The point I made about no gummit being responsible for terrorist acts .. I was reading into what was inevitable and it became reality. The leading pro-American Popular party was defeated last night by the Socialist party in Spain because folks blamed the Populars for the events 3 days prior to the elections. As for strategy .. we can see that al-Qaeda had their thinking caps on in that regard. The way to secure one's safety is to bow to the whims of terrorists. In this case, it means pulling Spanish troops out of the Mid East and not supporting America. Trading autonomy for safety. Simple as that. Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch >>Terrorism is illegal, illogical and cowardly. >>We see the tactics .. they're the main attraction on CNN so its hard to >>miss them. Guest guest
Thanks for bringing this up Butch. You know, how many times have we heard there was no connection between Al Qaeda and Iraq? (I guess people forget about Bin Laden's 1998 fatwa): http://www.fas.org/irp/world/para/docs/980223-fatwa.htm Now we have Al Qaeda claiming it attacked Spain for it's involvement in Iraq.... seems like a pretty good case for the linkage, eh? And the result for the Spanish is to appease and hide their heads in the sand. Very sad. You know, appeasement did not work with Hitler when the world looked the other way when he invaded Poland. But the Poles remember that lesson: Poland, with 2400 troops in Iraq, is in overall command of the European stabilization contingent in Iraq. Jerzy M. Nowak, Poland’s ambassador to NATO, said today that Poland is willing to stay in command of a stabilization force in central-south Iraq if Spain, which had been due to take charge of the division on July 1, withdraws its troops, the Reuters news agency reported. Nowak told Reuters that Poland, which took command of the 24-nation division last September, would be prepared to stay until the end of this year but would need NATO support to do so. “If it is necessary, we will continue leading the multinational division,†Nowak said. “We are prepared for that even if Spain is not able to fulfill its promise.†http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A59339-2004Mar15.html Blessings, Doreen - Butch Owen Monday, March 15, 2004 4:15 AM OT: Global Terrorism Hi Marilyn, > Very well said Butch!!
