Guest guest
Hi all, I went and picked up " Pumpkin " last night. On the way over I was toying with names such as Topaz, Marmalade, Pumpkin.... When I got there, I took one look at him and KNEW he had to be named Pumpkin, he looks like he swallowed one! HIM'S ON A DIET! The lady fostering him said " Oh, do you think he's overweight? " I was very good and didn't laugh in her face... overweight doesn't really begin to describe him... he looks like a very pregnant horse. Because of the weight, it's putting a strain on his back. So he's dieting. And he's definately food fixated. wants to be always eating. This whole experience has been rather extraordinary. As you know if you've been to Woobey World and read about how 'Woobeys " got their name, you will know that my first Manx was named Batman. A lovely cat. Anyway, this cat... when I saw his face I just KNEW he had to be mine. A lovely face and after I decided that he should be orange too. (when thinking about my " next Manx " I mean). I was very lucky, apparently after I talked to the fostering lady and had practically a done deal, she got SEVERAL phone calls from people wanting to take him home... his notice had way over 200 hits, which for a cat up for adoption is just amazing! She had to take his picture down just to stop the calls. Anyway, I went to pick him up last night... She said SHE was the one who named him Mr. Bumbly, because he had a shaved bum... poor cat. But what was REALLY 'freaky' or an amazing coincidence, she changed his name because she didn't like the name that the people who owned him but weren't taking care if him had given him... they had named him BATMAN! We don't know why they namned him that, he doesn't have a mask or anything... just another little " THIS CAT IS MINE " sign. My husband took one look at this poor overweight cat and decided that he hates him... called him a " Piece of Garbage that no one wants " . Well, EYE want him and the kids love him to bits already. He is a very laid back boy, and for a cat that's supposedly NOT a lap cat, he likes to lie on me chest and suck on my shirt... my first cat did that to my hair when it was long... He's not too thrilled with the old cat or the dog and has yet to meet Biggles... He's been very good with the kids too.... I got meself a Wonderful cat! K (who is NOT a Sook, never BEEN a Sook and never will BE a Sook! >stamping my little foot< ) Cheers! Guest guest
That is wonderful. After DH and I first got married we went the the animal shelter and picked up a cute little orange manx, he was so little and I named him Mr. Stubbins. He died a few days later of distemper, it still makes me sad to think of him. Seeing a picture of your Pumpkin made me remember him again. We now have 4 adult cats and 4 babies that are 1 wk old today. Rahnny

" but the truth of it is, I feel that I'M the lucky one. It was really nice this morning to come out of the bedroom, to see him playing with his toy and the children and then he dropped tools and came running to get morning strokes and cuddles. I mean ALREADY! He has complained about the state of me desk though. Says he wants to sleep up here but there is no room... guess I'll have to work on that... tomorrow... math exam today with lots of lab work! I just LOATHE Algebraic expressions, linear expressions, and grahping... AAARRRGGGHHH! K Cheers! Guest guest
I'm going to school for Therapeutic Massage. It is a perfect compliment for the Aromatherapy and Reiki. Not to mention it pays well so when I have children I don't have to work 40 hours a week. > I'm going for a BSB > in Business specializing in e-commerce. > Bill Seraphim's Touch http://store.seraphimstouch.com Essential Oils, Carrier Oils, Lotions, Body Butters and Bath Salts.
