Guest guest
a couple of days ago.... I got a knock on the door... was the county health department... wanting to look at me pond. First of all I wanted to know how they knew that we even HAD a pond as we were the people who put the thing in... They guy said they had been out here last year... I checked later with the husband and no they were. Husband and I think the neighbors called them. They are concerned about mozzy's of course. Well, anyway, the feller checked the pond for mozzy larve/eggs and didn't find any but he did find something called a Mozzy 'raft'. It's a little tiny black thing that a mosquito lays it's eggs on... interesting. My pond passed inspection, although we both agreed that we would soon need to put my pump back it to keep the waters moving round as mozzy larve drown in moving water. Anyway the reason he's checking is that apparently West Nile Virus has reached Southern CA and theyexpect it to reach us by the middle of the summer. Preventative measures and all that. Time for the Catnip and pond pump/fountain. K Cheers! Kathleen Petrides The Woobey Queen http://www.woobeyworld.com
