Guest guest
Hi Chris I recently downloaded a program that scans for these each day. The first scan I got over 50 on my system. If I do it daily I get from 2 to 10 of what they describe as dataminers. I had this site recommended to me by a friend www.lavasoft.de <http://www.lavasoft.de> and I just downloaded their free version and update it when I think to. from their homepage While the Internet is a powerful resource and provides users with many useful and often entertaining things to see and do, it also has its dark side. Most people are familiar with freeware, shareware, cookies, media players, interactive content, and file sharing. What they may not realize is that some of the aforementioned may contain code or components that allow the developers of these applications and tools to actually collect and disseminate information about those using them. They can track your surfing habits, abuse your Internet connection by sending this data to a third party, profile your shopping preferences, hijack your browser start page or pages, alter important system files, and can do this without your knowledge or permission. The security and privacy implications of these exploits should be quite obvious and undesirable on any system or network! Lavasoft is the industry leader and most respected provider of anti Trackware solutions. We have developed several applications that will provide you with the means to keep your computer or network free of these compromising and intrusive threats to your privacy. regards Catherine Author ~ A Healthy Horse the Natural Way http://www.catherinebird.com.au Keep up to date with natural therapies for horses with our monthly online newsletter at catherinebird/ Message: 3 Wed, 11 Feb 2004 13:13:35 -0600 " Christine Ziegler " <chrisziggy Attn: All Users - Web Beacons Another related public service announcement! *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ is now using " Web Beacons " to track users around the net and see what you're doing and where you are going - similar to cookies. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
