Guest guest
Have you ever been into one of their stores?? I never had until yesterday, but have read about their products in the web, and thought I would check out the competition, when I passed one store. They are selling their products under the impression that they are all natural and freshly hand made and the shopkeeper told of of the older ladies that browsed the shop, that all teh products contained only EOs and that the soaps where handmade. You can read about their American site here: http://www2.lush.com/cgi-bin/lushdb/index.html?lang=en_US First of all - the shop actually reeked of scent, they have both their bathbombs and all of their soaps on open display, and jeezz they put up quite a owerwhelming air... Secondly, after reading some of the labels, I was wuite astonished - in some of their products they used Tagetes EO... Boy, according to all my AT books, Tagetes can be canceriogenus and shouldn't be used at all. Mighty risky it sounds to me, to have them in body leave on products, don't you think? Some of their creams did have EOs in them, but - perfume as well! Since I'm soon out of my shampoo bar (and haven't got around to making soap for ages), my curiosity was raised when I saw that they carried shampoo bars too. But, after reading the labels I found out, that even if they are handMADE, the ingrediences was sodioum laureth sulfate and glycerol among other stuff. When I read the labels for the ordenary saop bars, it was the same - no CP or HP soap there... Instead a lot of very unnatural colors. Needless to say, I came out of the shop with nothing but a very stuffy nose and a dire need to tell the shopkeeper what I realy thought about their products. But - what good would that have done?? Only a total waste of my energy, to no avail at all. But I find it really sad, that commercial companies like that, put a bad name on natural toiletries :-( After getting this of my chest, I now go cook dinner for the birthday boy. John is turning 5 years old today :-D Fragrant Blessings, Ylva
Guest guest
Hi Ylva, >Have you ever been into one of their stores?? > > We have a Lush store DownHere - it's in the basement floor of a very large building in Sydney and the smell (I cannot bring myself to call it an 'aroma'!) is very pervasive - I have to hold my breath and walk past the shop very quickly - and have regretted it every time I've been tempted to go in and have a look. Maybe their individual products are easier to handle, but the concentration of all those smells really reeks ! I've never tried their soaps, so have no idea what they're like on the skin .... Contrasting that, there's an essential oils store on the next level up, and when you walk past there the aroma is gentle and inviting ... and there's a palpable difference to the air as you walk into the shop - very calming and peaceful. Guest guest
Hi I'm from England (where Lush began) I have been reading the comments and I must agree with all of them. Oddly enough I discovered Lush a year or so ago on a dirty weekend in Dublin with my fiancé. The smell was sooo over powering that David had to stand outside the shop. He also told me that by having a such small shop Lush could make it look at though they are always full - not bad marketing. Anyway, I purchased 2 face creams, one of which is still sitting in the bathroom after 1 year of not using it. As well as Buffy the Backside thingy & King of sin;-) I must admit that it seems as though big companies like Lush are trying to profit on scents not benefits. What a shame because I think a lot of people are now seeing it for what it isn't - FRESH. Ok, I'm done. That's my £0.02 pence worth. Guest guest
I've never been to a Lush store, and now have no desire to. Already have to hold my breath as I rush by stores like Yankee Candle and Bath & Body Works because of the fragrance reek. BLEAH!
