At first I had descided not to go here, but now reading the last post

on the topic, I just can't refrain from butting in ;-P I just have to

tell you, so no one is misunderstanding, that this whole post is

written in a cheerful, halfway bitchy tone LOL.

First of all - I have always thought Mel G was from Australia..isn't

he?? That can't make him one of the greatest American actors can it??

Second - nope I don't think he is that great and that Braveheart

realy realy sucks (excuse my poor choice of words). My DH, is of

another opinion and think Braveheart is OK..why is beyond my

understanding. But, i don't fancy Apocalyps Now, movies with Anthony

Banderas or the old For a fistfull of dollars and the other spagetti

westerns, that Lars claims to be classics ;-) Other less than good

Mel G movies (in my opinion) is Bird on a wire, Ransom and the Lethal

Weapon series.

I confess that most fo the films regarding the war in Vietnam moves

me deeply, of cource not from an American point of view, but rather

the Vietnamese (for obvious reassons since that country gave me the

greatest gift of them all - my first child - hurray!!). But I totaly

agree with Butch, When we where soldiers is a great movie!! Here Mel

realy did some great acting!!

As actors go, I think my alltime modern favorites are Tom Hanks,

cause he can play almost every kind of caracter totaly convincing,

and Johnny Depp. Not cause he's handsome (and that he is- ahhhh), but

since I think that most of the caracters he have ever played, he did

it differently every time. I love the way he acted in Gilbert Grape

(Lasse Hallström is SWEDISH!!) - but I confess, I almost swooned with

pleasure at his caracter in Pirates of the Carabeean. I laughed so

hard when he sachayed (sp??) around with limp wrists and all that

makeup. BTW, Lars read somewhere that Johnny D built this caracter

after having studied Keith Richards hard and long LOL.

With this I retire for the night, Well not of top bed just yet, but

leaving the computer for today.

Fragrant Blessings,

Ylva

I don't think anyone took it other than what it was supposed to be...I enjoyed

the thread, just had to throw my 2 cents in aboot Willie Wallas and braveheart,

he may be an Austrialian, but he actually had a pretty good Scottish accent,

better than most English actor attempts..*grins*

Fae the Scottish lass.

Big Braveheart fan, and bigger mel fan..lol

He was born in the USA . . . New York?? Can't recall the actual city but his

father moved the family to Australia. So, I gues that makes him American.
