Guest guest
Awesome! You are one smart cookie Kelly!!! Thanks for the update *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com Kelly Beers [beerfarm] I thought I'd give you guys an update on my friend who had the chemical burn on his leg. I did a little online research on plaster and the ingredients in it, and found that the probable offending agent was calcium hydroxide. Hmmm.... a little light went off in my head and I knew that to neutralize sodium hydroxide (lye) if it's accidentally spilled on one's skin, vinegar is a treatment of choice, so I suggested he use some vinegar, as apparently the chemical reaction was still ongoing and lo and behold, it worked! He doesn't have any more burning or sloughing of skin and he said it's starting to heal. One thing I noticed was that in the warnings for calcium hydroxide it said it was dangerous if it was reconstituted with water. Well, obviously in this case, it wasn't, and when thinking of lye, it actually absorbs moisture, so no doubt this stuff did too, only from the skin and under his sock. Just thought I'd share in case anyone ever needed this info! Have a great night! :-) Kelly Beers
