Guest guest
Hi Marsha, I'm glad to hear that you are one who believes in using quality oils and not using synthetics. Actually there are a good deal of folks here who don't use any synthetic or adulterated oils, and we go to great lengths to procure oils that are PROVEN to be unadulterated and the real deal (tested and/or direct from the distillers and such). The main ingredient in wintergreen and birch is made up in a lab and is easily absorbed into the body and not easily processed by the body. Even IF you got methyl sal that wasn't lab created (which is unlikely that anyone here has - and that topic has been discussed by Essential Oil chemists ad nauseum over the years) it toxifies the liver WAY too easily. Now considering that due to lifestyles and surrounding environments most everyone has stressed livers, it is best to avoid the stuff. There is plenty of other stuff out there that can do a better job and not be so toxic (and not be so synthetic). *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com m_lybra [m_lybra] Hi Butch... I don't use synthetic oils. Only the pure stuff... so I stand by what I said. Guess you all don't mind the adulterated and synthetic oils. I choose not to use them and will pay the extra money because i believe in QUALITY not QUANTITY. Marsha
Guest guest
Hi Marsha, > I don't use synthetic oils. That's nice .. nor do I and I expect 99% of the folks on this list feel the same way with maybe exception for some who might use FO in soap. > Only the pure stuff... so I stand by what I said. Fair that is .. pure is good .. but I am not sure what you are standing by. If you are standing by the fact that Methyl salicylate stops pain I will agree with you .. don't know of anyone who would disagree .. I did not disagree in my post on Wintergreen and Sweet Birch. > Guess you all don't mind the adulterated and synthetic oils. Not a nice or fair comment this .. if you are upset with me for laying out some FACTS that might have burst a few balloons then dump on me but I recommend you lay off other folks cause you might bite off a bit more than you can chew. As a minimum its not a good way to win hearts and minds .. or support for an argument be it right or wrong. > I choose not to use them and will pay the extra money because i > believe in QUALITY not QUANTITY. Good for you .. so you are paying extra for Natural Methyl salicylate .. not that it would matter if it were natural of synthetic. I explained that in my post but for some reason you are getting mighty defensive. Like I said in my post, some folks wanna shoot the messenger. I wonder if you are on digest and haven't seen my post on Wintergreen and Sweet Birch .. or maybe you just have your mind made up and don't want to be confused by facts contrary to that mind set. If someone wants to counter anything I write I invite them to do it .. this list is about learning and I might learn something I wasn't aware of. :-) > Marsha Keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com >>>Wintergreen is Great for the Joints. >>>I often use it with Cypress (for circulation) and Marjoram (for >>>muscles) on my knees.
