Guest guest
Hello again everyone, I wanted to ask for your input regarding the issue of ingrown hairs. I have a friend who has an Armenian background and her skin is very thick and a bit of a darker complexion. She has very thick and curly hair. The hair on her face and body is thicker than normal and also has the tendency to be curly. She asked me for suggestions regarding her situation and I am at a loss as I have blonde very fine hair and don't think that I have ever experienced an ingrown hair. (lucky for me, cause her situation looks very painful) She says that because her hair is coarse and curly, she often gets boil-like spots on her face and her body because the hair gets trapped under the skin and cannot push its way through. As a result, she gets very sore, blemish-like red raised spots on her skin and she can not seem to leave them alone. Most often she picks at them and in support of her conclusion that it is a hair that has been trapped under the skin, she often finds that a coiled black hair will come out when she squeezes the contents (sorry about the visual there but I can not think of the proper word at the moment). The last time that she had a glycolic acid peel, the aesthetician used a 70% formula and it did not even turn her skin pink. She tried the product off TV called ProActive and it did not help. In fact she thinks that it basically did nothing. I feel badly for her because the raised red spots are not only painful but they are not attractive. I was wondering if a salt or sugar scrub would be helpful for her as she feels that part of the problem is that she has large pores that get blocked either with sebum or dry skin. If anyone has successfully dealt with the problem of ingrown hairs and/or anyone has any suggestions be they AT or otherwise, I would really appreciate hearing from you. Thanks in advance, Dorothy
Guest guest
Hi, I read in an old book by Edgar Cayce to place a plaster soaked in castor oil over the area, and it draws the hair to the surface. I have passed this on to some of my clients and they assure me that it works. HTH Jeanine

Guest guest
Hey Jeanine, That's interesting. Do you still have access to the book? What is the title of it? Could you expand upon the directions ie should the plaster be heated? How long should the plaster be left in place? Looking forward to your reply.
