mLs-Kg and some other questions

Hi All!

Good day to you!

My first question~

1. How many millilitres are in a Kilogram of essential oil? A friend

forwarded to me a great measurement calculator:

http://www.the-sage.com/calcs/measures.html

Just input any number in any space and then click outside the box and it fills

in the rest. I just cannot convert mL to Kg on it. After much going back and

forth I now know why though!...I think! LOL!

2. Also, I am looking for a good explanation on WHY German Chamomile turns

blue, I know it is the steam distillation (heat) that causes a chemical change

in the oil, but what is the change? Is it this same process that turns Tansy and

Yarrow blue? Also, because Tansy is always listed as blue tansy, does that mean

that there are other colors of tansy??

3. I want to have some oils tested (GC/MS), but have found no place that

tests them that doesn't also sell them. Does this matter?? Or would it be

better to have them tested by someone that sells them? Any recommendations?

4. Just exactly what does " ethically farmed " mean, and does it mean the same

thing for different farms and different oils? What would be the standard

definition for " ethically farmed " ? Also I have only seen this term in regard to

peppermint and spearmint, does anyone know why?

5. On a label for an essential oil, can you say it is organic without it

being certified organic? I know all things that come from plant material are

organic just because they grow??, but is there an FDA or some other guideline

that regulates what are the standards for labeling EO's? I am sure that part of

this has been answered recently, I just want to know what not to put on my

bottles. If I make no medical or beauty claims can they can be labeled as

organic?

6. Is the oregano oil or as some put it, " oil of oregano " , that is out

there on the shelves of health food stores that people are taking for all kinds

of things, the same as an EO? I haven't seen it myself yet, but people who know

nothing about what EO are, or haven't even heard of them are wanting to get

oregano oil. And some have said that they buy it in capsules. Is it the oil in

the capsules? I would think it would eat right through a capsule! Oh! I guess

I just answered my question! LOL!

7. Where can I buy Barbara Lucks article on Vitex?

and finally...

8. What aromatherapy journal/magazine would you recommend and why.

I apologize if these questions have been answered before, and for being such

a big lump of them too!

Love, Paris Mickle~The Lily Cupboard
