Guest guest
<<<Hi, My daughter gets migraines, how did you test for the food allergies? Did your doctor recommend it? Thanks Carol>>> Hi, Carol! Yes, my doctor recommended it. (She's an ND -- naturopathic doctor.) She has compared the different kinds of allergy tests and says that Immuno Labs in Florida (Ft. Lauderdale, I think) does the most accurate testing. It's really easy for the patient -- just a blood draw and you're done. They test you on a hundred or so different substances and send you a personalized booklet with lists of the foods you reacted to, and foods you did not. You then must eat only foods on the " ok " list for the next 12 weeks. Not only must you avoid all allergy triggers, you must avoid all foods for which they did not test. It makes for a loooong 12 weeks, but I guess it takes that long to flush all the allergens out of your system. (I had a killer migraine halfway thru the 12 weeks, which my doctor said was part of the cleansing process...) Then you can add back the allergy items one by one and watch for reaction. Some foods, the ones that test with lower numbers, you may no longer be allergic to after resting the system for 12 weeks. Some may never go away. My doctor said to add back in only the lowest numbers, but to continue to avoid the higher numbers. I tested allergic for 20 things! YIKES! But I only have to continue to avoid a few (6) of them. A difficult few, but at least it's not 20! Hope that helps! Ellen

Guest guest
Hi, I have never heard of it, but I will look into it. I spoke with the family doctor yesterday, and he is going to get us an appointment with a specialist, to rule out anything more serious. Thanks everyone for all your help.
