This is definately something to think about isn't it... It could be combined with a craft/Eo type thingee couldn't it... Hmmmmmmm.... Thinking like mad as someone tole me that there was NOTHING good around in this area during the spring... I need to do some checking around and see what there is, where would be a good central location and see if I can't find out a bit more than what I know now AND is there anyone else on this list that would be interested in some sort of bay area gathering? Guest guest
Um, Kathleen - I said that once on a list I *used* to be a member of (for Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and their owners). Suddenly I found myself hosting a Cavalier " pawty " , attended by 13 people and 17 dogs - not including our 3 Cavs and 1 husky mix. Making comments like that is verrrry dangerous. Someone like me might say - if you host it, I'll come! You might even persuade me to help, if the timing was right (just after I finished the last glass of wine in the bottle cuz I didn't want it to go to waste....) Your neighbor to the north.... Trish Ross San Francisco and Gualala Why is there never anything like this in my area? All we have is techno garbage... course living in Silicon Valley that is to be expected somewhat, but are there NO intuitive, creative, daring people here to set something like that up?! >sigh< K Cheers! Guest guest
Kathleen - how far could it be between Silicon Valley and Berkley?? A hop, skip and jump maybee ;-P Try living on the other side of the wolrd, and see this absolutely wonderful event taking place. No such thing around here, that's for sure. Only " World Holocost Conference " and other such political correct issues. The only thing I have to look forward to, is the annual gardening fair - and that's not so very special if you ask me :-( Yeahhh, I feel very, very grumpy and is in such envy of those who live within hailing distance of Berkley, Bay Area...gnashing my teeth in frustration. Fragrant Blessings anyway, Ylva PS At least I found one thick book on kitchen gardening (heck, how to grow veggies and such, not have a garden in the kitchen..)and two slimmer ones on dog issues on sale, to brighten my day a little bit DS

Not the same as being there, smelling the distillation unit's output, meeting the folks, for sure, but a step in the right direction, no? My friend is sophisticated, savvy, and wants to reach out with her " blending group " . I'm so proud of what she has accomplished so far, on her own. Here in Miami the interest in aromatherapy is mostly tied up with a MLM con artist who encourages unsafe practices. Some of his former students and I are slowly moving towards getting the 'good' word out, and that is taking all our time. Perhaps once that is accomplished, we'll organize something here. I will not call it aromatherapy, however, for a lot of reasons (too many to go into here.) I will organize it more along the lines of the Bay Area gathering, a scent festival, a blending bonanza :-) since there is an interest in upscale perfumery here. >Yeahhh, I feel very, very grumpy and is in such envy of those who >live within hailing distance of Berkley, Bay Area...gnashing my teeth >in frustration. The Bay Area hosts many such events, often put on by a, shall I say, competing faction? I know of about six events in the past year alone. It just happens that the folks there are very much on top of the scent game. The Bay Area has always been ahead of the curve with alternative stuff, and they don't suffer fools (or hassles) lightly, so they all offer their own version of stuff (hope that shorthand makes sense:-) So, to deal with your frustration, organize one yourself! I gave my first 'aromatherapy' demonstration in 1987, in a store that sold lots of imported scent products from France, from lavender bundles to soaps to oils. See if there is such a place in your area, and approach them about an in-store demonstration and talk on a Saturday. it's a start. http://member.newsguy.com/~herblady
