Oils that aid sleeplessness

It seems so very basic but I have to give you a testimony that I recently sent

to Butch regarding his rose hydrosol.

A few nights ago I was teaching a relaxation segment in my childbirth course. I

incorporated rose hydrosol (the rosa damascena). One of my children, I later

discovered, loved the smell so much that they snuck the bowl with the soaked

washcloth into our bedroom (our kids sometimes still sleep with us, it's a king

size family bed). Now, I didn't notice the smell was directly in our room

because our entire apartment had the hint leftover from the class.

In any case, I personally slept more restfully than I had in many nights. I

usually startle myself awake with my tossing and turning. I literally overslept

but didn't feel that usual panic about it. Additionally, my husband is ALWAYS a

bear when he wakes up (and I am being kind in the description) woke up right

behind me rather cheerfully completely astounding me. He has reason to be a

bear....he works nights and usually returns home between 3-6am then has to get

up at 7:20am to get the kids to school for an 8:30am drop off then return home

and try to sleep for a few hours before getting up, trying to have some time to

himself then leave for work again at 2pm. He does this 4 evenings a week and

works from home one day/evening per week.

I would say that one needs to look a bit at one's underlying reasons for

restlessness (is there any physical/mental/social health issues, etc.) for a

total health outlook but I am very much a believer in the rose hydrosol's aid to

inducing rest and a rested body.

I like lavender or rose when I can not sleep and

need to. Just a drop on a cosmetic pad, tissue

or the pillow itself and that is it.

I had a Doc back in '95 who suggested Melatonin

to me. Now back then I absolutely had to sleep

at night and that worked well for me. It just

helps a person's natural sleep rhythms to restore

themselves...herbal supplement type thing. I used

to buy it at GNC.

Hi Anita:

I thought I'd throw in my experience with Butch's Red Mandarin. As a

background, I have Fibromyalgia and that comes with a lovely sleep disorder. I

take a very low dose antidepressant which helps me sleep all through the night

instead of waking up six or seven times as I would without it. It is called

Remeron. Occasionally for whatever reason right before bedtime my heart starts

beating fast and I know from fast experience that I will be sleepless all

night...at those times I usually take a real sleeping pill called ambien. I

happens once or twice a month. For two night now when the pounding and awake

feeling as happened, I've gotten up to take a few drops of Red Mandarin on a

little cloth to bed with me and both times it has slowed my heart down and made

me feel almost sedated so I could fall asleep. That is just my experience so I

don't know if it would help your friend, but the price is so reasonable to try a

little and see if it would help. I'm real grateful I didn't have to take the

sleeping pills those nights because they can be addicting if you take them too

often and I do not want that to happen. Hope this helps.

Hello

I would like to introduce myself as I don't think that I have posted

previously.

My name is Anita and I'm from the UK. I have been using EO for a

while now in soaps, creams, lotions, hair spritz etc..

I have a friend who's husband has a sleeping problem - he can't get a

good nights rest. He sleeps for about 2 hours a day and works his

socks off during the day. Are there any essential oil (EO) mixtures

that I can make for him that will help him get a good nights kip? If

so, would you be so kind as to share your recipe with me, please.

He has seen the doctor and that has proven to be as much help as

p*ssing in the wind. So I thought maybe EOs just might help him.

Any and all thoughts would be much appreciated!

Many thanks in advance.
