Guest guest
I'm thinking a better solution, to avoid scads of angry people searching the hills in search of such a poison to off their mate or co-worker with, would be for the character who does the poisoning to come up with a hybrid of a plant that is poisonous. That way you're in the realm of " doesn't really exist. " I read somewhere that after a popular sci fi show mentioned that a particular plant caused miscarriages, hospital ERs got women in who were hemorraging from trying to use it to abort themselves. Granted, this is knowledge that they could have looked up and mis used themselves, BUT, it was much easier to access, being on TV.
Guest guest
I have a good friend who is a writer. We like to brainstorm with each other our ideas. I write for fun, he is a professional. Last night we were brainstorming his newest book, which is a mystery. He was asking me for advice about poisonous plants. He would like to use a plant in his book that can be infused /made into liquid or EO that is poisonous. Me being me, I told him he should be looking at herbs (I think herbs are more romantic sounding, even if it is a mystery), that are grown in USA. So not to make the book too unbelieveable. Now, I am trying to research plants (now I like the herb idea, but any plant will do). That could be slightly common, growing wild maybe in the US? Any help would be great. Thanks. OH I almost forgot. He needs (for the story to continue) for it to be poisonous in liquid form, by touch. That if it comes into contact with skin would be deadly. Even if over time. Weird question, thanks for any help anybody can give. -Trin
Guest guest
Don't know if it is deadly in liquid form but " deadly nightshade " grows wild in the Texas Panhandle. Don't know what it's botanical name is...but know it is poisonous if taken internally. Guess it could be a tea concoction too. Also, down here in southeast Texas we have " polk " which when eaten while it is a young plant, is benificial to the body, but poisonous when it matures. What about the purple or blue, can't remember which, morning glories which contain digitalis. There are more, but can't think of them right now, but none that I know of that are poisonous to the touch.

Guest guest
Hi Trinity, This isn't an herbal idea, but since it is for a book, and therefore can possibly be written into it in many creative ways .. how about something with those tropical frogs that are deadly to the touch? *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ trinity6232000 [jlvangel] I have a good friend who is a writer. Guest guest
I wanted to thank everybody who commented on this thread. I gave all the information to my friend, and he loves the hybrid idea. Thanks so much. We still are fooling with a realistic hybrid idea, but it's been fun researching. -Trin , SprtDrmr@a... wrote: > I'm thinking a better solution, to avoid scads of angry people > searching the hills in search of such a poison to off their mate > or co-worker with, would be for the character who does the > poisoning to come up with a hybrid of a plant that is > poisonous.
