Good Day Everyone,

Question: Can lavender bushes be planted in

containers?

I have the opportunity to get some sub zero

Lavendula officinalis and since I rent do not

want to plant it in the land lady's yard.

Thanks,

Cheryl

Hey Cheryl - My soil is very badly compacted & so I keep just about everything

in pots and tubs including many different varieties of lavender. An advantage

to doing this is that you can

rotate the pots and yes, even move them as the plants grow grow. I have planted

pumpkin seeds directly in the soil. One year I had a massive patch of two

different varieties of pumpkin

growing all over my front yard. One day I counted about 40 of them.

Unfortunately, the squirrels would take a bite or two out of nearly everyone of

them. Nevertheless, the leaves were gigantic and they would climb my fence and

even the evergreen tree was laden with vine and the squash blossoms on the tree

were gorgeous! I managed to get two to come to full fruit. Ooops, LAVENDER -

sorry. Some years, the lavender blooms beautifully in the pots. Last year I

got plenty of greenery and not much flower. Hope springs eternal and Spring is

right around the corner - so I will try again with some amended soil in the

pots.

Namaste,

Answer: I dunno, but I've seen them growing that way at nurserys and such.

Now. I've a question for YOU... Family is thinking of going to Alaska (by

boat) for a week in the Summer, where's the best place to visit? We'll prolly

rent a car and do a bit of sight seeing. Any tips appreciated!

Every place in Alaska is the 'best' place to

visit.... <big grin>.

Let me do some checking with some that have lived

here longer than I have. Also, you better plan

on visiting Anchorage to meet Paul and so I can

meet your family.

Hugs,

Cheryl

Sure they can. I plant all kinds of herbs in pots... have some rosemary in my

greenhouse right now but have had almost every herb in pots even during summer.
