I use NO preservatives in any of my skin products... NOW. Course I'm not selling any NOW. And when I WAS selling them, I avoided having to use preservatives by not using any water based products, such as Rose Hydrosol in them... which I do NOW... cuz it's for ME and mine. I get your point... but me dearie, I'm going to disappoint you by NOT starting with ya! I ain't smart enough to keep up wit ya! ;-) Hugs K Cheers! I thought these two went a long way to helping preserve skin care products without actually having to add another preservative. I hope you have a lovely warm day when you get up. Guest guest
Merriebell - Vitamin E is an anti-oxidant, which merely serves to prevent oils from turning rancid, whereas preservatives help prevent germs from growing in a finished product. Someone else will have to discuss jojoba. Namaste, Lynette Terralyn at the Terminal, Philadelphia, PA --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Guest guest
Hey Kathleen, I moved my comments to the bottom. Some folks get wrapped around the axle on top or bottom posting .. I do it my way to make it easier to understand. > Well... that may be and I respect Martin enormously so I have no doubt it's > true. Having said THAT, I will just say that I prefer NOT to use absolutes in > skin products.... safe or not. It's the principal of the thing. If I go to all > the trouble to make something WITHOUT artificial ingredients, I'm going to > have that include my oils and I'm not really caring that it's only 1 part per > million or 600 parts per million. >shrug< But that's just me. Ain't got nuthing to do with respecting Martin or not .. got all to do with is there something unsafe or not unsafe with using Absolutes .. and all to do with do we wanna or do we not wanna use'em fer this and that. > Not starting an argument here (or if I am, it's entirely accidental), just > presenting my point of view. Understand .. so that means that you use NO preservatives in any of your skin products .. right? I mean .. you do accept that there is no such thing as a natural preservative that is SAFE and EFFECTIVE .. right? I'm not starting an argument either .. just making a point that I hope someone will disagree with so we can start one. ;-) And .. I wanted to disagree with the point that someone made that was referenced to Mojay .. who I personally think is more opinionated than he is knowledgeable about safety of absolutes .. not uncommon in the cottage industry of AT. Finally, I wanna point out again that Hexane is NOT harmful as some have come to believe due to urban rumor .. its used to make many cooking oils we find in the home .. and the final solvent used to produce an Absolute is something we find in every bar .. friggin Grain Alcohol. ;-) And finally-finally .. this post is being sent from my Draft File cause the damn electricity has been off all night here and I socked it away while my UPS was still operating .. then went out to the pub cause they had some lights and I wanted some grain alcohol .. came back and lights were still off .. sacked out in my chair .. just woke up and they are on again .. so I'm sending it and then sacking out cause its 0529 in the morning .. and them that are now waiting for answers to other mail will have it afore they wake up. ;-) > K > > Cheers! > Kathleen Petrides > The Woobey Queen > Woobeys: The Loving Touch Therapeutic Pillow > http://www.woobeyworld.com Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com >>> " Absolutes should not to be used for therapeutic purposes " .
