Guest guest
I have angelica root and oakmoss dried herbs. I am wanting to make a tinture to use. Here is the process I hear to make it. What I heard was to lightly smash the herb to " open " it, then put it in a mason jar. Then pour alcohol(I have either 80 proof vodka or 151 proof rum)over the herb, enough to cover it. Then put some plastic over the top to help make sure the metal doesn't touch it and to help make it seal better. Then you shake it twice a day and keep it in a cool, dry place. Then after 14 days or so you pour it through some cheesecloth and once you have the herb collected in the cheese cloth you twist it to squeeze out all the alcohol and this is your tinture. Put it in an amber or blue glass bottle. It will last for 3-5 years. Does this sound correct? What alcohol should I use? Will it have the scent of the herb? I heard to shake it twice a day and then I read to turn the jar upside down each time. Which is correct? I am wanting to use it for making some natural perfumes. I will be mixing it with other essential oils and carrier oils to make the perfume. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
