Guest guest
Hey Karen, > I work for the government, and I get paid wages... however, I also > pay taxes, so in reality I guess I'm really paying myself! > Karen Matter of fact that is. And I forgot to mention that long ago Congress came up with a way to lower the budget at the expense of military folks. They classified our retirement pay as delayed compensation .. and they declared that it was fair for military folks to not be paid on a level equal with their civilian counterparts because they would draw military delayed compensation at an earlier age than the average civilian. This also took into consideration that many of us would not live to complete a military career .. and those who did often died early of complications from military service .. so Congress is no stupid .. just crooked. When I drew my meager monthly pay check as a soldier .. it was taxed .. and I paid SS .. now, I am drawing that " delayed compensation " which is based on the taxed income earned during my period of active duty .. and it too is taxed .. and I still pay SS payments. So .. they gonna get you one way of the other. ;-P The other thing they did for us is similar to the way the US Gummit dealt with every Indian tribe they ever encountered .. they reneged on contracts made. When I joined the US Army I was guaranteed to receive, upon retirement, free medical and dental care till I went under snakes. But that was taken away from us many years ago .. its not there now. As we all know, there is no appeal from a Supreme Court decision .. but congressman can get together with their cronies and pass new laws that make even Supreme Court decisions invalid .. all they gotta do is stay away from Constitutional issues. GIs and Indians were never guaranteed a damn thing by the Constitution of the United States of America. Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch American By Birth ** Suthran By The Grace Of God ** Patriot By Choice >>Butch can I ask one question????????????
