Guest guest
I got a e-mail with some very personal information in it, information that could not easily be obtained, or so I thought- place & date of birth, a old phone number and address, I moved last year it was written by someone saying they were a rep.of the airline and my mother had been killed in a plane crash off the ivory coast 4 years ago, and they have been actively searching for her next of kin and were unable to reach me by the phone # they had. I checked there was a plane crash the details were correct. I spent the weekend trying to get embassys on the phone and searching for a passenger list, this morning I called the state department, and after forwarding it they confirmed it was a hoax a offical looking hoax, and the circumstances seemed unlikely, somehow you get caught up in it, even my husband was surprised at how much this person knew. No one knows how my personal info got to this person, but it did and I downloaded a spyware program, it caught something and deleted it, from what I understand we all will have some kind of spyware in our computer, ads use it etc- ever go on a website and it recognizes you- thats the " good " spyware, but the bad kind, and I don't know if this is what caused me to get the e-mail, it can track your every move and keystroke getting your CC#s & really do damage. get a spyware program and protect yourselves, I was fooled big time and I would like to think that I am not that naive' but?
