenaline...and you are done. Use adrenal tonics such a ashwaganda, panax ginseng, etc. Cholesterol is not the problem. Our enemies are stress, faulty eating habits, the food industry, the FDA-AMA and the pharma industry.
