Guest guest
Grow wild??? Wow, is all I can say!! Here they only survive the winter in the soutmost part of this country, or here in Stockholm in very sheltered positions. I just have to share this, there is a guy on my Swedsih gardening Forum, that holds a " forumist " gathering every year when his Wisteria is in bloom. Mmmm, maybe I will be able to compete with him in the years to come ;-D I will ask on the forum on how and when is the best way to get them and then email you Deonia privately - I'm as always, struck with the generousity and good will, that goes around this amazing group :-D Fragrant Blessings, Ylva
Guest guest
My neighbor across the street has Wisteria growing all over the place. You can't see their yard as the entire fence line and trees are covered in Wisteria. I've heard that you can pluck some off and reroot it, but I have a black thumb and don't know if I could get any to grow!! My whole front area is covered in violets and larkspur and although I've thrown out a ton of Bluebonnet seeds, I have yet to see them grow!! I do know that in a couple of months my Gardenia bush will be blooming with hundreds and hundreds of flowers and I can make my Gardenia oil again!!! It smells so good in my soap!!!! Gotta go look up how to grow Wisteria and snatch some from my neighbor's!! They grow wild here in Pensacola. I think i can just send you a piece of the wood with an " eye " on it, but i don't know if it should be old wood or new wood, or what time of the year i should try to get it to you. Mine are purple and smell so sweet when the wind waffs them toward my patio. Maybe some one on the perfume list would know, not sure, here all i have to do is pull up a piece of root and away it goes. Guest guest
A very dear friend successfully captured the fragrance of many new things last year ... including lilac flower essence, linden flower essence, tincture of FRESH lavender, raspberry and strawberry tinctures ... many more. I was incredibly JEALOUS!!!! I do quite well with dried herb extracts and infusions; and, I'm pretty proud of anything made with the rosemary I grow. But I digress ... wisteria blooms ... currently giving up their fragrance in both a flower essence attempt as well as a tincture. I'm a little concerned about the flower essence because the sun left the sky yesterday and didn't come back today. oh ... did I mention I'm doing this with bluebonnets too ... ours are VERY fragrant. Waiting now for my mimosa trees to bloom. With those I'll also try an enfleurage. Linda Wallen Village Treasures ljwallen " Leave room in your garden for the angels to dance. Guest guest
Hi Nikie, On Anya's Natural Perfumery group Jeanne Rose said to fill a jar with wisteria flowers, cover flowers with a high proof alcohol, cap the jar and refrigerate overnight. Next day pour the infused alcohol over a new jar full of wisteria flowers and keep repeating the process throughout the wisteria blooming season until you have a fragrant purple alcohol. Then store the jar in the freezer to keep the pretty purple color. This she says this can be used as a top note in perfumes. Have fun! If you try it and it comes out well, please let us know! I'd love to try it, but I don't have a wisteria plant here (if I only I knew about this method when I lived in NYC where there was wisteria growing all over the back alley!). *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com Nikie Brown - After The Rayne [nbrown] My neighbor across the street has Wisteria growing all over the place. What process are you using with the blue bonnets? > Linda Wallen *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com <http://www.alittleolfactory.com/>
