Guest guest
I wonder how much money they got in a grant to come to these findings, which no doubt are interesting, but also are well known for centuries. The placebo effect and its concept are nothing new. Shamans and Witch Doctors and Voodoo Practitioners and old backwoods Country Doctors who learned via apprenticeship and all manner of so-called uneducated, backward, but effective healers have known forever that healing was healing regardless of how it occurred ... and getting the patient to believe that the medicine or the dance or the smoke and feathers was going to heal them was often enough to do the job. But now folks get hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants to prove what ancient man knew was a fact to begin with ... and the biggest placebo around is the one that we are all mesmerized by ... that of the contemporary medical establishment And then the empathy study ... is it a surprise that people have empathy for others in pain - especially women? *lol* Ahhh, I wonder what will they do next with grant money - then again, I have an uncle who got a grant to make " Calcium Enriched Pringles " *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com Anya [mccoy] WASHINGTON - Just thinking a medicine will make you feel better actually may -- even if it's fake, according to new research examining the placebo effect. <snipped>

All those poor women popping 1000mg+calcium tabs per day as per their ignorant MD's advice are just contributing to heart disease. Diseases made or worsened by excess calcium? Heart, arthritis, kidney, etc., etc. Everything in moderation, folks, including the wrongly-touted 'natural' stuff like calcium...and vitex.. couldn't resist. Here's a link to a google quickie search i did for " excess calcium " heart disease: http://tinyurl.com/3cwb2 And don't get me started on the dangers of eating Pringles, LOL. Ain't no placebo in the world gonna heal you from that shee-hit. http://member.newsguy.com/~herblady
Guest guest
I was wondering if anyone had a good program or something that they especially liked and think worked on colon cleansing and detoxing the body? I've been doing a major search on it on the net - but have come up with SO MUCH and of course it seems like everyone has the best supplements/vitamins/program diet to buy....just thought I'd see what the REAL experts had to say on the subject :-) Blessings, Pam E Web Express - Web Design & Hosting http://www.ewebexpress.com TLC Naturally - Essential Oils & Home Made Goodies http://www.tlcnaturally.com - Christine Ziegler Friday, February 20, 2004 10:28 AM RE: Interesting story on pain -- and our beliefs I wonder how much money they got in a grant to come to these findings, which no doubt are interesting, but also are well known for centuries.
