I hesitated to post this .. even discussed it with the List Momma and

asked for her opinion .. she gave it .. then I decided to not post it.

Both of my youngest kids asked me on Thursday nite about terrorism. Do you know

how hard it is not to cry hearing your 6 1/2 year old mispronounce the word with

his sweet voice....such a horrible horrible word and he says it and you want to

crumble?

 

Well, my 9-year old is a smart little thing. She is making t-shirts to give to

her friends at her upcoming birthday party instead of a sweet treat....they will

have a peace sign on one side and say 'Give peace a chance' on the other side.

Hi y'all,

 

I hesitated to post this .. even discussed it with the List Momma and

But the more I think on it .. the more I realize I can NOT NOT post it.

 

We avoid such issues on lists like this .. and maybe its good .. maybe

not. I won't say we stick our heads in the sand but I will say we look

for excuses to avoid the potential problems of our day to day lives by

escaping into the world of AT or EO or Soaping or whatever and often

objecting when somebody disturbs those false warm fuzzies by jerking us

back into the world of reality. I'm going to do that now and if anyone

thinks they deserve an apology for this post .. there's a small one down

in the bottom left-hand corner .. use it if you feel you need it.

 

In just the last week, Spain and Turkey have been attacked by Global

Terrorists. Lives were lost. This is the third attack in a few months

for Turkey .. targets have been a hotel, the British Consulate, two

Jewish Synagogues (Turkey has a large Jewish population) and the one

last week being a Masonic Lodge.

 

The attack on Madrid was the most devastating they've ever experienced.

If there are members of this list from Spain, or members who have lost

friends or loved ones in the criminal actions that occurred in Spain ..

I share your anger and disgust. I share your sorrow and I hope your

healing is as rapid and smooth as possible.

 

And for the list members who are not from Spain and who have not lost

friends or loved ones in the criminal actions in Spain .. I share the

sorrow and anger I know you must have but are not sharing on the list

and I hope your healing is as rapid and smooth as possible.

 

We are all victims .. we are all citizens of Madrid .. today. The

unfortunate part is that it will probably pass in time .. we forget.

 

The news media calls the attacks in Spain a horrible terrorist attack ..

they base their statements on the fact that 200 + people died and over

1,500 were hurt. But if only 1 person died it would have been a horrible

terrorist attack for the loved ones of the victim. There must be mass

causalities for the media to pay much attention to a terrorist incident.

 

Terrorism is illegal, illogical and cowardly. Its not a new tactic for

sociopathic/psychotic organizations .. its been around since before the

recording of history and its here to stay until the ENTIRE world joins

together to combat it. Terrorism does not go away when there is a

chicken in every pot or a job for every disgruntled terrorist .. or when

extremist organizations gain some political advantage. Its not about

any of these things. I have lived with terrorism for over 16 years ..

Europeans have lived with it longer than that .. Americans have lived

with it only since 11 September 2001.

 

The wake up call for America, received on 11 September 2001, was enough

to get us off our butts and begin working to combat Global Terrorism ..

and we can say that much progress has been made .. but its not over yet.

Europe now realizes that they are not secure from Global Terrorism .. a

different kind of terrorism than they were accustomed to from the home

grown variety of disgruntled groups who were more into making political

statements than they were in causing massive loss of innocent lives.

 

We see the tactics .. they're the main attraction on CNN so its hard to

miss them. But the strategy they don't discuss. That's unfortunate but

many people don't want to think about the strategies .. better it is to

just hope it will go away or not come close to them. The governments do

pay attention to these strategies .. strategies that are sophisticated

and well planned .. it doesn't take a rocket scientist to determine who

the next victim will be and why some countries will not become victims,

at least for now. The strategy is well planned and has been announced.

There is nothing haphazard or surprising about their target planning.

 

We should all be angry .. and accept that global terrorism is not going

to go away on its own. It has been around since before any of us were

born .. its just better covered by the media now. Terrorism has gone

virtually unnoticed in Africa though it has been ongoing for over 50

years. Few people can recall which two countries in Africa lost 50,000

and 80,000 people to terrorists in the last 10 years .. but they weren't

white Christians and covering the events was dangerous for the media and

not interesting to the Western World or to the United Nations .. so it

was not interesting for the media. But then, media is but a reflection

of society. This boils down to the West and the UN being guilty of

neglect and that neglect fostered continued Global Terrorism. Difficult

facts to face .. but we must fact them .. or bury our heads in the sand.

 

There is no logical reason for terrorism .. its no different than rape

or child molestation or and other crime against persons. We must all be

angry and dedicate ourselves to support the Global War Against Terrorism

as we can .. in any way we can .. if not in deed, then at least in

spirit. No single country or single group of citizens can do it alone.

 

Those countries who have been victimized are willing to give total

support .. at least for a while .. till the smoke and dust clears.

Then the idealists take over and start talking about chickens and pots

and jobs .. and the beat goes on. :-(

 

I believe that America is at risk only during the next 60 .. maybe 90

days. After that it will be smooth sailing until after the elections.

Ask anyone with knowledge of anti/counter terrorism or as an analyst and

they will tell you the same thing. Why is this? Because there are but

eight months left until the presidential elections. Any attack on the

US during the final months prior to the election will cause the American

people to rally under the flag pole .. and around the current American

leadership. This is the LAST thing al-Qaeda wants to see happen!

 

I feel sorry for those who underestimate the goals of the followers of

Wahhabiism, and those who think Islamic extremists will not follow

through with those announced goals. I feel sorry for those who try to

project blame for Global Terrorism onto the actions of any government in

the civilized world. Terrorists can not be stopped through negotiations

nor by giving in to their extremist desires .. they can only be stopped

by stomping them and spilling their blood before they do it to us.

 

Namaste will not get the job done!

 

My heart goes out to the families of the victims of the cowardly killers

in Spain .. and to the victims in the rest of the civilized world.
