Oh my goodness, it IS confusing. Now I'm wondering if there are any " use "

differences between BC and the BF?

Anyone have any ideas?

Oman.

Its a big seller fer'shur.

Some .. but its kinda confusing. Frankincense is one of the most

difficult oils to get a handle on .. like a greased pig it is. Roughly,

but don't bet your life on it .. Boswellias are found in North Africa

and in Southwest Asia (Middle East and Arabian lands).

B. carteria and B. frareana are found in Oman.

B. carterii Birdwood & B. Bhau-dajiana Birdwood are found in Ethiopia,

Eritrea, Somalia and Suquatra Island, Yemen.

B. papyrifera (Del.) Hochst is found in Sudan and Ertrea.

B. sacre Flueckiger is found in Saudi Arabia.

I think there are like 20 different species of B. carteri and B.

frareana .. depends on where the gum is from and whether they keep it

pure .. don't mix it with other grades of gum. But keep in mind

that the major dealers are Arabs and they do that from time to time.

It is almost impossible to get consistent answers on the true Botanical

classification of the Frankincenses. But there are some who will tell

you they have all the answers. For sure there are many species in

Northern Africa and the Middle East.

Then you have the B. serrata which is the Indian Olibanum Tree.

B. carterii and B. thurifera are the common species in Somalia .. and

there are varieties of those two .. I saw a lot of it during my service

there .. and also found B. frareana there.

I chose Omani B. frareana because I like the odor more than I do

the others .. and we sell a LOT of it .. folks love it. I have tried

Somali B. frareana, Saudi B. carterii and Yemeni B. sacare .. but hands

down I like the Omani B. frareana.

I touched the tip of the ice berg on this. Wish I could tell you more

but I know all about the Frankincenses. Them whut says they are experts

on it .. they are either reading off a GC (which does show different

profiles) or the are at little bit confused methinks. ;-p

Martin has a very good Monograph on it .. and he has written a book on

Frankincense and Myrrh .. in both he admits there is total confusion.

The Monographs are at http://www.av-at.com/monographs.html
