Guest guest
And I know where ALL the birdies is... outside my house chirping up a storm... It's been a while so I thought it was time to do a " What's happening in me garden " Post. (P.S. What's up with idma?) March has been a very warm month for us here. We had 12 days of record breaking temps and blew away over a 100 old records... we were in the middle 80's on some days. Truly miserable for those of us who like it a bit cooler. Others however, were estactic. Now this week, my garden has truly sprung into spring. My lilacs, my sad excuse for lilacs, my non-smelling lilacs are in complete open face bloom, by the weekend they'll be turning all brown and horrid. And by non-smelling, I mean you have to stand a foot away from this huge Tree/Bush to get any sense of fragrance... However the upside is that me minneola tree is in bloom as well. And it smells tee-totally gorgeous! Feeling a little blue, pissed off or just bored... out to the tree and a deep inhale. It's dizzingly intoxicating. Shame it doesn't come out of a bottle smelling like that. I was out training for Bay to Breakers on Sunday (if you can imagine that!) and someone's orange tree below me was just shrieking spring delight and you could really smell it as you went past it... I paused going and coming! yum! My herbs are starting to put out little budlets... the oregano and the Lavender and I swear I saw some red flowers on me Pinapple Sage. Just a couple, but they were there. The strawberries are also starting to get buds on them, in another couple of months... The Lemon bush/tree is going to have a whale of a time in a couple of more weeks. It's just pregnant all over with fat buds. Will make up for last year when we had a very bad season for my tree. I couldn't send any out this year as I just didn't have many at all. After the husband did a hatchett job on it last summer, I think it's finally recovering in a huge way. Birds are nesting all over the place. My daughter brought home what we think is a humming birds nest with one egg left in it... she's been trying to hatch it by keeping them warm with Woobeys, but I really don't think it's going to work. My sweet William is also going for broke with nauseatingly hot pink flowers... my hyacinths, daffs and muscari are all dead and gone for the season while my Glads are about 1.4 feet tall. The Honeysuckle is also perfuming the back part of the garden... it's in perpetual bloom, but has more blossoms now that during the winter. Spring has definately come to San Jose. Cheers!
