Guest guest
Hey Pat, > So loose herbs & foods are not controlled? how interesting. I'm not real ready to claim that .. but it was what we were told. :-) Jim Naeseth runs a Health Food Store near us .. 14 years or so. Its really a grocery store .. but everything except his loose herbs is prepackaged .. and that rule applies to him too. His herbs are in large glass containers and he sells them by the ounce. > I know about the restaurant kitchen requirement and mine would never pass, > which is why I have never pursued selling food items. I knew a lady > that had a friend in the restaurant business and they either packaged > her spices for her, or let her use the kitchen, I cant remember which. > Pat They did tell us some of the minimum requirements for food handling .. and it got into size of drains, grease traps, stainless steel without seams this and that .. more than I wanted to hear really. Butch > >but that if I wanted to repackage foods .. my folks would need food > >handlers permits .. and my repackaging areas would have to meet the > >same hygienic standards as would a restaurant kitchen. > >This is the technical end of that tale .. as for how much adherence > >to the rules or how much enforcement is involved I know not. And I am > >sure there are different rules in this or that state. :-) Butch
