I got this info from someone I know " on the inside " ... just figured I'd

put it out there for parents to be aware of!

My company received approval for and will begin distributing Named an

Alzheimer's drug this year. Today I took the following message from a

(sales) representative of the company . Among these reps'

responsibilities is that they watch the competition. This particular

rep noticed a name of a doctor who was a candidate for training on

Named.

The name of the doctor is Abraham Sheer and he practices in Lincoln, NB.

He is one of the state's biggest prescriber of Alzheimer's medications.

Ready for this....he's a pediatrician. He prescribes Aricept, an

Alzheimers med, for autism.

The MPR lists Aricept and children only as 'not applicable'.

Precautions: sick sinus syndrome or other supraventricular cardiac

condition conditions. Monitor for GI bleeding. Seizures. Asthma.

Pregnancy (Category C). Nursing mothers.

If you know anyone with a child with autism whose on Aricept....make

sure the parent knows the drug is not intended for autism as far as the

pharmaceutical community knows. But we all know it would not be the

first time a drug is prescribed for off label use.

Adverse reactions: Nausea, diarrhea, insomnia, vomiting, muscle cramps,

fatigue, anorexia, others.
