Robert e lee response

Hey y'all,

 

General Robert E. Lee is everybody's father. He went down in history,

accepted by the US Army today, as being the kindest,

General Grant was drummed out of the Army as a captain for being a

drunk. In the beginning of the ridiculous political actions of fanatic

members of Congress (Northern and Southern)

So .. we are all the children of the Great General Robert E. Lee. ;-)

 

 

This is sad, my first post but leave me out of your Robert E Lee. Why are

you trying to rekindle a war that caused this country so much suffering. You

are no better than me and I trace my northern family back hundreds of years

with no southern connections what so ever. Donna

Butch was NOT trying to rekindle anything. He is simply as proud of his heritage

as you are of yours. And I can understand WHY you are proud. As for my family,

the only southern connections we have is that some of us live here. MY roots go

back beyond John and Priscilla Alden (some of my ancestors)to VERY early Royalty

in England (Egbert the first King of England) on one side and the Austrian Court

of Europe on the other. Also this does not include the Revolutionary War

participants which make me eligible for the DAR. I find Genealogy very

interesting but I dont use it in a supercillious way to supplement my

personality. As Popeye said... " I yam what I yam and that's all that I yam " . As

for long dead ancestors, whomever they may be... Doc McCoy said it best when he

told James T. Kirk , when describing the condition of one of his " red

shirts " ........ " He's dead Jim " .

 

BTW Until I read a book loaned to me by a Southern friend, I had NO CLUE what a

remarkable man General Lee was.

 

Lighten up girtlfriend. This isnt the most important thing in the world!!!

Now lets get back to OILS AND HERBS, what do you say?

Hey Donna,

 

It'd be nice to see your group participation begin with something less

huffy and disgruntled. Goodness, this was obviously just a light

hearted topic that a lot of folks had a little bit of fun with and isn't

something to get your knickers in a twist about! Nobody has professed

superiority of any sort. And although I just moved to TX, if anyone here

is a Yankee, I'm REALLY a Yankee. A New York Yankee to be exact - with

relatives all over the north east - and roots that go back a long time

there too ;-p

 

I don't have problems with people disagreeing about things, but I do not

like it when people seem to make posts which give nothing positive at

all but have the ability to project bad feelings and start a negative

stir!

 

I do hope you were just having a bad moment, and you didn't realize that

this is how this post would come across and that it has passed now and

you feel better

I was wondering..... don't people have a right to have some pride in

where they are from? I've been in TX for most of my life, but was

born in Oklahoma. I'm proud of both states. Proud of the Indian

Heritage I learned in OK and proud that I'm a transplanted Texan.

That doesnt mean we hate yankees or anything else. I think Chris &

Butch are right. Nobody meant anything derogatory, but I thought it

was a fun topic. Ya know, I like jokes about the way " sutheners "

talk just as much as the next person. It's a whole different way of

life. But I also have some very good friends & family from

California to New York & from Canada down to Texas where I am. Hope

we can all be friends on this list. I've had the privilege to have

travelled from the coast of California all the way to Georgia (didnt

make it to Florida. And I've been to New York and Africa too. Well,

I'm rambling, but just wanted to say..... no hard feelings here and I

hope you catch the friendly spirit of this group.
