I have just completed my annual physical exam and received the usual

influenza vaccination. Thanks to the progressive staff at Olmsted Medical

Group, I

did not have to be vaccinated with another dose of ethyl mercury preservative.

Yes, that's right, most flu shots contain mercury. Mercury is a known

neurotoxin. Power plants put on emission control systems to reduce or eliminate

the

mercury they emit. Public health agencies warn us about the potential

mercury content in the tuna we eat.

Yet vaccine manufacturers continue to use a mercury containing the chemical

as a preservative based on one set of tests performed in the early 1930s that

would never withstand the rigorous oversight medications receive today.

Veterinarians quit using ethyl mercury in the medicines they inject into our

pets several years ago.

I would like to publicly thank the physicians and staff at OMG that made it

possible for me to receive a mercury-free vaccination. I cherish this right

to choose a less risky alternative when one is readily available. Bravo for

OMG's patient inclusive system of medical care delivery
