Guest guest Posted February 21, 2004 Report Share Posted February 21, 2004 It might be possible to make a Coconut Absolute .. though I have not seen one on the market and I think it would take a lot of effort to produce on a large scale as you would have to prep it in tiny slivers or maybe even pulverize the coconut meat before you tried to extract the flavor. As for an essential oil from coconut .. I doubt if you would get an EO from it but there w/could be some flavor extracted. And whether of not its an Absolute (made from Concrete) or an Extract .. using alcohol as a solvent .. is puzzling and worth learning about. Absolute or Extract it seems to me that one might wind up with a heck of a lot of thick wax. Lots of lauric acid in coconut .. similar to Laurel (Laurus nobilis) seed oil .. which is produced by simply boiling the seeds in a large vat and scooping off the oil .. but when it hits room temperature it becomes semi-solid.
