Seeing as how I'm the Bitch that tries to steal YL's Christmas... I better stick with a business degree! I can be a super bitch in business and get paid WELL for it! ROFLMAO! Actually the interesting has been, that despite my dismal performance in math in high school and the lower grades, I've actually been finding it interesting and have been amazed that I can actually do the stuff. I have devised my own little theory, that children who are artistic and language oriented by nature, should be able to wait until they hit college before they start trying to learn algebraic expressions, linear math and the like. Those who are number and science oriented by nature should be allowed to pursue math in the lower grades and highschool to thier content because THEY are the ones who will most likely be using it... artsy-language will be doing other things and if they HAVE to have math, it's much easier to catch up when your brain is able to process the information. Mine couldn't when I was younger, It can now... Just my own little theory, it's a little whacky, but I like 'em that way! ROFLMAO! K Cheers! Once again I find that by being " original " I'm actually not! RO " FLMA " O! Glad to know though that I'm not as whacked out as some people think! And I'm glad it's working well for you. If it had been something implemented when I was a child, I'm sure I wouldn't have been knocked up the stairs as often or told that I was completely stupid... For kids like me, math is a complete self-demoralizer. Now... if I need help, I can just ask my 4th grade daughter! ROFLMAO! K Cheers! Guest guest
Actually, Kathleen, your idea is not at all an unusual one. I have unschooled four kids (still unschooling three of them), and have never actually put it in so many words, but that is a philosophy close to the way we 'school'. It has been very successful for us and many others. :-) Tracy New email address: rubberjunkie *Some people only dream of angels; we held one in our arms.* Remembering Jacob March 8 - 9, 1996 Our Angel: http://sids-network.org/fp/jacob.htm - I have devised my own little theory, that children who are artistic and language oriented by nature, should be able to wait until they hit college before they start trying to learn algebraic expressions, linear math and the like.
