Guest guest
I have incredibily high anxiety and don't want to be medicated for it. Does anyone have some suggestions on some natural remedies or treatments I can try first? Hi, I have ADD accompanied with anxiety attacks. I treat it with self- hypnosis (meditation). I first began with transcendental meditation (the beatles and maharji hahesh yogi in the 1960's). I suggest getting hypnosis to get you started with effective meditation. Then meditate 3 times a day, especially when you're anxious. The more you do it, the more it will help. Camomille tea and herbs to relax you can also help. ONe needs to remember that anxiety is self-defeating and you can beat it by being relaxed and well grounded. Jeff
Guest guest
There are many inhibitary amino acids that will help anxiety and the mineral magnesium as well. It is best to get tested. www.sanesco.net is a lab that tests urine and saliva for the balance of amino acids. Really great results. Why guess, as neurotransmitter imbalances can change by taking too much of one amino acid and it becomes really complex. There is probably a trained practitioner in your area. Really nice people too! I use Peter Gillham's Natural Calm product because it comes in the powder form and as a result, allows alof of dosing flexibility. Guest guest
Non a politically correct answer, and not promoting anything but: Many of the folks I worked with in the mental health field who had problems with anxiety used cannabis to relieve it. They said this worked better than the antipsychotics and anxiolytics I was trying to get them to keep taking. From what I could see, they seemed to have fewer problems when they smoked, and were much calmer. I didnt observe any untoward effects; and honestly, it seemed to me that this worked better for them than the meds did, in terms of their having much better control over their anxiety- ie the apparent reduction of high anxiety levels as evidenced by specific commonly observable behaviors. Guest guest
One of the best things for anxiety is yogic breathing. Especially long deep breathing and breathing while holding the breath out on the exhale. I would suggest taking a yoga class, especially a Kundalini Yoga class. Guest guest
yes, but of course,.......cannibis, or any such ingested drugging can have a 'masking' effect.....resulting in seeming as if, the situation has 'vanished' ha......but are not some of us more intelligent than that? bw - Michael Wednesday, December 26, 2007 2:26 PM Re: Re: Need suggestions for natural treatment for anxiety
Guest guest
Hello >>Posted by: " Guru K " greatyoga greatyoga Sat Dec 29, 2007 7:02 am (PST) One of the best things for anxiety is yogic breathing. Especially long deep breathing and breathing while holding the breath out on the exhale. I would suggest taking a yoga class, especially a Kundalini Yoga class. GB<< I think this is excellent advice. If you are able physically to exercise reasonably, and you do not have the funds to take Kundalini Yoga classes (I don't), You might try Ana Brett and Ravi Singh Kundalini Yoga DVD's. Go to Raviana.com, or Amazon.com. There are several reasonable workouts. Their workouts tend to be long, so I skip some of it. You do not have to be a yogi to do this. I don't do certain moves, but I adapt them to my body's alignment. The music is intoxicating, the productions are beautiful, and if you burn incense or candles while doing these DVD's, it can be very relaxing. There is a lot of breathing - breath work. Good stuff. An aside: I have taken meds for years, and believe me it is not fun. I am losing hair, have gained weight that I normally wouldn't, have health problems related to the meds. How does it sound to lose teeth from constant grinding, or losing the reflexes in your legs? If you can manage your life - talk things out with a trustworthy confidante, eat properly, take supplements, drink a lot of water, take in some nature once in awhile, get into a great hobby or do the work you love. and exercise, you will feel better. I clearly needed the meds, but maybe you won't. I wish you well. K
