Guest guest
I hope that this subject can be generally settled - or taken private, cause I know we'll never solve it here, and folks are only going to get upset about it I understand all of the passionate views expressed. I personally allowed Evelyn to post this info about this because I do feel that it is a subject that touches the lives of MANY people of this world, directly or indirectly. Now, that being said ... I want to address briefly the idea about lifestyles and disease and assistance ... its not all so cut and dry. I agree that there are an unfortunate number of folks out there who care nothing for themselves, or anyone else, and CHOOSE to live crappy lives, with crappy lifestyles and even crappier consequences (have witnessed it first hand) and there are those who get caught caught up in crappy lifestyles but one day CHOOSE to help themselves, fight their demons and strive for something better. And then there are certainly situations where through no fault of their own folks run into major health problems - YES you can still get diseases from blood transfusions, just some months back - and I'll find the story if anyone wants - there was an issue with a whole lot of blood that was improperly tested. Yes, there are spouses who are loving and trusting and get an STD - sometimes deadly - from a cheating mate. Yes, there are babies born with diseases because their parents had the disease and passed it along, and they are destined to a life filled with problems because of that .... If we really want to get down to the nitty gritty of the matter when it comes to diseases (and I'm not referring to mental diseases, I'm talking physical here), MANY of us fall victim to ailments due to our lifestyle choices, and that can include getting the flu or a stomach virus. Whether a person got AIDS because they made a careless sexual decision, or got the flu because they didn't nurture their immune systems when everyone around them in the office was coming down with a cold, whether someone gets diabetes because they lived a sedentary lifestyle and made poor food choices, or whether they got cancer from smoking ... we cannot have countless members of our society dying in the streets and cannot hoard medications and care (natural or prescription) for only the rich who can afford to pay to live. I am not one for redistribution of wealth, or for cradle to grave social democratic coddling, but I also realize that is far more important to spend gov't grant money to help save people's lives over finding out which apple is the sweetest ;-p I truly feel that as a whole we have to take charge of our health more, and not be so dependent on doctors, prescription drugs and the pharmaceutical industry. We have to be aware of the choices we make and how they will affect us down the road, but we also have to be compassionate and not watch the most grievously ill in our society suffer and die without even blinking when we were able to assist in some way. Now, back to Oils_Herbs and of course ... the Etc ..... *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com
